  1. 1. The helicopter counts. If you fly solo and disconnect or die that helicopter is gone. If your co-pilot is still in it and flying then no loss is generated. 2. All weapons are allowed, even bombs, except for Vikhr's, Sturm's, Ataka's and Hellfires. See above.
  2. As you wish. Feel free to sing up a co-pilot if you want to.
  3. Server News: Helicopters Tournament 15 is on! Signups are open NOW.

  5. When the MiG-21 and the F-5 were released I got more interested in DCS and almost stopped flying any other modules. ACG_IronJockel was the first to put a server out there (or was there someone else I'm not aware of?) and he had one mission only that was restarting every several hours. It had most modules on both sides with the MiG-21 and the F-5 being the only exception. The Su-25T and the A-10C were available too. I wrote a long and detailed pm to ACG_IronJockel suggesting quite a few things. Turned out he wasn't really into DCS that much, which surprised me, and didn't mind me making changes in the mission. For the record, and you, Enigma, coming from IL2 yourself probably know this, the ACG guys are mostly IL2 players. Maybe that's changed now. I disabled many options (e.g. external views, F10 map, etc.), added Combined Arms, the MiG-15, the F-86, made sure not one module or unit is available for both sides, etc. You know, the stuff you usually find in my missions. Designing more missions was next, then making tournaments and then hosting special events. It went well for as long as it lasted, but was very impractical the way things were running. After all, I had no access to the server's machine and that held me back quite often. Long story short, we parted ways. I tried not to, simply because I didn't want to host a server myself, make sure it's funded, always up to date, etc., but it was inevitable. Good old NaCH offered me a server for FREE! Basically, he was paying for it and no one else. That lasted for a year and then I had to start a new server while relying on donations for 50% of the server's costs. There were even months where the donations covered the server's costs entirely and I didn't have to chip in at all. All the above led to me hoping for a second Cold War server to boost the entire Cold War community, help it grow in numbers, which then would help with the funding and maybe, just maybe generate some interest among developers to work on older jets and helicopters rather than modern stuff. I even thought about hosting another server myself with a complete different concept. It was even suggested to me and some offered their ideas, but that would've had been way too much to handle. Also, and this is not a less important reason, when I started playing DCS and later on hosting, I was still studying and had plenty of time. Now I have a full time job, married and have 3 little buggers Not much time to tend to my DCS stuff any more. Ain't complaining, just saying. Thank God for his blessings! By the time Enigma's Cold War server was launched the population on the Cold War 1947 - 1991 server started declining. Some went over to Enigma's to check out the new hype which is natural, some stopped playing DCS at all and others had different reasons. A little wonder there were fingers pointed towards you, Enigma, and towards some ex-avid Cold War 1947 - 1991 players. There were some nasty incidents on the Cold War 1947 - 1991 server involving players lashing at each other, and I was provided with enough screenshots and tacview files of players who obviously deliberately teamkilled or usurped the game in a way to ruin the fun somehow. People started speculating and more fingers were pointed towards more people in all directions. It drove me mad! And I'm certainly not into DCS for this type of kindergarten. And despite having little time for DCS, I forced myself to check out this whole drama to get to the bottom of things. At the end of the day, it wasn't worth it. Keep doing what you're doing and good luck with the Syria campaign. God bless us all!
  6. Server News: - Operation Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed kicks off this Saturday, 24.04.2022, around 1800 zulu. - Operation Bandar 1949 kicks off this Sunday, 25.04.2022, around 1800 zulu.
  7. It is the LF. IX and not the LF. IX (CW). I didn't like the clipped wings so went with the other. Yup! Based my choice on optics only In round 1 and 2 (especially 1) Blue had more F-5's and were able to scare off the MiG's. However, and despite reaching the TA's often enough, A-4's weren't very effective. I think most A-4 players are not used to flying in such a hostile MP environment. And while they were struggling with that, you had veterans and aces of the server flying the MiG's looking for the kill. I could add more F-5's as posted above, but it's not like all 8 x F-5 slots were taken. Maybe reducing the slots for MiG's is the answer? I'll have to check out the scenario again.
  8. Sounds good! Can you list the featured aircraft, please? Godspeed!
  9. I'll make one for Syria too. Might add B-52's as well. I'll figure out something.
  10. Server News: * Operation Hold The Line is now offline. * Operation Bandar 1949: - I-16's removed. - Instead, 12 x Spitfire LF Mk. lX's were added to Red and operate from Bandar Lengeh Airbase. - The Red road base has been removed. - Added 8 x MiG-15's to Red with 2 more slots at Lar Airbase. - Added 8 x MiG-15's to Red with no additional slots at Bandar Lengeh Airbase. - Added 16 x F-86's to Blue with 2 more slots at Lavan Island Airbase. More aircraft and slots are possible. We'll see how round 2 goes. Operation Bandar 1949 kicks off again today, Sunday, 10.04.2022, around 1830 zulu.
  11. Reminder: The new mission, Bandar 1949, kicks off in about 90 minutes.
  12. Sure. And wont wont have its RWR either. The mission covers Cyprus, which the best detailed area on the map, so it is a shame to remove it. However, it is removed and I'll have to polish it thoroughly. already added to the to-do list. Thought about it and not against it. We'll see how the debut goes first. I prefer the MiG-15. Turns better. Possible scenario, yes. And while we're at it, what do you guys think of the Mosquito? Or would that be a stretch if added to Red?
  13. I wouldn't mind adding the MiG-19 either. Guns only anyway. And the Sabre doesn't have the GAR-8. We'll see how it plays out.
