  1. Piston85 ..I just discovered almost the exact same thing (about Nevada and in some scenarios with Caucaus) and I was going to post it. MSAAx2 in game and fxaa on in cp is what I have settled on for that exact reason and I am also seeing the same performance results. Incredible boost. I am super OK with a 120 fps average! Really strange about the screenshots. They appear to show no AA but in game it is obviously working. Very weird! Anyway, thanks you so much for the suggestion! Cheers :)
  2. I can't really explain my findings but.... Piston85 is 100% right. (In an instant action repeated scenario) With in-game MSAAx4, I am getting 75-85 fps average and visually it is very good on my 2560x1440 screen. With no in-game MSAA, but FXAA turned on in the Nvidia CP, I am getting 140-165 fps average and visually it is pretty good. It is a slight step under in-game msaax4, there is a little bit of staircasing from certain angles but for the most part it is comparable. The performance increase though is staggering!!! (I also took a screenshot from both scenarios but as Piston85 said, it does not represent what I am seeing in game, and I also don't know why, hence not posting pics, very strange!) ...and yes fxaa is active btw- this is with all setting maxed except visibility to high rather than extreme. Anyway, I may just stick with this fxaa as the performance boost vs the slight visual drop seems to be well worth it. I have never seen DCS pegged at 165 fps in my life! :)
  3. Hi there 2.5 looks and runs fantastic. I am very impressed! Thank you ED. One thing- there are circular patterns in the ocean and lakes that are very noticeable. They look like individual pond ripples moving out from a center point that has some white spray and span the entire visible area of the body of water. SEE PIC.
  4. With this latest build 1.5.7, turning terrain shadows to "off" does NOT turn terrain shadows "off".....?? Deleting the "saved game" folder and letting it rebuild has no effect. Ground shadows are ever present. 1.5.7 is very, very stuttery and my cards are only running at about 35%. 2.1 NTTR is smooth and the cards are running at over 85%. I'm guessing we should just be waiting on the new caucaus map, which is totally ok if it will be running like 2.1 NTTR. Thx
  5. All fixed now. Also... bought it and love it! Cheers :)
  6. Same issue. I started a thread down in the customer support/ payment section!? Also submitted a trouble ticket with the same question. Not sure what is going on? :(
  7. Hi there In the e-shop, it currently says that the Huey is NOT AVAILABLE. I wanted to purchase it during this weekends sale (Sep 16). Any idea what going on? Thanks
  8. Just jumped in to say that the newest 1.5.6 build is great. No more terrain stuttering for this guy!! Bravo! Good job ED and thank you :)
  9. This is a very long performance related rant. I apologize in advance. For the record this is the best current flight sim by a long margin. I completely understand that it is in an alpha/beta state and will improve with time. I love this sim so much and want it work well so badly! I have purchased many modules with the most recent being the F-86 and I want to purchase many more ....but the current performance woes are holding me back... and giving me way more grey hair!! My system specs are in my sig. I play at 2560x1440 on a 60hz monitor. Always have vsync on. Current nvidia drivers. No trackir or vr. DCS (non steam) is installed on a fresh 500gb samsung ssd and the user/saved games folders are on my another samsung ssd that has my os (windows 10) installed on it. Graphics settings are between medium and high. I first downloaded the free DCS World a long time ago. Fell in love right away. My SLI worked like a charm (using the nvidia sli profile) and I had both cards pumping away at around 80% giving me smooth locked 60 fps under all scenarios at basically max settings. I bought my first module "flaming cliffs 3". Life was good! Then the updates began. First thing to go was SLI. The "DCS blackshark" nvidia sli profile was rendered dead. I used Nvidia inspector to completely get rid of it and start a fresh blank profile to make sure only one card was running. OK, no problem. I lowered a few settings and I was able to get one of my 980's running it pretty well. Constant 60fps and smooth for the most part. I went ahead and bought a few more modules. Blackshark 2 and the Mirage 2000. It all worked well. Life was pretty good. Then out comes Nevada. A dream come true. I live in Canada and have spent much time in Nevada and around Nellis AFB and the surrounding areas. I'm also obsessed with fighter planes, so this was a no brainer! Bought it right away. The textures were crisp and clear. The performance was fantastic. A little shakey right over downtown Vegas but otherwise, really good. Life was still really good. Then comes the latest batch of updates (the past 2-3 for both 1.5 and 2.0) With 2.0.4. and 2.0.5. the terrain textures have become blurry and low resolution and the dreaded "stuttering" is ever present!! No matter the adjustments made in game graphics settings or with nvidia cp or inspector, the performance has taken a dive. With 1.5.6. the dreaded "stuttering" is even worse than in Nevada. No matter what adjustments I make, the stuttering continues. I swear I am seeing stuttering in my dreams. FPS never really seems to be a big issue in either version. It is mainly the "stuttering". I have been testing this like crazy in every possible configuration and I can't honestly say if it's a DCS udpate, a Windows 10 update or an Nvidia update that has caused these problems. I just know that it used to work great and now it doesn't. Obviously I would love to have SLI back and I am still hoping that will become a reality again. But in the mean time, 1 card was doing the trick and now it totally isn't. I have tried adjusting terrain shadows from flat to default to off. There doesn't seem to be a corresponding change in game regardless. Very weird. I have tried raising and lowering both visibility and preload radius. Makes no difference! (other than lowering fps somewhat when maxed). I have tried changing trees/clutter etc. No effect on terrain stuttering. I have changed just about everything and the only thing I see is that overall fps will drop a bit with settings that are really high. Otherwise nothing seems to effect the stuttering. The one thing I can't help but notice are the odd looking trees and their ever present shadows. No matter what I choose as far as settings (even shadows off) they are still present. They even flicker sometimes. My performance seems the worst when I am near them. Weird. Anyway life sorta sucks right now! Rant over! ps- I am optimistic. If you read all of this, then you are as obsessed with DCS as I am! lol Cheers :)
