Now I hardly get shot down by Sabre except for the occasional sucker punch.... Its air combat, it happens LOL

Hi all, Here we go again. Another Module another mind twist. These Evil Men at Razbam have done a fantastic job. They did not give us the fish.... they are teaching us how to fish... We are going to learn this module nice and easy. The missions in 1.5 are superb. Get going in Guns, guns, guns. Talk about turn and burn! I don't know what happened in 2.0. The missions ar e limited but you can make some easy ones. Learning the radar is crazy. It does this but then it does not.... Its all in French Ahhhrrrg!.. Thank GOD! there is a good manual witch your truly will spend all week reading and making notes. The controls are dumbed down (Because its BETA) so use the simple keys. i.e. Gear up/down not Gear Up and Gear Down. There will come a time when we know this fighter well. Its not a complex machine. It just works! For now lets congratulate the team and let them enjoy the holidays. In the meantime, its T&B time!

Felix, you have a good gripe and I like how you word it. First off, I like Matt Wagner's video on how to start and a general intro. I think I watched it about six times now. I hate to say this but we all need to RTFM... Read the Flipping Manual. I will do that this week. Over time there will be You Tube videos but don't rely on them. Read and you will know the real deal. These are not bugs. The simple keys work. i.e. just program gear up/down to your joy instead of Gear Up and Gear Down. I cant figure out the flaps.... Its Beta.... But I get kick a$$ frame rates...

Wow, Wow, Wow.... All I can say about the flight model, the unobstructed vis from the pit and the beautiful cockpit. The blur effect on the HUD is outstanding. The missions in 1.5 are great. Felicidades!!!! (Congratulations) to all the team! Its party time.

A side benefit from this training came to light last night. Flying Bos 190 and 109 is much easier now. I could not get off the ground or land a few weeks ago. Now, the are not easy but easier than DCS.

My Fellow Pilots, Unless you never read anything about the 109 you know this is one tough bird to handle on the ground as well as takeoff and landing. Takeoffs are more than a challenge. I have been in flight sims for 15 years and I must confess that my buttocks has been kicked by the 109 and 190. What a shock. However, I decided to grit my teeth and tough it out. After a week (Last week don't count;)) of flips, spins and frustration I have finally got a grip on this animal. I viewed a few online videos too. Some were good and some I did not agree with. All I can say is you really got to get a feel of her and do what works for you. In the last few days I found a slow steady takeoff with flaps(I know, the horror!) is what gets my messer going. Raising the seat helped a lot. A gentle landing and I do mean gentle and slow but , DONT STALL. That is what gets me back down. Anyway, I am here to encourage those who are struggling. Believe in yourself and give it a chance. This has really been worth it! Good Day All Maico

keefyboy, This is my day! I've been waiting for a loooong time to fly the '21 in a Vietnam scenario. Thank You for these. I was hoping for one... to get four was simply amazing. I finally got them to work and I'm back in the 'Nam! Great Work Maico

Fellas, I have been asking for these since the release! Thank You Keefy! Im just pulling my hair out on how to activate them in game. I know how to pick a skin in mission builder. I tried adding the quotes and numbers to the files within the files in the skin folders. Where have I gone wrong? Thanks all

How ED can make a disgusting amount of money My fellow pilots, While I look at the list of recent aircraft that ED has released I cant help but to be in awe. We have here a wonderful simulation that will be around for years to come. Most recently the development of the Mig-15 vs F-86 has been a real treat for us history buffs. These aircraft are wonderful but encompass a very small time in history. Not to take anything away from these great historic aircraft. I fly the heck out of both the '15 and '86 Enter Mig-21. The Fishbed encompasses an era from the early sixties to the...well, the 21 is still relevant today. What a wonderful aircraft and my oh my, who are these Leathernecks and where in the Hell did they come from? Their contributions to DCS lately are just the wake up call a lot of us users needed to get us back in the DCS arena. The '21 will have us covered for Vietnam, the Middle East and more recent conflicts. No, it is not an F or PF or even a PFM but it will do with a little paint. :smilewink: So this got me to thinking the addition of a Mig-17 and Mig-19 would fill the gap for all the early sixties requirements. I am 100% crazy about the new '15 and '21. I cant imagine anyone who is serious about DCS not wanting to pay for a '17. It was after all the ultimate development of that airframe. It was the "Hawker Hurricane" of North Vietnam. It bore the brunt of that air conflict. It also saw extensive action in the Middle East. If we only had a Desert Map.... OH Wait! NTTR is coming soon. How cool would a desert Mig-17 look against that background? Same goes for the Farmer. There is no doubt that the Farmer would be a big seller. Its a great aircraft in its day and even later. I think an Eagle driver would still have to respect it as well as the '21. Apologies for the long ramblings and long post. I know there are some very interesting models in the works. I for one cant wait to see the Tomcat and the Mirage. Maybe I am just stating the obvious but I think these are the most obvious additions that would make ED customers run home from work to download new aircraft. Good Day!

Is it just me or is a VPAF skin sorely missing? Surely the Bis vs Phantom is going to be a favorite among the old heads.

There is no key for the uncage lever or the rocket/guns/bombs rotary. I would hope they are on the top of the list for the patch. But other than that, its a great sim.

Can someone contribute something about how to Have Fun in this sim. I think it would be better than "My curve is better than your straight line". We are Way off topic here. Maico

Ok, I know its coming. "How do I change the icons?" First MAKE A BACKUP of the labels lua file in DCS/Config/View/labels.lua . Now read this http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3659138/1/How_do_I_edit_icons_to_make_th.html and pay attention to Grim_Death's advice. Makes the sim so much better. Maico

FUN FLASH! I changed my icons to +. They are tiny dots. A lot more immersive without all the extra text. Ok back to topic. I have a problem with centering my Pedals. The centering is weak. The result is that I fly with the ball off center. To avoid this, I have a dead zone on my pedals. I cant recommend you have one because everyone's equipment and flying style is different. I use the joy on this sim with a very light touch and the curves keep me from stalling constantly. (X-52Pro) Maybe when I get used to the Sabre I may reduce the curves so I can have finer control. But again, that is what works for me. Bottom line. Do what Is best for YOU. Don't be afraid to experiment and try different things. Keep trying new things and keep an open mind with new aircraft. Now, back to the having fun part... Got my first real Missile kill against a '21 today. There have been a first kill but it was a combination of missile and guns. After the missile exploded next to him I got an F2 view and saw tail pieces blown off. He hardly maneuvered and I shot most of my ammo into him before he fell. Not a real missile kill. Today's kill was pure missile. As he went up, I got good tone and fired from about 200m. The missile's explosion completely hid the enemy plane. As I scrambled to turn on my guns(hint: Right click with mouse) I saw there was a fuel leak and he ejected almost immediately . Woohoooo! In conclusion, the Missile works, the Mig is not indestructible and there is some fun value here.
