NOW AVAILABLE: Community A-4E-C Mod
Tirak replied to Merker's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I've had no major issues with TACAN. It is a line of sight system so make sure there's no mountains or anything between you and the emitter. As long as you pull off the power before the rollback is finished there should be no issue with taking off again at full power. -

You can set your own pictures. In the Cockpit\Textures folder there's a PNG file called lookatthisphotograph.png. Just replace that with a different picture using the same name and you can set whatever you want. -

In the current release version, you cannot start the aircraft on the carrier, however on the current dev build, cold start capability was added, as was new catapult logic. -

Check to make sure that when you placed the A-4E-C in your Save Games Mods/Aircraft folder, that you didn't put the mod inside of another folder named the same as the mod. Basically make sure the file path isn't something like Mods/Aircraft/A-4E-C/A-4E-C -

The CBU-2 double mounts are bugged in the current release version to be invisible, however this behavior has been fixed in the current dev build and will be present in the next release, along with realistic drop behavior that can be set by ground crew :) Also a new more complex damage model is in the works, though this might not make the next version release. Yes this is intentional, it's the rollback behavior for getting unhooked from the arrestor wire, chocks will be in the next version to lay down to stop the rolling :) -
One of the problems recently revealed however was one of documentation, which as far as I know, hasn't been resolved.

I'm assuming of course that you're not counting the 2xAIM-9 and 2xAIM-7/120 self defense load when you're saying these Hornet Pilot should be focused on a single role, because if you are, then that's a really dumb statement. The AA Only pylons always should be filled to protect yourself, and once you're mission is accomplished, if you've got the fuel, go hunting so long as the environment is reasonably permissive for it. The idea of hitting your target then pushing for secondaries isn't unrealistic in the slightest, and is one of the major selling points of multirole...

The radio is holding things back unfortunately. With wheels up and Simple Comms off, you can't even access the comms menu. It also stops things like aerial refueling. I really hope that when ED does their pass at integrating VOIP, they give modders a bit more access so that they can integrate their fan creations. It'd be a huge boon to ED if high fidelity mods filled in gaps around the full fidelity modules. -

There's actually a few RWR projects going on for the A-4E-C at the moment. The initial one will hopefully mimic the simpler RWR which provides an aural tone based on PRF as well as a light on the glareshield that will illuminate. The AN/APR-25 is also being worked on that would provide the A-4E-C an azimuth display and more direct information as to the nature of the contact, however that is a much more complex system and will likely take a while, though results so far have been quite promising :) Whether or not the AN/APR-25 will be included as part of the mod proper seems to be a bit up in the air, I know that given the other upgrades currently evident on the module (NWS, Avionics Hump, ECM panels in the cockpit, ect) it would be period appropriate, but it may be relegated to a sidemod akin to how the original RWR mod was. -

Just spoke with some friends in CSG-1 who had a major BFM exercise yesterday where the A-4E was used pretty extensively. They reported no problems with Headtracking not working. You might want to try reinstalling your head tracking program and maybe DCS as well. -
A-4E-C also has their huffer modeled, and there's talk about the GPU cart getting modeled as well.

I've been flying the A-4E regularly, no problem with head tracking. Two other people have reported this problem and the solution was to delete the headtracker folder and that resolved the issue. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=229413 -

Without an EFM that isn't quite possible, and I'm not even sure that if/when the EFM gets up and running it'll be possible to hook onto catapults in the same way that the Hornet does. With that said, there's been some significant overhauling going on of carrier operations in general, which include things like wheel chocks to keep you from sliding around the deck, work on the huffer to allow carrier cold starts, as well as a new catapult system which should feel much better. -
No, Ralfi explicitly mentioned multiple times that it's a private mod, not the RAZBAM F-15E.

You can find JSI 1:18 scale Tomcats on Ebay. Be prepared to shell out though...

Preorders started October 7th, It's January 9th so it's been 3 months. At the time preorders were opened a definite release date was set as end of Winter as a promise, and an internally hoped for end of 2018 release. They were clear however the internal date of 2018 was a hoped for date and the legally binding date, the guarantee provided for the preorder was end of winter. At no point was this obfuscated from you, and a definite release window was defined. Heatblur has further made it explicit as to the last day the release window will be, which is exactly concordant with their previous statement of end of winter. Heatblur has during this time period been active on social media to keep consumers abreast of the situation and recently has released preview copies to specific social media influencers, which is no different from a games journalist receiving a preview copy, these are not "random people". As of now we have videos from Ralfidude (43,292 subscribers as per Social Blade), MagzTV (74,322 subscribers as per Social Blade) and Jabbers (10,922 subscribers as per Social Blade). All three channels are known for their DCS content and are well known in the DCS and wider community. Heatblur has made many claims of when they wanted to put out the module, and while that can be frustrating, until Heatblur takes your money in exchange for a product, none of those previous dates are any sort of legally binding ones. I'll be fascinated to see what sort of "Legal action" you intend to take because as far as I can see, you haven't got a leg to stand on.

Unfortunately unless everyone has the A-4E-C, they wouldn't be able to connect to a server using the module. If you want to fly the Skyhawk in a multiplayer environment, you're going to have to join a group. Unless ED decides to do some work supporting mods on their new dedicated server system. -

If you use the A-4E-C in a mission like Through The Inferno that has F10 items, make sure you're set to Simple Comms in options so you can still access the F10 menu. But yeah, due to SDK limitations, you can only talk to ground crew with the canopy open. -

It should be. I've been practicing trapping for the carrier group I'm a part of and as long as you come in high enough the meatball is there for me. When I was first starting I inevitably was coming in much too low and kept having to make Clara calls, but with better altitude management it works, but there may be other scripts going on in the background. -

A super high roll rate is actually realistic, there's videos on youtube showing it. For curves though mine are at 30. -

An RWR system is being worked on, last check they had mentioned they'd be implementing an aural tone and the SAM light, however there has been some talk of the AN/APR-25. -

If you look in the comments he is asked that question and addresses it. That said, there's been some discussion on the discord about how to improve the immersion of the current cat shot system, which has me pretty excited if they turn out to be doable.
