[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
Fangio replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Could you please point me to where I can download the Simshaker for Aviators software? I tried the downloads page from Andre's blog as linked in your signature but when I click on "setup file" it takes me to a page with "403 Error" and nothing downloads. I get the same error again when attempting to download the "Jetseat control panel and massage app". Am I correct that to use the Jetseat with DCS those are the 2 apps I need to install? Is there anything else I will need (i have win10)? Do those need to be installed in a particular order? Thanks! -
I just got my VKB Gunfighter Pro with KG12 grip.... AWESOME! Super adjustable, superior accuracy, great setup tools - best stick I have ever had.
-
THANK YOU to everyone for all the help! I went flying in the TF-51D for over an hour last night - 4 takeoffs and landing without a crash. Yipeeeeee! I pretty much have all my controls working now and most of the important stuff mapped to a controller. Flying in the rift is fun but checking 6 and low resolution seem like they will make online play a big disadvantage. We shall see. I am just getting started on trying to optimize the graphics and get it to look as good as I can. Getting OTT now and will play with that as well as other settings. Thanks again - awesome to get such great help!

After 18 months of occasional frustration and long periods of nothing trying to get an ancient joystick to work (not Windows 10 compatible...) I finally got a new VKB Gunfighter Pro and now have all controls setup and working. Yipeeeeeeee Now all I need to do is figure out how to get my oculus rift working and program all functions to my joystick, throttle and other controllers and then start learning to fly this thing. Any help anyone can provide on this is HUGELY appreciated! Here are some things that have me stumped right now, gotta get this stuff figured out. 1. When using the rift, how can I get the game to display on my TV monitor in full screen as if I was not in the rift. Currently, the game is in a boxed window and all the rift motions effect the view so that when I want to look at a menu and make changes it is very difficult. Basically I have to try and make changers from inside the rift and using the keyboard then is very hard. I would prefer to set the rift aside and use the regular monitor. I have a cockpit I built, it is on casters so I roll it in from of my wall mounted 65" 4K display and would prefer using that for making setup changes and such but cannot figure how to make it do this. For example in Project Cars I can just set the rift aside and use the in game menus like normal no sweat on the big screen. How can I do that in DCS? 2. VR Mouse lock ? What is that, how does it work and where do I find it in controls? 3. I have played around with VR settings and adjusted the pixel density to 1.5 and even 2 but it does not seem to make any difference at all in game? It seems that none of the visual changes I try have any effect on the in game look at all? Does it matter what screen resolution I choose? Will it slow down rift performance if I have 4K enabled on the big screen or should I do a lower resolution on the big screen? 4. Oculus Tray Tool -- what is that, where can I download the latest version and does anyone know of a basic guide or tutorial to help with that? 5. This one is a biggie.... When I am sitting the plane playing with controls and I want to access the controls menu, I hit the escape key and choose Controls from the menu - this opens the controls UI. When I am done making changes and I want to go back to the plane and try them out this proves impossible. I click the "OK" button at the bottom of the screen but it does nothing. There is no way to get out of the controls menu UI, I am stuck. Ok does not work - Cancel does not work, the little X button at the top right does not work. I have to exit to window and close DCS by right clicking the tool bar icon to close the program and reopen it. Also maybe related.... when I first launch the plane, NO controls work at all. Nothing - nada - no controls at all. After I click on stuff and hit escape to access the menu (but not go into the controls menu or there is no way out as per above) and then go back in the plane the controls will suddently start working. Very strange. 6. When I am in the plane and I want to exit out to the main game menu, there is no way to do this either. I hit escape that opens the menu, I choose exit and that takes me to a debriefing screen. It is impossible to leave this screen. Clicking "close" does nothing. The only way to get away from the debriefing screen is to take the rift off and use the mouse to right click the DCS icon in the tool bar and tell it to close and then relaunch the game from scratch. Frustrating. 7. How can I get sound in the oculus headphones? The rift display works but no sound and no luck trying to find any adjustment for this in game. Is it possible to have the headphones AND the main speakers both work? In project cars this is impossible and that sucks. Thanks again for the help, no way I could get this all figured out on my own! Fangio PS - any old Warbirds or Air Warrior guys around here? I was HUGE into online flights sims 20 years ago or so... remember paying $4 per hour and having $400 monthly bills in Warbirds!

