The nvidia GTX 560ti just entered the market, and apparently pretty much blows the competition out of the water in it's price class (around 250 USD.) I'm starting to think I should have gotten a 560 SLI instead of my current single 580, as it's half the price (per unit) and would enable me to run triple-screen. Edit: perhaps you could provide a link to the dealer's site, so we could check prices and pick a composition for you?

Best of luck to you. I LOVE the 33, and a good new model would be awesome!

Building my new computer, could use input!

Heisann Teejay! I think we shouls stick to english in this forum, mate ;) The computer is allready sent, so it is too late to change anything now. 120GB should be sufficient for my needs. The SSD is faster than the discs you suggested, as well as way cheaper, I'm on a tight budget here.. About the cabinet you might be right, but this supplier doesn't seem to have it in stock. Perhaps you could provide a link? I heard the 580 cards are cooling them sufficiently, especially if you don't overclock them, wich I don't intend to do. That is from reviews though, I have no first hand experience. Anyways, It's bought now, but thanks for the input anyway ;) -

Sandy Bridge? Netherlands? I googled sandy bridge, seems it's a new kind of processor coming on the market. It's not out yet here in Norway yet as far as I could find, and I'm not waiting for new stuff to come out.. Thanks for the tip though. -

Hmm yeah that will save me 200. Thanks, I'll have a look. About disabling page file on RAM; please talk to me like I am a baby, I really don't know much about hardware. I am thinking 3x4GB or 6x2GB (whatever is best performance value for money) of reasonable quality. -

Ha ha ha, I've kinda noticed. Lucky for me I'm not smart then...oh wai.. -

Well, my reasoning is mostly that memory chips are realtively cheap, honestly, as well as preparing for what comes in a year or two, heh :P Thanks again for the observations, Mower. Much appreciated. -

Currency is NOK. 1 NOK = ~6USD, ~10GBP, ~8EUR, etc.. About overclocking I don't really want to delve into that, at least not initially. My plan is for this stuff (at least the big, expensive parts,) to be good enough to last me a couple of years without any speedbumps, and not wearing it out too fast. -

Ok great, thanks Mower. About RAM, do you mean higher quality than what I linked? The motherboard is limited when it comes to speed, and I am overshooting my budget limit as it is :music_whistling: Edit: Do you mean more like this? -
Hi. I have asked around quite a lot on different forums, and have gotten tons of good advice. I'd like to be a 110% sure nothing is amiss though, as this will be a huge chunk of my money. Okey, so here are the components I'm planning at the moment: Processor Motherboard Memory Graphics card Hard drive SSD Powersupply Cabinet DVD-ROM OS It have been suggested that I go for 6x2GB memory pins instead of 3 4GB for increased performance. I am also contemplating getting an aftermarket CPU cooler after reading up on that processor a bit. Any suggestions/input is very welcome. Thanks.

Personally I am extremely pleased to see ED meticulously putting stone on stone, building everything on a solid foundation, then adding features and complexity as resources allow. I have every confidence that we eventually wil get a full dynamic campaign, a complete range of strikers and fighters, dynamic weather, 3-4 different scenarios and even some stuff we can't even imagine right now. It just so happens that they cannot pull it out of their hats. One step at a time, they are going about it the right way. Just look at FC 2.0, then DCS:BS, then at DCS:A-10C. It should be obvious that we are heading for simmer heaven.

Now that looks cool! Well, thanks for the answers everyone, we'll see how it goes :)

Hmm ok thanks for the tips guys. Any chance you could take a picture to give me an idea of how it will end up looking?

Woah, an RNoAF F-16!

In time I want to set up 3 screens for simming. My problem is the plastic edges of the screens breaking up the image with centimeters of plastic edges. So my question is if anyone here have tried removing the frames to in effect make a single uninterrupted large screen.. I have never seen a picture of a setup like this, so I have my doubts about this, but I have to check ;) Thanks in advance!:helpsmilie:

That vid gave me a good, nostalgic feeling, bringing me back to my novice days of lockon! Music worked well, and the flankers are pretty much the coolest planes on earth. Good stuff. I think I can explain riptide for you. He is not trying to be cruel or impolite. By saying your untrained use of the HAT-switch is subconsciously blocking your brain from doing an F-pole he doesn't mean that you must be dumb to fly like that, or that your brain is somehow below par. He simply means that the ineffective hat-switch combined with your somewhat untrained use of it is preventing you from gathering the information you need to do what is tactically sound. He just didn't wrap it up too nicely ;) But he is right; my mind was not nearly as flexible and focused and aware of my situation in the sim/game as it is now after I got my TiR. It simply lessens your workload and quickens you gathering of situational awareness. I can give you a few tips right now on how to get more out of that hat switch, until you decide to get yourself a trackIR... 1: Assign a shift-state button with all directions on the hat, to let you snap-look up, left, right, far left, far right, down at your gauges, and close-up at your SPO-15. If you have a HOTAS this can probably easily be set up in the profiler. If not, assign LShift+HATleftdown to for instance snap view to far left, etc, etc.. 2: When focusing at the hud, zoom your view farther in to barely include the MFD and HUD. This will in my experience maximize Situatioal Awareness gain rate. 3: Assign a handily placed button to reset view. Default is numpad 5. Best of luck, and have fun! -
This will be HUGE when it comes out. An update perhaps?

How was the participation in that 80's weekend, case? I'd be interested in those same kind of stats for that one if it's possible to view anything else than full months. I can't help thinking that an 80's setting is probably the only credible way to realistically balance Lockon somewhat in multiplayer. Personally I love fighting in an inferior plane, much because the feeling you get when you down an allmighty high-flying eagle or two with your ancient SAR missiles is just worth getting shot down now and then for. Even better if you fly with someone and use teamwork to bring down numerically or technologically superior adversaries! -
Yeah I think the helicopters are pretty quick to respon up here. Don't want to find you to be honest :P

Add the Su-27SM at least and maybe the Mig-29SMT to that list and I'll throw in a +1 as well.

19k redline, damn! Those cilynders must be working their tiny asses off, hehe! What year is it from? Looks early 90s to me. I have a GSXR 400 '91, it redlines at 15.5k and delivers about 60bhp.. The racebike almost 45 at the rear wheel... A truly incredible drive! Yeah western Norway have AMAZING roads..
