  1. Hey TB - have you tried the BRM yet? I had another successful series of sorties with the BRM in multiplayer. Appreciate all the hard work Deka has done to continue to develop the platform. Hope you are having fun and spending less time whining about how you cant employ the weapon! TJ
  2. 3 sorties, 69 kills on the BF PG multiplayer server boys. JF17 is quite the lethal weapon. TJ
  3. 18 for 19 on a run to Qeshim boys - BRM is DANGEROUS! 33 total kills (although one SFW was for a defender group of 10 combat troops.) TJ
  4. Agreed whole heartedly. Just like the Gazelle's mistral that was nerfed and the RB75of the Viggen when air to air targeted would never run out of energy and chase its target for a few miles (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4095681). It was comical. ED wants a product that represents at least some resemblance of the truth. I have tacviews of the SD-10 when it was first released flying on for 50+ miles at mach 2. Its simply not possible, so ED ran a CFD model of what is known of the missile and the missile was effectively 'nerf'd.' This is the joys of Early Access. Someone can run a CFD on the missile and prove that it shouldnt behave like that, well then it gets nerf'd. No one wants another Gazelle mistral missile or "terminator" RB75 or magic INS Phoenix. We are trying to achieve a level of simulation here. TJ
  5. So stop talking about it - clearly you have an agenda you are trying to push. Push it somewhere else. I dunno brother - pulling up at max G in A2G mode is pretty awesome. Maybe you should try it and stop keyboard warmongering? Have you yet to even fly the JF17 since you've listed it as "ABANDONED"? I have helped further the development of this weapon. What you choose to believe is up to you. They reverted their compromise. They wanted a laser homing rocket that spun and DCS didnt offer it. So they went one direction while they waited for ED to build it. You chose to take the fight a different direction. Question for you - what other work was put off, delayed or neglected because you wanted what you wanted and moaned loud enough for it to happen? Do you think like that? You realize this is a small shop with a small # of programmers who cant move the mountain. Maybe your expectations need to be tempered with the human side of the equation? Or can you think that far out? Enjoy your keyboard warmongering. TJ is OUT!
  6. If you took this as a petty and off topic fight, I think you need to examine your attitude. This wasnt a fight, I was genuinely curious if you could do it. The way in which you approached your answer said more to me (and Deka) about you than anything else. Clearly you are negative, frustrated and lashing out at something beyond the BRM. I am very sorry you saw it this way. I dont honestly think the F-16 can do it. Had you looked at the track, acmi or video that I provided and have seen how spread out the map is, and how terrible CBU modelling currently is in DCS, you'd probably have come to the same conclusion I did. But hey, we have characters on a deck that move now. Like you, I was frustrated with the BRM. But I learned, improvised and adapted to how they currently work. Im still not happy with them, but I can approach Uboats or Foxwxl and have a constructive conversation with them, which in turn lead to them finding two issues (one with point track on some DCS world units and the inaccuracy of the BRM.) A positive attitude promotes positive results. Try it some time and see if you get a better response. TJ
  7. Tell you what, if you are interested in proving me wrong Ill provide the same MIZ that I used here and you provide the track of you doing it better with a CBU87. I dont think you can currently as we dont have another capable multirole fighter in DCS. But I love to be proven wrong, so are you up to the challenge? I feel your pain here, but that is literally why its called Early Access. In this period, we tune airplanes based upon SME feedback from the wild which leads to changes in how the airplane performs overall. I agree 100% with your frustration (I even ranted about it in this thread!), but this is the peril of buying an Early Access product. Other products have faced this same problem: Magic radar in the F16 Magic INS in the Phoenix Magic mavericks on the Viggen that could shoot down an airplane and would never run out of energy (this one has been fixed - or nerf'd depending on your stance.) Magic mistral missle that never ran out of energy and just blew up (fixed - or nerf'd) Magic helo dynamics of the Gazelle The BRMs are usable in their current state, and Im also happy that Deka is making some changes to improve them even more. Watch my track, acmi or video and see how I do it. Maybe you can find some more enjoyment in this model by adapting your techniques to mine. The plane is a helluva lot of fun! TJ
  8. I have a mission I call "attack against Khasab" - its a full base modeled off BlueFlag PG (a semi-popular multiplayer server.) I start with 2 LD10s, 2 SFWs and 19 BRMs. I scored 17 of 19 hits with the BRM for a total of 28 kills. Name another airframe that can do an hour long sortie and score 28 kills and still have fuel to return home across the channel for dinner? The BRMs still behave a bit erratically, there is no question about that. But it is much more stable this release. Now we hope it stays this way or improves! Track and ACMI are here - I am encoding the hour long sortie now and will upload it here too if you want to watch to see how I did it (and hear my color commentary!) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MxFte-pIccBi6MunnC2o5zotO3vWJh1f?usp=sharing TJ EDIT: Vid uploaded, start around 24m 50s for BRM employment
  9. Maybe because I tried it after the release? If you've been around dcs for any period of time you'll know many times we never see patch notes. TJ Sent from my SM-N970U using Tapatalk
  10. You updated to the latest open beta, including the hotfix that came out on Friday, right? I'll post my acmi and track later tonight. The missiles fly within the beam now with very little craziness. TJ Sent from my SM-N970U using Tapatalk