  14. That's why all ground units' skill level is set to good. There's average, good, high and excellent. Hopefully this restricts AAA's a bit and they don't fire like sharpshooters. The I-16 is the only Soviet aircraft we have from that era. We'll see how it goes before I make any changes if at all. I'm kind of sceptical when it comes to these early CW jets. You don't see many players flying these modules very often.
  15. Server News: - The missions Disturbed Pacific and Last Man Standing are now offline. - Work on the missions Swedish Delivery and Homs have started.
  16. Well, the F-86 is faster, thus less likely to get hit, and can carry rockets and/bombs too. That would be my choice. In fact, all Blue aircraft in this mission are capable of CAS/striking. On the other hand, I expect MiG-15 pilots to drop their 2 bombs in one run on a road outpost hoping to hit it and finish off the ground units with their 37 mm cannon. I'm not sure how popular the I-16 module is and I don't recall seeing it on the SoW server or anywhere else. To be honest though, I don't fly any WWll stuff, so I might've overlooked that. However, the I-16 and despite being a rather slower aircraft, can carry rockets and bombs. Would be great to see someone flying it.
  17. What would that be?
  18. Operation: Bandar 1949 - The mission features the MiG-15 and the F-86 as the main aircraft. - JTAC slots are available, however, all ground units are AI controlled. - AAA's only. No SAM's of whatsoever type. Situation: RED Airbases: Lar and Bandar Lengeh BLUE Airbases: Lavan Island and Kish Intl Blue Forces have launched a large number of landing crafts towards Bandar e Charak Harbour, with Sherman tanks and half-tracks being the main vehicles deployed ashore. Blue Forces have managed to capture and hold the town of Bandar e Charak by setting up 6 road outposts, a number of half-tracks and various types of AAA's to repel any potential liberation attempts by Red's Air Force. Meanwhile, Sherman tanks and half-tracks are pushing further north towards the Red Military Base. - Red wins if all 6 road outposts and Blue ground units surrounding them are destroyed. - Blue wins if the Red Military Base is destroyed. - All ground units are AI controlled. NOTE: Teamwork is the key! Use SRS and get on comms. Red Objectives: Main Objective: - Destroy all 6 road outposts and Blue ground units surrounding them at the bullseye. Secondary Objective: - Search and destroy enemy convoys on their way to our military base coming from the south. - A total of 4 convoys consisting of Sherman tanks and half-tracks that will attack the military base. - Note that Sherman tanks can't be destroyed by guns. Not even the 37 mm one. *** Check out the briefing images for more details *** -------------------------------------------------------- Frequencies: MiG-15's - EWR / GCI: 4.95 MHz I-16's - EWR: 124 MHz (Button A) Check out the main page of this thread for MiG-15's SRS special setup. There is a way to make them tune to 124 MHz, so that MiG-15's and I-16's can communicate with one another. Blue Objectives: Main Objective: - Destroy vital structures at the enemy's Military Base at the bullseye. Secondary Objective: - Protect friendly assets and ground forces at the captured town of Bandar e Charak. *** Check out the briefing images for more details *** -------------------------------------------------------- Frequencies: F-86's - EWR / GCI: Callsign: Axeman - 251 MHz P-51's and P-47's: Callsign: Darknight - 130 MHz (Channel A)
  19. Blue is invading Red, yes. Blue managed to capture and hold a vital town and its harbour. Red will have to do some air-to-ground to stop any further advancement by Blue, while Blue needs to protect their assets in the captured town and strike a nearby (30 km further north) military base, which Red needs to protect. Note that MiG-15's can carry 2 bombs only. FAB-50 or FAB-100. Therefore, the air-to-ground objective for Red is simpler than that of Blue. Combined Arms might be involved, not sure yet. Half-tracks for the most part. Last Man Standing is not very popular, you're right. I'll remove it too.
  20. Server News: I'm a bit slower than usual with delivering these days (real life matters), but progress is still being made: - The new mission featuring the MiG-15 and the I-16 vs the F-86, the P-51 and the P-47 is almost ready. Persian Gulf is the featured map. The mission takes place in ca. 1949. - The missions Homs and Swedish Delivery require some bugs fixing/reworking/adjustments that will be made once work on the new mission is completed. - Operation Disturbed Pacific will be removed. Not many players like the map due to lack of larger lands. The islands are rather small with long distances between them. Shame. - Helicopters Tournament 15 is ready. A date still needs to be determined. Waiting on 104th_Maverick to find a place for it in his schedule. - Once all the above is done and the Combined Arms module is hopefully fixed, work on Combined Arms Tournament 5 will begin. That's a lot of if's though. We'll see...
  21. Arab-Israeli War - Round 3: Red won! In the beginning of the mission Red were outnumbered by 1:3 for about 20-30 minutes. Still, they managed to nuke the industrial area by Haifa! Throughout the mission Red had a bit more players with almost everyone flying MiG's looking for bandits. This made it hard for the outnumbered Blue strikers to get the job done. 3 hours into the mission Red was able to capture both Kiryat Shmona and Rosh Pina Airbases. Possible changes for future rounds: - Less slots for MiG's or more for F-5's and A-4's. - More M60 tanks for Blue. - Less bunkers to destroy at the TA's for Blue to get the job done. - Your suggestions.
  22. I'd hate to call off the event again due to CA bugs. After all, plenty to do for all aircraft involved in the mission. By the way, the A-4's latest update should've fixed the Shrike issue. I remember you talking about it in your stream.
  23. Thanks! Was just about to. Had a long day.
  24. Reminder: Make sure you have the latest A-4 version for this Saturday's Arab-Israeli War session.