New Guy: Just Getting Started... Where to start?
Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in General Tutorials
First off... THANK YOU for all the tips and help. This sim is HARD. I dont mean the flying, after 2 full days working on this I still have not gotten to a point where that is possible. It is very hard to get everything setup and working together. Art-j -- that is great info. I was saving all the changes I made for each controller under a single profile name so I guess it was replacing one with another and this is likely why so many things seemed to not work after I made changes and why changes seemed to vanish. I will get started setting everything up again and will save a different profile for each controller. I am not using "game" mode, instead doing only sim and turning off all aids and such. I am mapping controls while sitting in the plane on the ramp in the cold start quick mission. Seems the easiest way but still having many issues. Here are some things that have me stumped right now, gotta get this stuff figured out. 1. When using the rift, how can I get the game to display on my TV monitor in full screen as if I was not in the rift. Not sure if I had mouse enabled in VR settings - will check and make sure to try that when I get home today. I am also going to download and try the Oculus Tray Tool and see what that can do - any tips are appreciated! What is IPD? I think I had pixel density set to 1.0 so I will play with that as well - I didnt know what that was until doing a bit of reading here!
-
Awesome!!! Thanks for the explanations Don. Will download and setup OTT when I get home and push on trying to get this all setup and working. My first attempts in the Rift were pretty terrible - very blurry, impossible to read any text in cockpit. Also cannot get mouse to work and cannot click anything after the first attempt as the mouse cursor vanishes leaving no means of engaging with buttons and switches in cockpit. I gotta figure out how to the mouse in Rift....
-
What is the purpose or advantaged to be gained by using this Oculus Tray Tool? I am new and trying to figure out how to setup my rift for DCS and struggling to find much in the way of instructions or guidance. I did get it to work but the resolutions is terrible - cannot read any labels or writing in the cockpit. Would OTT help? What is ASW? Anti submarine warfare??? Sometimes the acronyms make deciphering this stuff pretty tough!

New Guy: Just Getting Started... Where to start?
Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in General Tutorials
THANK YOU for all the replies! I did purchase Normandy and the WWII assets pack on Monday before the discounted deal went away but I took all the advice here and started by downloading just the basic DCS World and am playing around with the TF-51D. I did get all my controls setup and working with my PC which was a huge job in itself. VKB Gunfighter pro stick, CH Pro Throttle, Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals and a Saitek quadrant. Had some conflicts and setup issues (still cannot figure out how to reverse the sliders for the quadrant?) but finally got it all working. I played around with the controls settings in DCS but it is very confusing. I will go make changes and then go back into the plane but when I get in-plane the changes are not present? Very strange. I saved a profile and try to load a profile but something is not working right so I gotta figure all that out. It is not very intuitive. Getting views working needs to come first - not being able to really look around just wont fly. I have an Oculus Rift and am trying to set that up but so far many issues. When I connected the Oculus and launch DCS it also opens the Oculus software and freezes the mouse at the center of the screen. The mouse cursor is there but is stuck - won't move. When this happened the only thing possible is to press and hold the reset button on the PC to hard reboot it. That happened many times, very frustrating. I did get it working to a degree so I could sit in the aircraft and look around but have problems with using the mouse to navigate around the cockpit and click things. It seems to work at first but once you click something the mouse cursor vanishes and nothing I do will bring it back. So I can click one thing and that is it, no more mouse cursor and thus no means of operating controls. Any ideas on what is causing this or a fix? -
I finally got a new joystick (VKB Gunfighter Pro) and hope to be flying in DCS WWII today if I can get everything setup and working right! Yipeeeeeeee But - Where to start? DCS seems to be very complex with many modules, terrains and such. Given that I am brand new and as yet do not have any aspect of DCS installed at all, what do I do first? Is there a tutorial for brand new players that can guide from scratch what is needed step by step? I assume I download and install DCS 2.1 as a first step? Then use a module updater to install Normandy and Assets Pack? Same for planes? I am a WWII prop plane gunfighter... do I have to have NTTR to have everything work correctly? How about the WWII assets pack? If I have that AND I buy combined arms does that mean I can drive a Tiger tank? Does combined arms give you control of WWII ground units and allow you to play as a ground unit? How and where to find online play? Hyperlobby? Any guidance for someone starting brand new from scratch would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Please Help - Saitek X45 cannot get to work...
Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The Pedals plug into a separate USB, not the joystick. Pedals work fine regardless of whether stick is plugged in or not. I have tried all the different USB ports including 3.0 USB and older versions. Drivers for pedals installed automatically fine. Stick has all the same problems regardless of pedals. -

