  1. There is one in service already, the A330 MRTT It actually won the USAF competition for their next tanker (as the KC-45) but Boeing's lawyers got on the case and had the decision overturned.
  2. The needle points directly to the beacon. If you understand how a western ADF works, it's not a problem to read the ARC/RSBN needle. :) http://www.pyrochta.ch/flash/start_adf.htm There's a mod with instruments displaying feet&knots, you can find it in the mod forum. An ILS mod with tuneable freqs is not likely to happen, Leatherneck have a lot on their plate.
  3. Edit: sounds like I'm making a complaint, didn't mean it that way, was just an observation. Happy with the module! (1.5.2) for me and 3 other people I know who own M2000, it really, really wants to swerve when taking off, no external load/full load, in multiple missions, some with 0 wind. Experimenting with the NWS (using it up to 30 kts/using it more than that/not using it at all) makes some difference, but not a huge difference. In comparison, a MiG-21 or -15 in comparison is much more stable on take-off. Considering the FBW M2000 is much more stable in-flight than the MiGs, it feels strange that it should be so unstable on take-off.
  4. I agree. For realistic missions, this is a big deal.
  5. It was more of an anti-bomber weapon. The warhead was something like twice as heavy as the Sidewinder's.
  6. If you like to dogfight without flares or chaff, sure. Otherwise it's 5 heaters and a pod. AJ-37 easily had enough power to handle duo/triple pylons for Mavericks and Sidewinders. Sadly for DCS airquake, it didn't get them. Now in an environment with heavy enemy SAM/AAA (not these soft DCS A-10C missions without long-range SAM or enemy fighters...), 4 Mavericks would be more than enough for a quick strike before you have to run away.
  7. IIRC the BMS F-16 also needs manual trimming for asymmetrical loads, so I guess was a limitation of FBW systems at the time (and now?) Try loading a fuel tank under one wing and bombs under the other :joystick:
  8. I agree there should be a (significant) difference, I thought my original post was clear on that. We just wanted hear if the rest of you guys thought the difference should be this significant, or somewhat less significant. It's cool to hear everyone's input.
  9. German DCS pilots forgot about AS34 Kormoran? :smartass:
  10. We were hoping to hear the opinion of other pilots who have fought in 1.5 vs the MiG-21, but I guess they aren't reading the MiG-21 forum.
  11. Like I said, not looking to prove anything and I also think the MiG-21 should be harder to spot. We'd like to know what other pilots think about this matter, if they have fought in VWR against the MiG-21 in 1.5. But I guess a lot of pilots are still waiting for stability patches or 2.0.
  12. I'm not out to prove anything (like I said, the MiG-21 should be harder to spot), I'm just asking what other people think. We set up an AI formation with MiG-21, 29, Su-25, F-15, 16 while we flew around it, and I thought about taking screenshots. The problem is, it's much easier to spot the MiG-21 while it's flying in a straight line next to a F-15, so these screenshots are not very useful. It's better to use a "real" scenario. Like, you and a friend agree to meet over Kutaisi city at roughly X altitude and then try to find eachother with Mk I eyeball. It's fine to use F10 map or RWR so you know roughly where to look. Fly against F-15 for 30 minutes and then against MiG-21 for 30 minutes, and see what you think. The big difference is when you try to spot them against the ground. I thought of doing this, but I think you lose the "dynamic" parts of a dogfight, like scanning for moving objects while you're maneuvering. And I think this makes a difference in our discussion. Better to test it in a "real" scenario! :) P.S. yes we had model visibility set to enlarged.
  13. Hi all, Been doing a lot of dogfighting in 1.5 with friends, flying MiG-21 against 21 or FC3 fighters. The MiG-21 is the smallest of these planes so it should of course be harder to see. But to me and my friends, there is a huge difference in how easy it is to spot a F-15C, (especially against the ground) compared to a MiG-21 or F-16C. Yes, a F-15C is a much larger aircraft, but the difference in spotting seems too big to us. What do other people think?
