  1. I sent a mail 1 month ago so I sent a pm but havent heard anything yet so I wondered if it's been missed
  2. I tried to figure out if the bare metal AJS 37 Viggen is historically accurate? Atleast a couple of AJ Viggens at F 7 were in service with this paint in 1973-1974. Then it's my understanding they were all repainted in FOA-camouflage in just a few years, long before AJS-upgrade in the 90s. My understanding is SE-DXN/37098 wasn't silver when it was in service as AJS and was repainted recently when it was restored? So no silver AJS Viggen in service I believe? I must only fly historically accurate liveries and loadouts :D
  3. I experience the same with the RB15F. Always works the first time I use them, even if I used another weapon before. But after rearming them again for another go they're completely dead and cant be launched in any mode
  4. Anywhere jan 1-26
  5. Watched the whole stream. Viggens a2a performance was not bad! shame about the rb 04 though XD Maybe the ships were too close together?
  6. No question about it
  7. Luckily the closest we ever came to finding out was the "whiskey on the rocks" incident. I believe it was the Viggen being scrambled then? Could have been lansen instead.
  8. Very gloomy documentary. On a soviet invasion scenario "The pilots have practiced hard for just this scenario. They're aware what will meet them and they know there wont be a happy ending" Ppffshh yeah! For the fleet captain recieving the business end of the RBS15 to the face :D Remember the PSA in the yellow pages always used to say "any news about our surrender is a lie"
  9. I saw this in the original thread aswell and loved reading about it. Great work! Thank you for taking your time putting it together. :)
  10. Oh very cool! That sounds like so much fun that is your actual job.. :D Yeah that makes sense. I think it's cool that they endorse it ^^
  11. Oh no I was in Linköping 2 days ago I could have measured! But I bet people from the LNS team have been and studied an AJS37 at some museum atleast. Cobra have you had any help from any museum? Or what does SAAB think about you making their airplane? :D As I believe Dassault didnt want Razbam to call the Mirage the Mirage... Maybe thats too political to ask:)
  12. It looks polished enough to me... Let's release it already! :D Honestly though the level of detail on those exterior screenshots around the wings and intakes look amazing! Makes wonders for the immersion the subtle dents and rivets and scraped paint etc EDIT: ALso this beautiful level of detail means its heavier on the hardware than the mig21? I need an upgrade
  13. My body is ready
  14. Less than 23hrs now yes? :D I predict the stream will "reveal" the viggen, give us a release date in like 2 weeks and then the following 2 weeks we get video tutorials dropping every other day leading up to release. Hopefully. I highly doubt release or early access of any kind tmrw
  15. Did they ever paint jaktviggen in green camouflage anyway?
  16. Ow that bird strike was brutal! :O First the article says the automated system ejected him then later it said he ejected himself? Probably in a split second being half blind from shards of glass in his face? Can't imagine what that must have been like :(
  17. Somewhere deep in the thread there's probably even a chart for changes in the tires contact-surface-area with the ground relative to payload, outside barometric pressures and temperature How far can it go before the viggen release can save us
  18. So excited! It really puts to mind the old 80s saab commercials like this one
  19. Viggen could fly faster, higher and carry more weapons than Gripen can. Hence people thought Viggen was better when Gripen entered service.
  20. I think the point of that slow pass the viggen does is to display it's maneuverability at such slow speeds.
  21. Oh yeah, that does make more sense! :D I imagine EW systems must be the most difficult to simulate in DCS? Probably a lot of guesswork as most of it is classified. I've heard a lot of times the Gripen is supposed to have a really good EW suite. Maybe the Viggen had to. Wonder if that in anyway would be possible to represent in the sim
  22. This is not my area of expertise so I might misunderstand, but this sounds amazing: "Även prov med långa remsor, remsband, som var hoprullade kring en tyngd, provades mot danska radarstationer med låg bärfrekvens. Verkan var helt bedövande och delar av Danmark mörklades av de långa ledande remsorna, som kortslöt kraftledningar." So, just chaff deployed from a dispenser mounted on one Draken had the effect of basically blinding parts of Denmark and even shortcutting powerlines? I suppose low freQ radar sacrifices "signal strength" for longer range but still... Will the viggen have these amazing pods? :D
  23. You're right. A few aircraft had computers onboard before the Viggen. I believe though that the Viggen computer, (the CK 37), was the first onboard computer using IC, integrated circuits. IS this because Saab engineers were so ahead of the curve compared to the rest of the world as some in here seem to suggest? Of course no. At the time when the new central computer was being designed for the Viggen, early 60's, was the same time the first generation IC's, (American invention), became available. It's as simple as that I think.
  24. Have you seen the shot down DC-3 on display in the Flygvapenmuseum in Linköping? It was such an eerie experience seeing the wreckage there and learning the story about the crew, the mission and then how it just disappeared. It definitely was a different time back then during the cold war. Not only that governments were less transparent but also what was considered rational or acceptable aswell.
  25. I'm from Sweden so this makes me very giddy and excited! :) I understand people from other corners of the earth are not as thrilled about an obscure Swedish aircraft that never saw real combat or played any significant role in the grand scheme of things. But my suggestion is that try to be open-minded and learn a bit about this aircraft and it's peculiar saab traits and design solutions and I think anyone who is a fan of military aviation and technology can relate to some of the reasons why this bird is actually interesting and deserves to be in DCS!