Ok - I got it figured out and have now deleted that .Pr0 file. I rebooted and tested the joystick again... no change. :( -

Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Tone.... I followed your instructions but it did not work. I can change the owner to me but there is no option in the principals selection window for Users nor any option that allows me to make any changes. When I do go into the UI for any of the listed Principals none of the selections are clickable, such as "Full Control" is listed with a check box but the check box cannot be checked - it is greyed out. So I cannot gain control over the file. Does it seem like this would be tied to the issue of not having any means at all of gaining adminstrator privledges? -
At this point, I cannot do anything on my PC as the Administrator. Gaining Administrator access is impossible. Until I can get a solution to that I don't see anything else as being important because without any administrator access I cannot delete or configure any system files. I spent 3+ hours on trying to gain Administrator access this morning without luck - tried everything on Google I could find. I would find it one of the most incredible coincidences in history if my controller "went bad" at the exact point in time where I plugged in a different controller to the computer. The odds of such a coincidence must be astronomical. I do not believe there is a hardware malfunction in the controller. How could ALL of the axis go bad at the exact same time but all of the buttons remain functional? Not likely. This is a configuration and likely a registry issue but I have no idea how to approach correcting either.
-
I didn't build the PC - I purchased it from iBuypower. Here is the help thread with the most activity.... Tone71 has tried to help but at this stage I cannot even get an Administrator account to work correctly: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=181728 Yes - my joystick is ancient but it DID work initially and I cannot afford to replace it currently. It worked fine when first plugged in so I see no reason it should not work fine again once whatever the issues are can be fixed. I do get insanely frustrated with all this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
-
I have already posted help threads relative to all the problems I have had - both here and on other forums. I would also be more than willing to PAY for help but there is nobody to pay. Issues have not been configuring joystick buttons and such in game - issues are getting joysticks to function in windows 10. The issue with gaming on the PC is that it is a never ending nightmare of driver incompatibility and other hardware interface disasters. Things just don't work and to get them to work you need a computer science degree or more. This is the entire reason games like DCS only appeal to a very tiny niche market. There are MANY people who are into history and aviation who would be thrilled to get into playing this - BUT - it is not possible. Average regular people do not have access because the technical knowledge required to actually get everything working is far beyond what 99% of the population possesses. At least with console games they actually work.
-
I am extremely eager and anxious to play DCS. Over the past 14 months I have invested over $2500 into a new gaming PC and Oculus Rift plus over 40 hours of time all in an effort to play PC games including DCS. To date - I have not played at all. It is proving fundamentally impossible. Getting my joystick, throttle and pedals to work is simply no possible. I am not a computer programmer, computer hardware engineer nor a long term technical geek who understands everything about how to configure the dozens of apparently "moon-shot complex" things that must all happen before PC gaming is possible. It is shocking that this is THIS insanely complex. Are there any plans to port DCS to a console? With the xbox - launch a game and it just works. Plug in a controller and it just works. Gaming time = 100% Complex configuration and driver campatibility wars = 0%. It seems insanity to me that companies producing games are developing games for the PC. Why would any business person every develop a game hoping to sell many copies and then focus on a platform that fundamentally excludes 99% of the population? If there is any hope of DCS being made available on a console, please let me know.

