I only had my phone with me, so image quality is lackluster. I apologize for that. The F-5A was donated to Northrop from the RNoAF and got the museum started, I'm not sure when. They had the F-5A, a RAF 2-seat Harrier, the YF-23 PAV2 (Grey Ghost,) an YF-17, an F-14B (or thats what the museum guide thought it was,) and a T-38 on display. For me, the YF-23 was the real reason for going. That aircraft is even more beautiful up close than on the pictures. I think I'm in love! Again, sorry about the picture quality. EDIT: I am horrible at posting pictures, so the post will be broken up in to 3 or 4.

You should try it. The trick is to have climb power ready, and sidestep into the upward portion of the tip vortices. As long as this can be done quickly enough to get there before the vortices follow the fuselage, it should work. The tail rotor makes this easier. My guess is that it will work in the shark, but require more violent maneuvering to achieve.

So it actually works in game.. That is really cool, if expected. I just attended the Robinson safety course at the factory in Torrance, and was curious if you guys had tried it yet. I'll just add a little clarification: the recovery actually happens as the rotor disc enters the upwards (outer) flow of the tip votice, and not clean air. I am baffled as to how this is only now starting to become a "big thing" in heli aviation if it has been practiced for decades..

F-111 would be insanely cool!

Holy crap! I am a helicopter student myself, and that sounds terrifying! Sorry to hear you had to discontinue your training. Can I ask what helicopter you trained on? I'm glad to say that I haven't had any real life oh shit moments to do with flying yet.. In lockon there have been a couple; like killing 3 enemy fighters and sinking an FFG in my Su-33 only to realize on final for the Kuznetzow that I never even tried landing on a carrier before, and susequently crashing into its...behind.

Only helicopters with two-bladed, semi-rigid, underslung main rotors are susceptible to mast bumping. It is s the underslung part that actually makes mast bumping possible.
-
All I know for sure is that in the Robinson R22 helicopter, the cyclic is not spring loaded.

Awesome of you to hold this contest! I don't have the mig, but I could afford it if I had te time to use it. Good luck to the contestants!

Ah... Op title then. I'm not used to making threads :-P

Ok I was just in the shower, and had an idea. Normally I would think nothing of it, but I heard great ideas always comes in the shower or bathtub.. Also, this might be an old idea or even a mod already exist for it afaik.. What if ED made a simple planning tool. It could be the same map as the editor use, only with different functionality.. - multiplayer log in with passwords.. - hierarcally delegated tools like pointer, measuring tape, striped paint (for ie DMZs) - ability for pilots to view the map trough the "eyes" of the squadron commander With this we could have a simple, powerful tool to conduct battle plans, have squadron briefings, or just plan your flight with your wingman or copilot.. I'm sure you guys could word this much better, and come up with much better ways to configure it, but you get the general idea :)

Ah, I guess I'll skip ahead to the pickup session for now then.. Thanks for the info!

I'm having a bit of a hangup as well, when it's telling me to make sure the throttle is set to idle part. I tried pressing the page down button 500 times and keeping it depressed for over a minute. I have a sneaky feeling that my x-52 pro is the problem though, but I dont see quite how.. I checked my axis and it seems good. I also used the input overlay to confirm that the throttle is properly idle. Could anyone post a pictur of what it looks like when idle? Thanks.

Ok I'm convinced. Just don't want to step on any toes :)

Ok then I guess I'll have to check with the store, if they need any proof or confirmation from ED. Thanks guys!
-
Ok great, I suppose that means ED doesn't mind if I print them for personal use. I'll wait for confirmation from an ED rep anyway.

I wasnt entirely sure where to post this, hope this subforum is ok. I have a question regarding copyright: Am I allowed to go to a local copy store, hand them the digital pdf of the manuals of the modules that I have payed for and ask them to print them out in i.e. bookform for my private use? I believe they will require some proof that they dont infringe on any copyright agreements.

Bought it!

I thought they announced the fc3 level su27 to be the sm version in the 30 minute roadmap video some months ago.. Was that just me wanting it too much to realise it wasn't, or has it been changed?

I actually successfully used the cobra once back in 1.12b. Don't quite remember how I got into the situation, but I got into a low and slow vertical (meaning I was slow) against an eagle driver. I was beneath him, and could see him going over the top and starting to turn into me with way superior energy while I was desperately trying to get my hms on him. I pulled a cobra, managed to get off 2 73s and barely had enough airspeed to avoid smearing my plane all over the mountainside, eagle parts raining all around me. It was lucky and desperate, but it still worked. Not something I'll forget :-)

Ok I finally decided to try another browser, and Opera worked.. Thanks for the help Mastiff :)
