  1. I can help you figure some of this out. The reason you are getting 45 fps (just like i am) is because you have reprojection enabled on the Vive. What the vive does is anything that drops too far below 90 fps, it cuts it in half to 45 fps while maintaining (supposedly) the 90 fps movement with headtracking only. So its like your head moves at 90 but everything else is at 45 I guess. If you turn off reprojection it would likely be much worst so I wouldnt... but the news of major VR improvements coming is exactly what I was wanting to know about.
  2. Are you trying to say that my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU? This is not true at all!! First off, my CPU is not running at 100% during this game which it would have to be to bottleneck. Nor is it running at 100% during any other game that actually utilizes all cores. I think this is what you are trying to say with all the IPC talk. As far as the IPC, I don't know about that but are you suggesting that an I7-6700k would be a drastic improvement in fps? I am pretty sure the improvement (considering this game is only using 2 cores) would be marginal. No offense but you sound like an AMD fanboy trying to claim that it is the only way to go for VR. I have already invested in my Nvidia card recently and am using an upgrade program to go from 970 to 1070 so I will not, regardless of how it performs on this game, be switching anytime soon. I can't justify switching to AMD just for one game considering I haven't had an issue so far with any others in VR or otherwise. My CPU is fine for now as well, I know it could be better but it is overclocked to 4ghz and is NOT bottlenecking the GPU at all. I feel strongly that if this game utilized 4 cores instead of 2, this wouldn't be a problem at all in VR. I also have heard that in reality, it only uses 1 core for graphics related stuff and the other is only for sound... so in reality single core. Thanks for your suggestion to solve this by "switching to AMD" but I can't take that advice and welcome suggestions from others.
  3. Thx for the suggestion but I have to disagree with that. As i said before, people here have said even a 1080 doesn't seem to help. And considering the cpu usage uses only something like two cores... I think the cpu isn't a huge issue either. Of course a 6700k would be better but not by much on this game as u said so I agree with that. As for whether AMD is better, I'm not going to switch out my graphics card for one game. Maybe this game is more optimized for AMD but switching to AMD is out of the question for me. It seems like u are saying AMD is better for VR all around. Considering I have good experience with other VR games so far, nah. If I can get 180fps in nonVR mode then this seems more like a lack of VR optimization than any sort of hardware issue.
  4. Yep I know exactly what u mean. I saw that too and the fps drops to less than 30.i don't understand the performance issues it seems it is something that can be fixed maybe with a patch. I look forward to hearing about 2.0.
  5. Wonderful! Am I also right that FC3 is the best package to get for a variety of planes? That's the only one I have seen so far that has more than one plane in it.
  6. Hi, I have read some posts about how DCS World 1.5 doesn't use much of the CPU or something and some people have a hard time getting a steady 90fps even on lower settings. I am wondering if this is true and is going to be fixed (i heard it may be better in the 2.0 alpha) or am I doing something wrong? I usually end up in reprojection while using my Vive. I have tried medium settings, turning shadows down, mirrors are off, turning down draw distance. Crazy thing is I can get around 180fps sometimes in non VR mode looking at the cockpit but in VR it is 45 (reprojecting.) My rig is here: Virtual Reality: HTC Vive HOTAS: Saitek X52 Pro CPU: i7-950 Overclocked to 4ghz Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 MB: ASRock x58 Extreme GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW RAM: 24GB G Skill Sniper DDR3 1600 PSU: EVGA 650-GQ (650 watts) OS: Windows 10 I plan to upgrade to the GTX 1070 soon but I heard also some saying that even the 1080 had these same issues. Thanks
  7. Hi, I am brand new to DCS but not new to sims. I just got the X52 Pro and I thought I would just manually assign all the buttons the way I want within DCS World. I started doing that and quickly realized I needed more buttons and would need to take advantage of the pinky trigger as a modifier. So I manually assigned the pinky trigger as a modifier within DCS World 1.5 and to do that I needed to disable any profiles on the X52. Now I realize the point of the "mode" switch is to have seperate banks of assignments for the keys also to further expand the amount of buttons you can use. The thing is, I don't see a way to make that work within DCS World. Am I going about this wrong and should I be actually doing all this in the X52 profiler and not doing anything in DCS World? It would be nice if there was a profile for DCS World I could atleast start off with and then be able to maybe go into DCS World while using that profile, and then assign the profiled buttons to what I want in DCS World. If that is confusing, you are not alone.. I confused myself while thinking about it and writing it lol. Any help with the easiest way to go about it would be wonderful. Thanks, Bluelight
  8. I am a little confused and new to DCS World. I decided to go with the standalone version instead of steam cause I thought I read some modules are not available on steam and also the updates come out first on standalone etc. Can you buy steam modules and use them on the standalone version of DCS world using the cd-key? If so, does it only work from steam to standalone and not the other way around? (Meaning you can't use standalone codes to unlock steam modules?) It's sort of confusing.. I want to get the Fallen Cliffs 3 module cause I thought it would be the best to give me a variety of planes to use and then after, maybe a heli. So it would be nice to take advantage of the steam sale to get a module and use on the standalone if possible. :D
