  1. Maybe, I'll give it a try but failing that, Ebay I've been inundated all day with questions after listing all the surplus stuff from my last system upgrade. I wish I had got off my BFA a lot sooner and got it sold - good old fleabay!
  2. Oh No... CRASH... How the hell did you sneak in there? Hahahahaha Thanks for the tip - fortunately, I don't have Nvidia (yet) and I'm on Win 10 ;) Are you a Warty?
  3. dburne, Ahhhh, you still got the touch - there's still life in the old dog yet! Sorry to hear you had a few health issues and hope you're enjoying your retirement - same here, it's in itself, another challenge. Fear not, I love ED Forums... I will be reporting back as and when!
  4. Beeroshima, Love the user-name, thanks for your input - some very interesting points for me to consider. Good point - not a problem for me as I do have pedals There being less rotaries on the hog is something which has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works but I'm starting to think that won't be too much of a problem. I'm surprised you reckon the slew on the X-55 is better... god help the hog... I've only just recently got the X-55 slew to do anything useful after editing the registry (not for the faint hearted). I was under the impression the slew on the hog was much better. Presumably, you'e only referring to the DCS A-10C?
  5. dburne, You're a star... if sales wasn't your thing, you missed your true vocation... friggin' glad I didn't meet you sooner... hahahahahahaha... I'd be well skint! Seriously, thanks for the encouragement, I'm sure everything you've said is spot on. Kettle going on... :)
  6. dburne, A GREAT reply... many thanks... I'm still wrestling with the amount of disruption this upgrade will cause me and trying to convince myself that it really will be worth it in the end .. I have made so many custom profiles for the X-55, not just for DCS but also for various planes in my other flying games. For each of these, I have also created easy reference guides and converted them for on-screen viewing via custom kneeboards. I am also a Helios addict and have integrated some X-55 buttons and switches into my custom profiles - oh, so much stuff to re-do (that's the only thing holding me back).... How long can I hold out!
  7. What do you Warty's think of the TARGET software?
  8. dburne, Thanks again... rest assured I will want to get the most out of the Target software. I'll take a look at it a bit later... guess what I'm doing right now... yeah, banging some adverts on Ebay - need to get rid of all the stuff left over after my last system upgrade. This has got my ass in gear for sure and if all goes well, the X-55 will be next. In the meantime, me thinks the Warty will be making it's way to a new home soon! (sod Santa) HoHoHoHo....
  9. No probs... just going back to the differences (I need to do a direct comparison) of features, etc... on the X-55 you get four rotaries on the throttle which can be quite useful. Each of the toggle switches are three-way and, although it doesn't work properly, there is a three-way mode switch. The latter is designed to increase the number of available key commands but I've never used this feature. I have a touchscreen which I use with Helios profiles - I wouldn't enjoy DCS without it. So, all things considered, any shortcomings of the Warthog in term of rotaries may not be an issue for me. On the Warty, I do like the way the switch type and physical position mirrors the one in real life.
  10. 365USD = £239 That's the better deal!
  11. Ah, thanks... you're right... I have seen the items sold separately but so long as there is only one model, I'll just find the best price on the complete set... Oh, what am I saying, none of this matters, silly me... I just write a nice letter, leave it next to a glass of sherry and a mince pie (oh, not forgetting a carrot for Rudolph) and it will just appear (free of charge)...
  12. dburne, glad you saw the funny side of that... only jokin (of course) ... don't want to get caught out with finding the best price to later discover it's a slightly different model... is there only one Warthog HOTAS or do I need to bear anything like this in mind?
  13. dburne, you've convinced me but a word of caution... my lovely wife says if it comes and I don't like it , you'll be getting a visit from a couple of guys with big hands! hahhahahaha!
  14. I would like to hear from someone who has used both products in order to compare how they actually 'feel'. Despite regular maintenance, my X-55 stick often feels, shall we say, 'less than smooth'... some say the build quality of the X-55 is very 'Fisher Price' although I have been quite happy with mine. I suppose it all depends upon what you're comparing it to.
