  1. It's not that it's frustrating, I am used to bug reports and feedback like this - as I have a background in creating the same types of mods for ArmA 2 and ArmA 3 over the years. It is, however, hard for me to fix a problem that I'm not having in my game. Me and a few friends got into DCS last night and went for a little formation flight, and couldn't hear any abnormalities - or sounds that we thought "well that shouldn't be there". I also had my buddy do several F11/F3 fly-by's and we could not notice anything that was out of place. Same goes for my entire feedback crew. Not saying that it's just you - but it is extremely hard to fix a problem that I or my team are not also experiencing. Nevertheless, I'm still looking into it (when I can), and will update here if I find a issue/solution. The only notable "problem" is with the howl. Since it was added as a work around (because ED doesn't have a publicly accessible sound API like ArmA) there will be things you notice that aren't quite right about it, and the aircraft in general. This is above me, and won't be able to fix until we get better tools (if we ever do) from Eagle Dynamics. Ideally, you would have completely separate sound samples between the F2/F4/F5 and F3/F11 views - as one is static and the others (F3/F11, flyby views) are obviously not static and do not move with the aircraft. The same type of issues arise with ArmA, as there are only two camera types. External, and internal. The game does not take into consideration if you are in any particular view, and will play the same samples regardless. When in Zeus (the live game editor) and flying with an aircraft, you'll hear the samples looping as you move with the aircraft. This is more or less noticeable between each aircraft/vehicle/ship. Same goes for DCS. We are a long ways off from ED doing any sort of major audio engine overhaul, as it seems they've taken a step backwards by hiding more controls into the game engine's API. Which is a huge bummer for audio enthusiast like myself. If you'd like to chat with me or with everyone in the E19 discord, join in and lets talk! https://discord.gg/tjDUaT
  2. Ah - yes. I've seen this.
  3. I'm sure it's a simple fix, however, I don't have a lot of time currently - and my entire feedback team (made up of almost 10 individuals) haven't reported this issue. What is Waterman's mod? To my knowledge; this is the only Hornet audio overhaul that has this much work and resources put into it.
  4. Just returning home after a long weekend of work, Moltar is looking into his side of things. The VUAF held the Swiss Hornet demo and used the mod and sounded great. Thanks! :)
  5. Alright, yes that is strange. I’ll look into this.
  6. Be sure you're installing the mod correctly - the game no longer should be using the "Whistle2" sound. Check the SDEF file associated with the Whistle2 and make sure it is pointing to a different audio file.
  7. As far as the “whisk” noise you’re hearing, I can look into that, as that’s not a normal behavior you should be experiencing. I’m not sure how you’re hearing the Whistle2 sound, unless you’re flying very fast and in F2. It is supposed to be a flyby effect. I should also point out that you’ll have a far better result with this mod while using a F3, and F11 camera modes. Thanks for the report! Edit: The Whistle2 ogg doesn't play in-game anymore, it was replaced by a flyby effect. The howl sound I implemented replaced it. I think you're hearing an artifact caused by reducing the level of "noise" from the aircraft, since it was cleaned up quite a bit. Nonetheless, it still shouldn't sound this way and will be looking into it further.
  8. Thanks!

  10. Update 10/12/18: NEW VIDEO! Releasing next week. :)
  11. Last I heard; one of the focuses that ED are working on is the improvement in their weather/cloud systems. (amongst many other things) https://www.gamingnexus.com/Article/5797/A-interview-with-DCSs-Matt-Wagner-/

    Client VR

Why would this be needed? You can play with those who are and aren't using VR in the same session.
  13. Actually, yes! I can take all the help I can get. Shoot me a PM. I would love to; except I'm trying to only use samples either I myself, or a staff member of Echo 19 have recorded with the new era of sound work I'm getting into. Unless you know of some good spots where I might be able to record a M2000. ;)
  14. RELEASE TEASER I'm proud to announce that you will be able to download this overhaul, for free, on October 19th of 2018! In two short weeks, you'll be able to experience the Hornet like never before. Stay up to date on our official website, Facebook and Patreon feeds: https://official.echo19audio.com (original post updated)
  15. Depends on which sound you're trying to gain up, as many sounds have other variables you have to consider into volume level.
  16. A more advanced/better functioning weather system (including better clouds) is something that has been on my DCS bucketlist for quite some time now. Imagine flying above, or through, volumetric clouds in VR.... omg. ;D
  17. Mission Ready Mission Ready
  18. As the title suggests; is there any possibility, in the near future, that the community would receive access to the audio API currently implemented in DCS? Apart from being able to replace sound samples and edit basic sdef settings, the overall functionality and efficiency of making any sort of sound related mod is very limiting. There's only so much you can do with the given set of files that are made available for modding. Having access to at least some of the sound engine's functionality would open up a whole new door of possibilities - like being able to add-in or change variables on how a specific sound is played, or adding more sounds/samples to a module. Are there any plans of changing this in the future? If not; is this a reasonable request for the dev team?
  19. Not yet! I'm planning on releasing it within the next month or so. Stay tuned to my YouTube and Patreon for updates!
  20. Re-asking this - anyone have suggestions/input?
  21. Thanks fellas, I've really enjoyed working on this. Hopefully this will inspire others as well.
  22. Has there been any updates as to how we could call our own sounds into an aircraft? I assume the new sound engine made it pretty much impossible to do, since most of the code that handles how/when a sound plays is hidden somewhere. Being able to make changes to how the game does handle these sounds would give me, and other sound modders, a huge leg up in sound design. There is a /ed_sound.dll file in the bin folder - but cannot be read by any of my decompilers since it is in 64bit format. I was hoping ED could provide some information behind this, but their tech support is less than easy to talk to unfortunately.
