Is there any keybind for the Mirage that you can use to cycle the countermeasure modes up and down, similar to how CMS right/left work in the A-10? Am I just being stupid?

To be fair, I was able to pull 23.3G in the Eagle in 1.5.4 with no ill effects. Now it was only for a fraction of a second, but I can see why the Flanker dudes are a little upset, even if the Eagle is my baby. Not particularly relevant, but I do understand the reasons for the frustration.

I spent the day with an F-15 pilot at RIAT last year, and we talked the dangers for a while. One of his friends had had to abandon an Eagle because of this exact thing; the nose had been slightly damaged by something (he didn't know what) and that even the small difference in shape had disrupted the airflow so much at high speeds as to make the jet uncontrollable. I suppose it makes sense, since basically the entire jet has to fly through the hole made by the radome. This is purely anecdotal of course, but it does seem to be something the Eagle suffers from. -
With both side having difficulty coordinating in previous rounds, perhaps it's not wise to make it harder by removing the F-10 stuff.

While true, we exclusively have the Mirage now, so it's difficult to complain.

I understand that the lag is frustrating but blaming the opposite team does nothing but create unnecessary friction between the sides. We are adversaries, not personal enemies. Weedwacker I'm not sure I agree; the Eagle is certainly less formidable without the AMRAAM but I wouldn't say it's crap, and I think the statistics will show that when they're released. I'm a strong advocate for a server password. Sure the password will percolate beyond the dedicated regulars, but it would go a long way towards stopping random players on the multiplayer menu who see a well populated server and want to join, without having any idea of the context of the server, the consequences of their actions, or indeed how to fly (or even turn on) their aircraft on a few occasions. I want this to be an open event, I want new pilots to take part and enjoy the campaign, but at the same time having people take valuable slots with no idea what's going on is a great hindrance. I can certainly attest to this, and I imagine Red guys have come across this problem too. Having players read a briefing on the forums in order to access the password would benefit the environment of the server a great deal, both by weeding out the lazy, and educating those without prior experience. -

Can't change geography unfortunately. Personally I'd be happy to switch start areas, although there's a certain surrealism to Russians invading Russia. -

There is a max ping setting, the 104th guys got it implemented a few rounds ago, I can't remember what it is however. -

:megalol: Sure, and the fact that it would affect both teams means my point is even more relevant. It wouldn't be out of the question to have basically nobody flying on ether team towards the end of the life cycle because they were all used up early on. As for the second point: this is not a training server. I'm always happy to answer questions, and I ask a fair few myself, but this is not the environment to be practising your takeoffs and landings. If this were a closed doors event, I think your idea would work fantastically with a little modification (life numbers of individual aircraft rather than just the entire team) as it would encourage teamwork, but given that literally anyone with an internet connection can (and does) join, I don't think it will work unless the team structure changes drastically. -

You are mistaken. The Eagle can only draw fuel from external tanks when the gear is up, so you are forced to fill the internal tanks to some degree before you can start your engines. The standard Blue method is ~30% internal + 3 bags, which gives about 16,000lb of fuel in total. As for the refuelling sounds, Sweeper has an excellent mod for that. -

Nah I don't think team limits are a good thing, you just restrict people who want to fly. I'm okay with swimming against the current occasionally. -

Shively: Doesn't matter what they were complaining about, the point was about discontent in general. Manzanita: Maybe I should, if I really really wanted to get rid of the Mirage, I'm sure I'd be able to gather enough instances to make my point undoubtable, but I don't think I really need to. You say there are as many people saying there isn't as issue as is one, but I'm not sure I agree, I thibk there are a few people who think the benefits the Mirage brings outweigh the damage model problems, and a few who don't, but I haven't seen anyone deny there is a problem at all, other than you.
