  1. It's because of these two round stuff under its wings. Mig doesn't have it and fly stable :P
  2. Hmmm... just listend to these sounds... It's more like real one, but it's still not what I'm talking about... Just listen to this...
  3. So... I was growing up in the vicinity of airfield where Mig's had flown. Couple days ago I was flyin' with some Mirages online, and when I was still cold and dark in hangar they were taking off... Then I heard this loud "afterburner kick" and I recalled my childhood. That sound was almost the same I heard when Polish Mig's were taking off... And now question: is it possible to implement this sound to Mig's sounds?
  4. I would be gratefull even for Yak-40...
  5. I also got problems. From time to time mine freetrack freezes and I have to close it by program manager because it's not responding at all... Before yesterdays update there was no such problem.
  6. Hi there, I lost system stability for good, and that ends up with Windows reinstal on clean disk. I got DCS 1.5 on separatly disc, (Windows was on another) and now after installing everything from scratch I have an DCS account "zeroed", I managed to install all the mods i previously got, but unfortunately campaign goes from starting point, also logbook is empty. And now question: is there any chance for it to copy files from the "old DCS" to new and make it as it was before?
  7. Very often "fishing boats" were equipped with lots of stuff that collect informations about electronic warfare, so maybe that was the reason ;)
  8. Of course, that both sides not fully known possibilities of the other, but that's what were these flights for, both sides did a little "test" and learn a little bit more about enemy. And that wasn't only Swedes that were flying, Poles also "visited" the Swedes and the Danes. In those days the situation was similar to today's clashes between Turks and Greeks over Aegan Sea, missing only the trigger pull ... :-) In fact, my uncle had propably compared the early structures of viggens not the final version, JA-37, which came into use when the Mig-21 bis had been nearly 10 years of service behind him. My uncle served since the late 70's to the early 90's, so he met on the Baltic Sea rather older versions of mighty Viggens. As a curiosity about the simulated dogfights, I can add that after the fall of communism several Western air units flew to Polish AB's and had test former enemy camp by "what would happen if ..." When a Germany Tornados were in Babie Doły AB (equipped with Mig-21bis) they were convinced that the MiG-21 will acts as a ''boys for beating" Meanwhile, to their astonishment at about a dozen battles that took place Migs in more than 90% were able to secretly approach to trusting in BVR Tornados and make them stout but, fortunately only simulated ...
  9. In cold war era my uncle was serving in on of the Polish northern AFB (Zegrze Pomorskie) he flew also on Mig-21 BIS and as he told there was quite often that Swedens were flying close to Polish borders and polish fighters were took off to the sky to chase away Viggens. He was talkin about swedish planes and pilots with respect but without fear, so I think these 2 constructions (Mig-21bis and Viggen) are likely to compare without any superiority of one side.
  10. Vicx, thanks for reply. It really helped me a lot. And as question, for me num5 for recenter viev works fine.
  11. Hi there, I got the DK2 from yesterday for a couple of days for testing. I downloaded 0.8 runtime version, and something called "virtual desktop". Now I got few question: what resolution You've got in DCS? 1280:800 when using oculus? My comp specs are: AMD FX-8320 X8 3,5GHz (OC to 4.3) ASUS STRIX GTX970 (OC), ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 Fortron ATX HEXA 500W Kingston KHX1866C11D3P1K2/8G SSD KINGSTON SV300S3B7A/120G HDD WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB SATA III 64MB. What kind of DCS settings I can expect with those? Cause when using Freetrack i got everything maxed out and got stable around 40-60fps (depending on model i fly). I use Vsync. When trying to play with those setting with DK2 got some blurry view and quite strong spacial disorientation feeling. When lower setting to a lowest one the feeling gone, but DCS looks terrible :P And one more thing, using DK2 it very often crash (plug out and plug in by itself) is it normal or is it reaction to overstress due high graphic setting? Is there any way to normalize it?
  12. Keep in mind, that NDB's approach is not precission one. From all kinds of approaches (like RNAV, TACAN, ILS, VOR, MLS, etc.) NDB is the less accurate.
  13. One simple thing give me the reason to judge the f86 model as not quite as good as You tryin to tell me. During a dogfight with my friend I was able to give him a burst and left of his stabilizers was ripped off. After that I lost him from a sight and was pretty sure he will fall of the sky. He was manage to maintain control, he was able to return to the dogfight and as he speak "with missing stabilizer aircraft performance was higher than before" Strange, isn't? I know ther's a lot of bugs and things will be better and better, but in this case I suspect rather not so realistic flight model... I didn't bought A-10c or Huey model, so it's hard to tell by myself how they fly. And as a real life pilot and instructor I admire simplicity with realibity at first place according to aircraft fly model. Versality and other stuff are further...
  14. For my point of view if You want to learn somethin -learn from the best. Even when it's harder at starting point. Use no shortcuts. Only then You'll appreciate what you have accomplished. Comparing Mig to Sabre at their limits for me it's better to aware of what can happen when you cross the "red line". If it's simple to recover then You'll can understate other serious issues related to flying technique. You must be aware of closing to arcft maximums. For me DCS with models like Mig-21, Mig-15, Mi-8 and L-39 are the closest thing to real flying. If You looking for a easy fly models then in my opinion try other "sims" like World of Planes or so...
