Do I understand correctly that for Quest 3 users for DCS that you don't need the OpenXR toolkit? Am I good to go with just the Occulus Debug tool?

Is there a way of limit the update size, it's takes too long
Gman109 replied to jonfog's topic in Installation Problems
I have 9TB total of SSD space now in my new PC, I just have one dedicated drive for DCS as it's the most important game/program for me. 4 m.2 slots, 1 TB C drive, one 4TB, and 2 2TB. I still probably should have bought another 4 for DCS as eventually it'll expand past the 2TB size, but at that point I'll just buy another 4TB and swap DCS onto it. For the first time in...forever, I'm finding that I can install various games that I regularly play at will, without having to husband my space. -

Hah, funny you said that, I almost grabbed a 4tb instead of the 2. I'm not complaining about the size of the program, I just wasn't sure if I had done something incorrect or hadn't cleaned up things properly. I just reinstalled DCS on my new system instead of migrating the old HD from my older system. Not sure if I "lost" install numbers, but honestly, even if I'm down to 8/10 left, I'll probably never run out in my lifetime. -

Heh, so I came to the forums to ask if my 1.1 TB install was typical, as I'd just bought a dedicated 1tb drive for DCS to find out that it was too small, which meant buying a 2tb drive. Wow, asked and answered. I don't even own the trainer modules, and it's a brand new install on a new PC. -
Love and agree with everything I'm reading here. Great post OP! Here's my 2 cents. Avoiding the 'situation" specifics at least.... ED would be wise to announce a new "F15EX" model at some point in the near future should the "situation" not move towards resolution. Ed is already doing an F15C model. They could cut previous F15E customers a "deal" on it sales wise. IMO this could/would satisfy a great many players who love all the A2G stuff with the Strike Eagle being discussed and mentioned here, while supplementing/replacing the F15E module. And so forth. I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this, or post something about it here, I just don't have the time or inclination to read through all the forums, or use the incredibly frustrating search function to check.

Good arguments here regarding the Nvidia vs AMD choice - I've had 4080S and 4090 in both 13900k/14900k systems as well as an "all AMD" build I put together with the 7800X3D/7900XTX, and for DCS especially in VR, Nvidia is the CLEAR choice, it's not even close really, regardless of the CPU. That said, the cost of the AMD card sometimes drops here in Canada during sales/whatever at the retailers up here. so I understand the $ can be a factor. I'd still always recommend going with Nvidia, VR or otherwise.

Best advice for the OP is to WAIT - as others have said. The 7800X3D absolutely trounces the newest/fastest new Intel CPU in gaming tests according to all the Youtube channels that have tested them head to head in the last couple weeks - so the new 9800X3D will be even faster/better, and waiting a short bit, just another couple months should do the trick, should make them both available and a bit cheaper. Same with GPUs, no sense picking up a 4080/Super right now with the new 50xx series coming out for RTX Nvidia very, very shortly.

I dislike this situation - and IMO it takes both sides to create something like this, but after reading a lot of the history of this team...past behavior is indicative of future behavior in the vast majority of cases. I respect ED, I used to deal with Carl Norman frequently back in the early Flankde days, right around when Wags come aboard. Such a marvelous thing they've created, RAZBAM has done some great things too, I mean yeah, the Harrier et al aren't finished, but anyone can admit that making a VSTOVL aircraft work in an sim they way our Harrier does is bonkers. I'm standing pat with my purchases from ED, and I'd rather support another team by purchasing their work, as opposed to trading the F15E for it and then them not getting full compensation. I also don't want to harm ED by asking them to fork out cash back to me, especially since it's only been 2 months, and I have hope that the F15E and others will continue to be updating, someway, somehow. So. Would Razbam and ED entertain an outside investor to become involved in this specific situation?

I said the same back on page 32 or so, which was just a day or two ago now, heh. I don't think anyone is being hot-headed here really either, if that were the case the mod team wouldn't have let this continue on.

Ah, GG me then. So you're saying that it'll pull full 6 G now, air or ground launched? I'm not at home atm to try it myself.
-
Those of us who focus on dueling and 1v1 guns type of flying, certainly don't consider the M2000 being limited to air launch and/or 6g limits to be a minor inconvenience. It's totally useless now. If refunds are being offered for the SE, they sure better be for the M2000 as well in this state if it isn't fixed next patch. I spent $200 USD on the Kiowa, Chinook, and a couple of the maps I hadn't grabbed yet, just a couple days ago. I don't want to stop spending $ with DCS, or to look for refunds. I just want things to not go backwards, which is exactly what is happening with the M2000. If a message needs to be sent about how unsatisfactory the situation is, $ is the way to do it (refund).

Wow, away for a few days and 15 new pages to read through. One thing I want to say - NineLine, THANK YOU for allowing this thread to stay open. You cost me $20 as I'd bet it'd be closed before it hit 20 pages, but it's worth it. I for one appreciate you letting this thread continue, as it's very important IMO. So thanks.

+++1 here too. Heatblur, you guys never fail to impress. The F14 was such a great module right from the day it was released in EA. F4 now as well. Looking forward to every module/contribution Heatblur makes to this DCS community. Well done guys.

It's been 2 weeks since Razbam's "announcement". Mods are still saying essentially to stop posting, asking questions, or discussing Razbam's "strike". How long exactly are customers supposed to wait before getting an update on what's happening? If both sides haven't been able to "work things out" in 2 weeks, that doesn't exactly bode well for a rapid happy outcome IMO. So, is it too much to ask to tell us where things are at so we can all get back to buying new EA products with confidence? This is directed at Razbam, not ED, as Razbam were the ones that went public with this dispute, and the least they can do is not go comms silent after doing so. It's not fair to their customers.

Great info, thanks so much all. Can you mess about then and get the FC3 F15C's MFDs to work? I'm assuming no go on the UFC and middle/center panels of the MiP... Can you get the various Su27 variants to work on the MFDs too then, even just "more or less"? Looking more favorable for buying the MiP TopGun. I have SO much Hotas, seriously, 40+ throttles and sticks going back to the CH days of the 90s, but I've never messed with a setup like the MiP, always just monitor(s) or VR, never any supplemental displays, MFDs, or control panels. Other than the Virpil boxes, I have 2 of those, but they are mounted on Monster mounts/plates beside my throttles. Be so nice to build a semi-custom "cockpit" on my large gaming table with the MiP, I just want to ensure it's value is there as I have all the modules, and plan on using lots of them in PVP online now that I'm healthy enough to begin simming again.