  10. Keyboard has completely stopped working in both 1.5 alpha and 2.0 beta all of a sudden. I use a Logitech Extreme 3d pro, a Logitech G710+ keyboard and a Logitech G602 mouse. Only the keyboard has stopped functioning. Both the mouse and the joystick are fine. Only change has been a Windows 10 update that was applied last night after my last gaming session. No other changes. I have searched the forums and the internet. The only similar (but outdated) problem that I could find provided a solution of "deleting the keyboard folder" in the saved games folder. I did that and even went a step further and deleted both (1.5 & 2.0) saved games folders completely. This did not help. No inputs on my keyboard work. Not even ESC to pause or end the game. I have to "task manager" out to return to desktop. The only thing on the keyboard that functions is my volume control. I can also hit "alt + enter" at the main menu window to go full screen. As soon as the game is up and running, the keyboard is dead! Help! Thanks Eric :) FIXED- Had something to do with the latest Windows 10 update as it related to my Xbox one controller that was also plugged in to one of my usb's. As soon as I disconnected that controller....problem solved. Hope this helps anyone else with a similar configuration. Cheers :)
  11. Thanks Maverick! I added my request to the forum! Cheers :) ....and fingers crossed!!
  12. I do have only a 60hz monitor and on top of that I always run vsync so its locked at 60 anyway. I only disable it to test performance, etc. My concern is more about overhead and overall performance. I like to make videos with max settings, etc, and at my resolution or even for future vr requirements, I'll take all the overhead I can get. Also, and I promise, not too sound like a gpu snob or anything but I saved up a lot to buy two 980's and I did it so that I never have to see a stutter ...ever!! haha! And so far, when an official SLI profile is available (like with black shark or any other games) these cards have provided me with all the performance I could ask for. With just one card running and seeing the fps creep ever closer to 60, I start to get really edgy! That's only 1 or 2 on screen explosions away from a stutter!! lol Anyway, here's hoping that ED and Nvidia will come out with an official profile soon. Given the awesome performance with 1 card, I can only see an upside if and when that happens! Thanx :)
  13. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I got the 2 cards running using your info, unfortunately, the SLI profile seems to provide worse performance than the single gtx980. - With one card going I am getting an average of 125fps with dips to 85 during big action. The one card is running at over 90% on average. - With 2 cards running (using the profile you have shown) I am getting around 120fps with dips below 80fps and the really bad flickering clouds. I can remove the cloud flickering by enabling mirrors "m" but then the fps drops even lower to 80fps as a high and 60fps during big action. Also, it seems the 2 cards are running at about 40% each. Thanks for trying to help though! Cheers :)
  14. How did you do that? I can't seem to do it. I have an sli profile in inspector for black shark but I cannot seem to link it to the beta. The reason seems to be that the .exe has the same name for both "dcs.exe". How did you get around that? I can't even bring up the beta in the nvidia cp for the same reason! Thanks :)
  15. Glad I found this thread. I was just trying to figure this out myself tonight. It seemed to work ok for 1 out of every 5 flights or so. Mostly, crash on the runway, crash after takeoff, or the replay track just cuts off after less than a minute. So strange. Thanks for the informative post Weltensegler! Cheers :)
  16. Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to make a difference for me. I have tried that a few times and still only 1 card is working no matter what. See graph below. That is after hitting "alt-enter" while in game. btw- as a side note, I notice that the new opening screen (gui) is maxing out the 1 card at 100%, a bit strange is all.
  17. I'm new to this forum and pretty new to the DCS world. I've been flight simming for over 20 years, but other than the "tacpac" in fsx, this is my first combat flight sim. I absolutely love it! The only issue that I'm having at the moment is SLI. It works excellent in the older DCS Blackshark, but not so much in the new 1.5 beta. I understand this is a beta, so hopefully a proper sli profile or fix is forthcoming. In the meantime, I can usually get just about anything working with SLI using Nvidia Inspector. Unfortunatelly, no such luck with 1.5. As the name is the same "dcs.exe", I'm not able to add the new build to the existing Blackshark profile in Inspector. I also cannot add 1.5 to the Nvidia control panel for the same reason. I have tried all of the suggestions in this thread, but so far "no joy". I simply can't get the second card to play along. Performance on a single card (gtx980) is not too bad and should be ok in the meantime, but if anyone has any new suggestions or workarounds, I'm all ears! At 2560x1440 I'm getting a bit of stuttering of the ground textures at very low level. With SLI cranking in the previous version, that would never occur. I truly love the new engine, but I love high resolution, 60 fps locked, vsync and ultra smooth gameplay even more!! My specs are in my sig. I look forward to posting some more here and getting alot more involved in this awesome sim! Cheers Eric :)
