And that´s only your opinion... Attack other guys for their (proper) opinion, is also not the finest way.
I love DCS for what it is, but the performance isn´t very good. Especially in VR. Framedrops from 90 down to 40 and back to 50 and again 90. That´s simply a fact. You can measure it out with simply software.
Currently the map-3d-buildings are not destructable, haven´t the great look nor great textures, but the framerate still breaks down, when flying over a town, or looking from the sea in the direction of a town.- Bad performance.
Compared to other sims or games, DCS isn´t very optimized. But I know, compare a sim like DCS to other software isn´t easy.
I hope the best for the future and 2.5 and I think, the developers are working hard to make it more stable especially in VR. They all know, that VR is the future. The developers of BMS 4.33 will shoot in their own knee, as many of the BMS-simmers stuck flying in DCS now, because of their ignorance to support VR. And it´s a game-changer.
When you say, that some people don't care about VR, then I guess, you don´t use it. And yes, you are right.- SOME people don´t care about it. But it is the future and I think, we all have to accept this. It can´t be ignored. And especially sims have to go with it. Take a look at Iracing. It´s the best example. That´s THE!! hardcore-sim with THE!! hardcore-community! Driving with 3 monitors was great and much easier (in case of performance) then it would be in DCS. But the first thing the developers did, after the oculus came out, was implementing it into the sim. And it runs better then any other game/sim. And all the hardcore-simmers with their thousands of € expensive rigs, change into VR and accept, that they don´t see their 6000€ wheel for getting the perfect immersion and a better lap- performance...
All sim-developers have to implement VR and support it more, then anything else. Otherwise there are coming another developers with the same quality of content, but much better VR support and you will loose... That´s my opinion.