  15. dburne, This is a no brainer really... I'm just agonising over something which I will inevitably end up with... I've always known it... it was just a case of when not if... as we speak, my wife is whispering in one ear saying, 'you won't regret it'... Am I right in saying there has been a significant price drop? If memory serves me right, I thought the Warthog was £400+ when I bought my X-55 for £160. Now the Warthog is going for £260 on Amazon and even less if you shop around!
  16. Stang, Thanks for the offer... I'm in the UK but who knows, someone else might just pop up and snap it up...
  17. WOW... thought I'd have time to put the kettle on before bracing myself for a flurry of answers but you beat me to it! I have quite a lot of time and effort invested in my custom profiles, for each I have created a hard copy for easy reference - more work, less time flying... The X-55 has a great selection of switches, buttons and rotaries... if I upgrade to the Warthog, will I lose any of this functionality?
  18. DCS addict, X-55 owner, studying A-10C, enjoy the other modules also. I have invested considerable time in mapping profiles for most of the modules and producing hard copies for easy reference Dilemma: SWMBO wants to know if I would like a Warthog from Santa? Benefits v drawbacks?
  19. Is it possible to run a batch file via a hotkey once DCS is running? Those familiar with MFCD_FC3 will know this program is normally launched by simply clicking on the batch file icon. For those using Helios, a more elegant solution would be to switch the program on/off using a virtual switch within the profile. I thought this would be quite straight forward and quickly created a desktop shortcut pointing to MFCD-FC3. Within the shortcut 'properties', I assigned a hotkey to run the program. MFCD-FC3 is pre-programmed to exit via the F12 key I then placed a two-way toggle switch in a Helios profile and programmed it to send the hotkeys when in the relevant position. A dry-run was very encouraging and everything worked as intended. However, once DCS is loaded, it seems as though it takes focus and stops the batch file from running. So, the question is... Is it possible to run a batch file once DCS is running? This isn't life-threatening, just a 'nice to have' but maybe someone will know how to resolve this either from a technical point of view or by using some other ingenious workaround?
  20. I have been trying to figure out how to switch MFCD_FC3 on/off via a toggle switch on my Helios profile. First, I created a desktop shortcut to the batch file and assigned a hotkey to run it. Then I programmed the toggle switch to use the same hotkey in the ON position and to fire F12 in the OFF position. A dry run worked fine but it doesn't work when the game is running. I've also tried a few different idea's but still haven't figured it out yet. Maybe someone reading this will be able to advise?
  21. Nice one... were you editing the wrong line by any chance ;)
  22. Hi Greekbull, Apologies if I've kept you waiting... I wasn't able to look at this any sooner but here is a copy of my MFCD_FC3.bat As I have been concentrating on other planes, I hadn't realised that I had deleted my original file so I've had to reinstall and config this .bat to get it up and running. In other words, I can confirm that I have just loaded the F-15C in DCS 1.5 and MFCD_FC3 is running properly on my system. I hope when you see the edited part of the .bat (Line 5), you'll realise that you may have been trying to edit the wrong line - this is where I made the mistake when I first tried to get it running. Also, bear in mind the XY co-ords entered are specific to my monitor arrangement which is three monitors grouped into one via AMD eyefinity (5760x1080) for the game plus a 1920x1080 touchscreen which sits precisely to the right of the main 'game' screen (when viewed in windows 'display settings') - therefore total screen res of 7680x1080 Another thought, have you installed a Java runtime environment (JREeight) and if so, have you checked to make sure it is the correct version for your operating system? Finally, be aware that it might be best to test MFCD_FC3 before running Helios profile, This way you can see if it's running on your touchscreen without running the risk that it might be hidden by the actual Helios profile when that is also running - hope this makes sense. Cheers for now, let us know how you get on. Good luck! MFC_FC3.rar
  23. Hi Greekbull, Yes, that's the right file and it will! I'll send you a copy of my .bat later this morning.
  24. ah right... thought so, just thought i'd double-check... re. MFCD (resizing)... if memory serves me right, this is done by editing the config file using notepad++ (i think this caught me out when i did mine... i was editing the wrong line.. the one you need is the one below the example... if this makes sense... may be easier for me to post my config but not at my PC right now...
  25. The instrument I was referring to is the round green one (RWR) situated in the upper right-hand side of the panel. Is this the same one which you have got working?
