Have you ever heard John Carmack? He is the greatest Programmer in this world! Effeciency is everything! You don't think those littlt fps drops matter, right? But, 1 little bit...2 little bit......more and more .........than the CPU and GPU and Memory payload will be terrible!
I don't know how the DCS project team think. But every programmer must know this: effeciency is everything! In LOMAC, I was always pissed off by fps drops while bombing, explosing, smoking, and many other such things. In the year 2003, I bought the LOMAC, and I think it should run much smoother when I upgrade my PC in 2006. Then timed to 2006, I bought AMD X2 3800+,1950GT with 256 RAM, DDR667 1GB x2. I thought this machine will run LOMAC perfectly. But I was wrong! It still come out a unacceptable 10 or 20 fps. And I thought a stable 30 fps is a basic for a SIM. LOMAC or LOFC just can not reach this goal--- shooting, bombing, explosing and something else will drag the fps to 5 even at the lowest setting in the game.
My first PC game is John Carmack's Quake2, some years later I know that John's code is on top effeciency! He changed the whole world! Because his codes use the tinniest resources to accomplish the finnest effects!
So,even some of you guys think the water under land doesn't matter anything, it does "suck" the system resources. And this is really not worthy it. You know Cod4,UT3,Crysis,GoW,etc? These games run perfectly with top effects and stable 30-or-above fps on my PC.