Please Help - Saitek X45 cannot get to work...
Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Tone71.... First off.... THANK YOU for all your efforts to help! I did search as you instructed for that file. I did find it. I also found many other files beginning sai that appear to be related to the X45 including many .dll files.... That said, I cannot delete any of them. I am not allowed too. Any attempt returns a message: "File Access Denied You need permission to perform this action You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this file" Nothing I do changes this. It does not appear that I am logged in as an administrator nor is it possible for anyone to ever login as administrator. Note that I am the only user for this PC and always have been. There is NO other person who ever uses this PC. If I am not the administrator, nobody is. I spent 3 full hours searching google and trying everything I could find regarding how to login as the administrator, how to grant adminstrator privledges and how to manage user accounts. Nothing works. At this point it is impossible to proceed with deleting that file or any file in System32 because it is impossible to access, create or designate an administrator account for this computer. So.... how to gain administrator account rights in Windows 10. THAT is the new major tech problem. This is all very shocking to me. That just doing simple things and getting basic stuff to work on a computer is THIS hard represents a massive failure in PC design. I do now understand why PC gaming will never approach mainstream adoption. -
Please Help - Saitek X45 cannot get to work...
Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Tone71.... following your instructions step by step - 1. With your X45 plugged in, go into your Device Manager; you should see it under Human Interface Devices. I do see it - twice. Once it says: "Saitek X45 Flight Controller (HID)" and the second listing right after the first says "Saitek X45 Flight Controller (USB)" 2. From the view menu click Show Hidden Devices; more X45 entries may appear, depending on USB ports you've tried. More X45 entries did NOT appear but a number of other controllers did. Many of them such as the Logitech G27 Racing Wheel is also listed twice but it is grayed out I assume as it is not plugged in. There is however a double listed and not grayed out "Logitech Virtual Hid Device" that I have no idea what could be as no Logitech device is plugged in? I did uninstall both of these. I tested the joystick in joy.cpl at this point and the problem was exactly the same - no change. So I tried moving on to your next step... 5. Right-click X45 (USB) in Device Manager and Update Driver Software; select Browse My Computer for Driver Software; select Let Me Pick From a List...; from here you should be able to select USB Input Device, which is hopefully the driver that was originally installed and working, before you installed Saitek drivers. 6. Test again. I did this for both of the X45s listed (USB and HID) and when I was done no X45 was noted in Device Manager as it had changed to just game controller. I went in and tested and now nothing at all works. The axis are not pinned to one extreme as before but instead they just sit in the middle and there is no response to controller input at all. Calibration also does nothing. So.... I messed with it some more. I uninstalled from Device Manager all of the game controllers (not those grayed out and not attached) and unplugged the X45. Then I plugged the X45 back in hoping to get an install routine. The X45 installs the same and once again does not work. The axis are back to being pinned in an extreme corner and refuse to calibrate at all. When looking at the stick calibration or test screen, the little x is pinned to the top left corner and does not move regardless of stick input. Same for rotaries, throttle slider and rudder rocker switch on the throttle. Basically - everything is the same, no change. :( -

I did download the X45 driver from that site and installed it. No change. The calibration routine and testing in properties show the same symptoms. -

Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Bitmaster.... I just spent 45 minutes drafting a very detailed response with notes relative to everything I have tried -- the forum apparently auto logged me out and then lost the entire post when I clicked to submit. Poof - gone.... So. All over again.... briefly this time (draft in word doc then cut and paste.... I may learn slow but I do learn! ). I do not have DCS installed at all. There is no point to buying the game if my joystick does not work in windows. I have IL2 CLOD - it does not work in that. It does not work in windows at all, cannot calibrate. No axis function. No joystick, no throttle, no rotaries. All buttons work fine. I see all this in either TEST or CALIBRATE within windows. When I first got the PC and plugged in the X45 – it worked perfectly. When I later plugged in the rudder pedals, they worked fine but the joystick was dead – all the problems appeared and have never gone away. Since the time another controller was plugged into the PC, the X45 has never worked correctly regardless of what I attempt. The Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals will work fine. I play Project Cars using a Logitech G27 wheel / pedal combo and it works fine. The X45 does not work. I have not attempted to use the X45 at the same time the G27 is plugged in – I swap them. Also, when I do plug in the X45 I always plug it into a USB 2.0 port – NOT a USB 3. I believe these issues have everything to do with the “registry” (whatever that really means). I think the core issue is something to do with windows registry and the X45 being screwed up there. I did read online that others got it to work but with no real details on how plus it DID work for me at first so I am sure there is some way to fix this. -

