  1. Greetings All, I recently installed TrackIR 5 and I found that in order for it work properly I have to darken the room quite a bit due to the ambient lighting. This reduces me to using it only at night. I am wondering if the Face Track No IR would solve this problem for me? Many Thanks, Steve
  2. I am going through the same thinking process and can't seem to get much done in assigning my 3 CH controllers. Rudder pedals and brakes wont assign and assigning a button to the Fighertstick randomly reproduces itself on the Pro Throttle. I agree, this whole process needs to be more user friendly. I am just a casual gamer and I am thinking that I need to be a mind reader to follow the instructions in the manual. Very frustrating.
  3. Greetings All, I am trying without success to bind (assign? I never know the correct term) my CH Pro Pedals to the TF-51 and the F-86. The "Controller" screen sees that the Pedals are plugged in but I cannot figure out how to assign the brakes or rudders. I am trying to avoid the Control Manger whenever possible. Also, when I have finally been able to do this, must each individual aircraft have a profile associated with it? I have tried to save other buttons (eg. on the Fighterstick) but have not been able to figure out the correct way to do this either. Sorry to be so clumsy but any help would be appreciated. I am beginning to think that flight sims these days are just to complicated for to figure out on my own without detailed guidance. Many thanks, Steve :joystick:
  4. Thanks for all of the thoughts. Until I find more information I will just use the old technique of matching the down flap angle to the full down deflection of the aileron. this is usually close to best lift over drag. No airplane takes off with full flaps as that would create more drag than lift.
  5. Many thanks for this work. For us Newbies, it is nice to find so much useful information in one place.
  6. DCS has renewed my interest in the world of flight sims. I quite impressed with the work and dedication of the developers. Unfortunately for me the learning curve is steeper than my time will allow. There is a lot of jargon and shorthand speak to be found here on the forums and I am impressed with the average fellows grasp of all things internal to DCS, video cards, ad infinitum. Is there a comprehensive place where a neanderthal such as myself can learn what it takes to really enjoy this game to it's highest? Having said that I find the the supplied manuals are lacking the in depth of detail I seem to need. I understand the need for brevity in these publications by the way. Just wondering, that's all. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the help. I guess my next steps are rudder pedals (thought that I could do without them), Track IR, and getting my aileron, elevator, and rudder axis tuned to my CH Fighterstick. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  8. Hi all and thanks for the feedback and encouragement. I am now home and I for sure found the Multplayer login area within the game. (I have been traveling quite a bit over the last few weeks and was trying to sort all of this without the game itself to refer to.) Now, how does one find a relevant password and the ip/url is the ---.---.---.---. numbers listed in the server name correct? Many thanks again, Steve
  9. Huh? Well silly me. As I am traveling and just realized the multi player client is at home within the game itself of course. See, I told you I can be a knucklehead at times.
  10. I haven't yet found any documentation for proper flap position for takeoff in the F-86. Can anyone point me in the right direction.:joystick:
  11. Hey thanks! But! Where can a find the multiplayer client? Sorry to be so inept.
  12. Hi Capt Zeen. I am very new to DCS and all of the "shorthand" used on most forums. What pray tell are Helios? What I really need now are some good guides on how to map my CH Hotas controllers and then determine the axis values that seem to work best for most folks. This seems to be a of of work learning how everything works but worth it I think. Thanks, Steve
  13. Thanks for the feedback. Is the VA server at Virtual Aerobatics.com or somewhere on DCS? This looks very. challenging. I can barely taxi the P51!
  14. I just stumbled on to Virtual Aerobatics a few days ago.. Can anyone tell me what it is and how one can learn it? I am just now getting the P-51 up to speed so I have a long way to go but I would like to learn how to perform aerobatic routines with it and perhaps join a team someday. S always many thanks, Steve :joystick:
  15. Oops! Okay! I found the folder. Thanks again!
  16. Thanks but I am working with a brand new download. My problem lies with how to properly assign the buttons on my joystick and throttle. "Options" tab then Controls" tab. Nothing I have figured out so far works when I go into the sim. So, I Would like to read for myself how to run the sim without having to go in a forum to learn what I need to know. I cannot find a documents folder referred to earlier. Thanks!
  17. I looked around for such a folder. Where does one find it? Sorry to be such a knucklehead.
  18. Hello All, I am trying to set up my CH Controllers using the TF-51 as a learning platform. I don't seem to be having much luck. Is there any written instructions on how the various pieces of the game work? Many Thanks, Steve
  19. I was ready to purchase the F-86 when I noticed that this is still in Beta. Correct? If so does the module have a training scenario included? I am sure that it does but just want to be sure. Thanks.
  20. I am still quire a newbie to this sim and gathering info is quite a challenge. I am using an old Logitech extreme 3D pro. i dont like the twisty stick for the rudders as every time I bank too much rudder input happens. I have tried to disable the rudder part of the joystick and use keyboard input (until I buy some CH rudder pedals)but I cannot sort that out using the Options menu. Is this even possible? All of this of course until I can decide which Hotas and throttle set up to by. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Pineapple Pete. :joystick:
  21. Perfect. Thanks.
  22. Many Thanks. Rather daunting but I am slowly learning.
  23. Greetings All, I just installed DCS the basic version thinking that I would learn first on the TF-51. I cannot find a training module for it. Is there such a thing? I tried flying one of the built in missions for the Mustang but I want to learn how to ramp start it and the pilot figure is in the way of some of the controls. Many than ks, Pineapple Pete:joystick:
  24. Hello All, I posted a few weeks ago about troubles downloading but I recently got back to the computer and resolved that problem. Thanks to all that helped. Now, I am trying to find documentation on how to fly the TF-51. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be thankful. Many thanks, Pineapple Pete:joystick:
