  1. I am seeing the same problem as described above. No matter if I unassign the mouse Y-axis or invert it, the response is always opposite of what it was before this latest open beta update.
  2. Hi Bignewy, Forcing the application to create a new DCS.openbeta_server in my Saved Games folder seems to work. The splash screen is still blank, but I can connect in the Web GUI and connect over MP. Thanks for the suggestion.
  3. ^I'm seeing the same problem with today's update, DCS Dedicated Server Open Beta (2.5.6.47404). A blank white window where the DCS logo usually gets displayed, and local WEB GUI claims the server is unresponsive. Log file attached in this thread
  4. This evening's update to my DCS open beta server will not launch. All I see is a blank white window where the DCS logo usually gets displayed. My Local WEB GUI claims the server is unresponsive. Skatezilla's DCS Updater Utility was used to run multiple repairs to no effect. I had similar problems after last week's open beta update, but the problem eventually cleared up after a couple restarts. Not with this update, DCS dedicated server appears to be completely broken. Please let me know if I can provide more information (log attached). dcs.txt
  5. Hi All, I am trying to do both on my PC - host a server and fly with my friends, usually no more that 6 people for any given mission. However all my graphs above were made while running this busy mission in Single Player Mode. It sounds like I'm expecting too much from my 4 year old Skylake.
  6. Hi BitMaster, My system is reporting it can see 64GB of RAM. When I run the same mission and monitor RAM Usage with the upper limit of the graph set for 32768 MB, you can clearly see my RAM Usage tops out at 17.5 GB - well under my 64GB limit. I ran the same scenario with DCS graphics options set for LOW preset and was still seeing my Frametimes exceeding 50 ms for much of the time. My framerates went up to about 25-30 for most of the run (instead of 17-25 with HIGH preset settings). I'm starting to wonder if this mission I am using is just too complex, but my friends report much better framerates on lower end systems when connected to my server.
  7. After bumping my graph limit for RAM Usage to 32768 GB, I could see under the same conditions it maxed out at 18.8GB which seems OK. The frametime graph is clearly being saturated at 50ms. If I understand this metric, if 1/Frametime corresponds to max FPS, then my GPU is struggling to get frames rendered in time to get 20 FPS. So that would explain the poor FPS. But what could I adjust to reduce Frametime? If the relationship between FPS and 1/Frametime are equal, then I'd need to get my Frametime down to about 16ms or less to peg my FPS at 60.
  8. Hi BitMaster, Thanks for the suggestions. I setup MSI Afterburner with your suggested metrics and changed my Page File as follows; C:\ NONE (this is my boot and DCS drive) G:\ 32GB (38GB max, this is a secondary SSD) After restarting the PC I started up DSC->Mission Editor->load mission->play mission in SP. Then I looked around and did some flying. To my unaided eye it doesn't look like anything besides RAM Usage, Framerate, and Frametime are being taxed too much or getting saturated. The time spent within the mission itself corresponds to the time where RAM usage is saturated at 16384 Mb. I might not have set the graph bounds to go beyond this level so maybe this is a result of data exceeding the graph limits rather than exceeding my RAM usage limits. I *might* have noticed a slight improvement in subjective smoothness of my FPS after changing my Page File, but if so it was pretty minor. Any comments or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks again. 9. Hi All, I'm looking for suggestions on how to go about troubleshooting and fixing performance issues in DCS, primarily frame rates. When I host a complicated mission such "Border Patrol" my frame rates can get pretty abysmal - depending on my location my FPS can dip to 1 frame every 20 seconds! But generally they average around 20-40 (I have v-sync set for 60). I'm looking for suggestions on how to go about measuring my bottlenecks with Task Manager and/or Resource Monitor or other tools. On my casual glance at the built in Windows tools I don't see any obvious bottlenecks - CPU, RAM, and GPU are all within what seem like reasonable limits but I'm not sure I'm looking at the relevant metrics. What is a good starting point for measuring any bottlenecks and what should I be looking for?
  10. that was it, thanks!
  11. Hi, It's been a while since I've flown the Sabre and I noticed that with open beta 2.5.5.40269 I can no longer view my custom kneeboard PNG files. I have no problem with seeing my custom kneeboards in other a/c with this release. My kneeboard png files are in the correct folder ... Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard\F-86\ Any ideas?
  12. I just flew a practice mission and did just this with the Beluga and Mk-82 snake eyes. Did I misread your statement?
  13. This is how my motherboard manual describes the M.2 slot where I had my S:\ 860 evo installed and how each SSD benchmarks S:\ Samsung 860 evo M.2 (on motherboard slot) Z:\ Samsung 970 pro M.2 (on PCIe adapter)
  14. I ran some fairly unscientific tests with two SSDs on my system. As a reminder, here are my system specs Windows 10 Pro 64-bit i7-6700 3.4 GHz 64 GB 2333 MHz ram GTX 1080 (8GB) boot drive is a Samsung 850 evo S:\ is Samsung 860 evo M.2 on the motherboard (my longstanding DCS install) Z:\ is a Samsung 970 pro in an M.2 PCIe adapter, which holds a copy of my DCS install from the S:\ latest open beta of DCS World (as of March 28 2019). The mission I chose was a simple battle mission that my friends and I play fairly often. All data here was recorded running this same mission in single player mode offline. Time T = 00:00 is when the first sign of the DCS login window appeared The next time of note was the when the Main Menu appears The next time of note was when the "Start" prompt appears after selecting a mission The next time of note was when the "Choose Coalition" prompt appears The last time of note is when the "Welcome to Simple Battle" message appears in the mission Here is the normalized data (T = 00:00 at appearance of login window) and a graph representation of the data What's interesting is the PCIe adapted M.2 970 pro takes longer to launch DCS and be ready in the cockpit than the motherboard mounted 860 evo M.2, despite having about 6x faster sequential read benchmarks compared with the 860 evo. The "reboot" launch times were recorded after a fresh Windows reboot. the "second" launch times were after having run DCS and not rebooting in between launches. the "launch" launch times were after having run DCS several times from both SSDs. These results were very surprising to me. Maybe the 970 pro is better suited for a boot drive or some other line of work. I have not had the time to repeat these tests under the same conditions to get a sense for repeatability, so take these data for what they're worth.
  15. Hello, I've been experimenting with a couple different SSDs in the hope of reducing the load times for DCS, especially in complex missions with the F-14. A little about my system; Windows 10-64, 64GB ram, i7-6700 (3.4GHz), GTX 1080 8GB, and a Samsung 850 evo SSD boot drive. I run DCS off an M.2 Samsung 860 evo which gets similar Crystal benchmarks as the 850 evo (550 Mb/s sequential read/write, 40-120 Mb/sec for random reads and writes). I've also tried running DCS off a Samsung M.2 970 pro connected with a PCIe M.2 adapter, which benchmarks about 6x faster than the 850/860 evos for sequential reads and writes, but about the same for random reads and writes. When I launch DCS, I didn't really notice a 6x reduction in wait times, nor did I ever see the disk reads exceed about 100 Mb/s in task manager. This makes me think that even a regular SSD exceeds the performance that DCS appears to require when launching (or I'm interpreting the results incorrectly). One anecdotal improvement I saw was panning around in external view seemed significantly smoother on the 960 pro than the others, but it could have been the relatively simple mission I had created for testing. A few questions; What are some good guidelines for DCS disk performance? Is faster better or is there a limit to how fast DCS requests data? Is a 970 pro with 3350 MB/s sequential read/write times just plain overkill for DCS. Would I be better served by making the 970 pro my boot drive and running DCS on a partition of same drive? I use Crystal benchmark for SSD speed tests, but I'd be interested in benchmarking real DCS performance if there is a better tool than using the task manager while DCS is running. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  17. Rebuilding the DCS folder in Saved Games seems to have fixed the problem. If I find a smoking gun as I move files back in I'll post an update. Thanks for all the help. (Thanks for the correction on cleanup, that also worked)
  18. None of these commands worked, they all popped up a window "unknown command: clean" ( I am running DCS World open beta from a dedicated M.2 SSD, hence the S:\ ) I'll try your other suggestion of temporarily removing my Saved Games folder and letting DCS create a new one.
  19. After disabling and trashing the module from the module manager, then reinstalling and reactivation, things are better but not completely fixed. I still cannot directly select the F-5E in the ME by clicking on its icon, I must use the unit list which requires some other non-F-5E unit to be listed. From the unit list I can select the F-5E and then change things, and even click on its icon and move it to another location. I no longer get the cannot save mission error, so things are mostly OK now. It's just odd that this is the only module with this strange behavior. Thanks for your help.
  20. I've tried running repairs and this has never resolved my problem. I'll try uninstalling the module and reinstalling. Is there a recommended way to uninstall and reinstall a module, use the module manager?
  21. For quite a few months now I've had problems with the F-5E-3 in the mission editor. Most often the problem is I cannot save a mission when I add an F-5E-3. Steps to re-create the problem: Open the mission editor, create a new mission, add aircraft -> F-5E-3 and place on an airfield. Attempting to save the mission results in the following error. What's worse is I cannot select the F-5E-3 once it is placed. I can select the F-5E-3 using the Unit List, but that is not working if F-5E-3s are the only units in that list. Some work-arounds can be to add another A/C type and then select the F-5E-3 from the unit list, but this is a pain if you need to move the F-5E-3. I'm all up to date with the most current Open Beta and a fresh repair. Any ideas?
  22. Hey ElementLT, I was afraid that was the answer. Maybe this is a good excuse to learn Moose. Thanks for putting this mission together and getting back so soon.
  23. Hi, I just tried adding a Ka-50 and a SA342Minigun to this mission (as clients to make it multiplayer) and I'm having trouble. The Ka-50 and Gazelle only fly around as AI, you can't actually pilot them even when the ME has them set as Client. Is there a simple way to add a few more clients to make this multiplayer COOP?
  24. Thanks very much, this is a lot of fun to fly and great job with the model and liverys.
  25. Thanks, I did play with this and it seems to dole out sufficient punishment when loudness is set between 1 & 2. I also found the SET AIRSHOW SMOKE to be an adequate signal to others that someone "peed in the pool".