  11. Thank you for the fixes with this patch! Its much more effective!!! TJ Sent from my SM-N970U using Tapatalk
  12. Stop using point track. Use area track instead. Try not to move laterally, only pull up to stay out of engagement. Fire at longer distances and pull up hard very early. I'm now almost 100 percent on any target I shoot at. TJ Sent from my SM-N970U using Tapatalk
  13. Chucks guide has great details on all three modes - do a google search for it! Page 277 starts the discussion! TJ
  14. Hey team! I have an OHP sitting off the coast of Dibba (east side of PG). Ive tried LOS, COO and DIR, and I cant get the weapons to hit the target. In DIR mode, even though set to sea skimming (low) mode and no popup, the weapons stay around 160 feet and get engaged by the OHP SM2 air defenses and shot down. In COO mode, the weapons will sit at 40ish feet and avoid the SM2s, but then do not swerve as they get close to the OHP and the OHP guns shoot them down. Same happens for LOS (40ish feet, no swerve, get shot down by OHP guns.) Am I doing something wrong that is preventing them from hitting the OHP? In DIR mode, I use the SEA1 radar to mark a SPI and fire at it. In COO mode, I set a TP (30) to turn the weapon into the ship. In LOS I just get about 30 miles away and fire. All missiles were fired in pairs. Appreciate any feedback! TJ
  15. PS- 100% isnt accurate. I re-ran my entire attack on Khasab scenario. I managed a 87% success rate... Sometimes I was being dumb and getting lazy. Sometimes I got wild misses for unknown reasons. But I think if you follow the above advice, you'll do much better with the BRM until the fixes can be put in for the guidance and profile. TJ
  16. Mate- this is the key it appears. Im now hitting 100% even doing a hard 5.6g pullup evasive maneuver upon launch. I now use area mode right in front of the target (in front as defined by my ingress point, not the front of the vehicle) and I can hit 100%. (Or the patch fixed the majority of the issue - due to some camping this week I was unable to retest the area mode pointing in front of the vehicle until after the patch came out.) Attached ACMI of the success in the event in helps someone else. First target (Vulkan) was a known good 100% success target. I use it as a control after each patch to make sure that still works. 2nd and 3rd targets are the avenger and chapparal that would always miss in Point track mode. Also of note, I no longer use point track mode at all. 5.6gPullUp100PercentSuccess.zip Good luck folks! TJ
  17. See attached tracks.zip which includes a track and a acmi of a quick engagement against an avenger using nothing but area mode (point track mode was never entered.) BRM misses long of the target when it enters terminal phase. Track shows the area mode and aiming at the middle of the vehicle. I limited G pull up to 4.4gs - if I attack a vulkan I can pull up 5.5gs no issue. Distance was long on firing (4.7 miles), but this would hit a vulkan no issue from this range, so i would expect it to hit an avenger the same. I can repeat this and the BRM misses in the exact same spot. I hope this helps and if you'd like to talk about it I am available via PM. TJ Tracks.zip
  18. still playing with it a bit - i almost wonder if its a bug that even though you move the TDC (so we drop out of point mode) if the track mode is still active even though WMD says Area and the laser is still pointing at the larger target model even though Ive manually aimed it at the truck tire... The rockets miss in the same spot, so it kinda feels that way. However, if I dont press target lock on the target (so it never goes into point mode) and then drag the cursor to the target, I seem to be having better results. Still doing some more testing, will post more findings soon TJ
  19. Even in area mode i still cant seem to get the rocket to hit :( TJ
  20. Thank you! Really dumb follow up question - Ive searched both the quickguide that is the doc folder as well as Chucks Guide and cant find an answer. How do you change the TGP to Area track after its already designated in point track? TJ
  21. Attached ACMI- your comment around pulling up at the launch phase solved the majority of my issues on certain types of ground units, and I wonder if there is a 'bug' around the type of unit you are lasing? The proof? I pulled up at 5.6 and 5.3gs while attacking a vulcan (twice, in the ACMI), hit both no issue. The key was to pull up hard and fast in the early stage. If you wait, you will miss. Now, repeat the same against the MIM-72 Chaparral, and you'll miss (3rd attack run in the ACMI.) It took three attempts to score a hit on the first MIM-72 Chaparral (I dont count one of my 4 attempts as I came in and fired too close, so the missile was in terminal phase during my pullup), and then 2 attempts on the second. All employing the same, pull up hard technique early. The key really seems to be fire right around 4.8 miles, dont wait too long at all, and then pull up hard and get the aircraft stable quickly. TJ Tacview-20200526-220309-DCS-BF PG.zip.acmi.zip
  22. Thank you - you are very low and slow and fire very close and maintain exact same telemetry as when you fire. This isnt really something you'd ever do in combat, but ill give it a try. TJ
  23. I have tried and tried and tried to reproduce this without any success at all. In some of your pull ups, you are pushing 3.5g as recorded by tacview, and you still hit 100 percent of the targets. You are firing considerably farther than I am (your last pass you recorded 3.0g up and fired at 5.2 miles) and still hit the target. If I seem to pull more than 2.2gs, I'll miss, almost guaranteed, no matter the range or speed (Ive even tried .98 mach in burner!) Someone pointed out that target type matters - i wonder if I replace my targets with humvees if I will see similar success. Another person indicated they were having 100 percent success if they could F6 and go to the missile view... Are you doing that (I disable it, as the server I play on doesnt allow it.) TJ
  24. Post your tacview (ACMI) or track please TJ