As I posted in the copied threat in input/output --- Anyone who can help me over the phone and/or in a screen sharing session such that this problem is fixed and I am rendered 100% able to fly DCS with my X45 stick/throttle and the Saitek pro flight pedals.... I WILL PAY YOU $50. -
Please Help - Saitek X45 cannot get to work...
Fangio replied to Fangio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Tone71 -- thank you for the suggestion. I did uninstall everything related to the X45 I could find and then installed the drivers you linked too but that did not work. Problem remains exactly the same. The drivers you linked too do not include X45 drivers. The X45 is no longer supported by Saitek. I did download X52 Windows 10 64byte drivers which would seem to be the closest or oldest device drivers Saitek offers. I remain stuck and unable to fly. Close to $2500 all in on this little expedition to once again become a fighter pilot and not one flight to show for it. Incredibly frustrating. I know that it is possible for this stick to work but I have no clue at all how to make that happen. When people wonder why flight sims remain such a tiny niche market - THIS is why. You pretty much have to be a software/hardware engineer with a very deep understanding of software code and hardware configuration drivers to have an hope of getting PC games to work. It will never be mass market. Anyone who is willing and capable to get on a phone with me and/or do screen sharing to get this all fixed and working correctly there is $50 in it. Thats right - I will pay whomever can get this all fixed and have my up and flying with no hardware problems with this X45 stick/throttle and my Saitek pro flight pedals will get a $50 payment from me. -
I am an old internet fighter pilot looking to get back into the fight. Last flew online around 2002. Things are sure different now! Everything is so much more complicated and getting stuff to work on a PC seems like rocket science the frustration has me needing to kill something. I have a newist PC I bought specifically for DCS and with an eye to getting an Oculus just over a year ago. I posted a thread then about getting a PC, the full specs of my machine are in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=153536 I have a Saitek X45 stick and throttle and Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals. The X45 is ancient, I used it over 15 years ago flying Warbirds and AH. But it is paid for and right now that matters. When I first plugged in the X45 it worked fine. No problems at all. Calibrated in windows perfectly and gave no issues. I got IL2 CLOD running a bit but then I plugged in the rudder pedals and suddenly they stick axis would not function. All axis - joystick, throttle, sliders and rotating knobs - they are pinned to a corner. By that I mean that when you go into the joysticks properties and test, the little x indicator does not move around in sync with the joystick but rather it does not move at all and stays pinned into a corner - to the far extreme. The raw value will indicate 1. The throttle and sliders are the same. All hat switches and buttons indicate and work fine. This of course makes flying any sim impossible, no joystick no controls. I did post a thread about this on the ATAG forums a while back. The issue never got resolved but this does show some ideas and explanations of the issue: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...ad.php?t=22121 This issue has to be all about Windows 10 and an ancient Saitek system with drivers that have compatibility issues. It also has something to do with the computers registry and how a joystick is noted or listed there. I am NOT a tech guru in any sense and I honestly have no idea what a computer registry really is. I certainly have no idea how to edit one. I have tried uninstalling the X45 and plugging it back in to try and get it to install as a default generic joystick and then just calibrate it in windows but I cannot get that to work and really do not know what I am doing. It also seems that when I plug it in and it installs itself when I look in Device Manager it shows as - Other Devices - Unknown Device. I do not know what is going on but when the X45 gets plugged in and it installs itself something goes on that screws it up from working. Driver? The X45 is not supported by Saitek for Windows 10 for sure. But it DID work initially AND it seems that it would work if installed as just a plain generic joytick/throttle. But also with the rudder pedals. Has to be a way. I have this PC running and the Oculus Rift working and it runs Project Cars just fine. I am turning some pretty hot laps at Spa in my Lotus 98T F1 car using a Logitech G27 wheel and pedals setup. That works without any issues. I know this can be fixed and made to work but I am totally lost at this point. It would be awesome to get DCS running and do some VR flying in a 109 but I cannot afford to buy a new stick setup right now. Any help here is hugely appreciated. Fangio
