  1. Fight for Honor - A Folds of Honor Charity Event No one is saying with the 14 that is was common or uncommon. All anyone is saying is that it shouldnt be done and bad things can happen if you do exceed those limits.
  2. Fight for Honor - A Folds of Honor Charity Event I think it’s a combination of that, the anonymity the internet provides, and the inability of a large part of humanity to simply say they don’t know the answer to something. People feel a sense of superiority imo when they provide an answer, even when it’s wrong, instead of saying they don’t. Couple that with being anonymous on the internet and makes it even easier. Since people don’t really know who you are when they do find out you’re actually wrong and full of it they can’t come punch you in the face in real life.
  3. I think so. It’s something we also enforce in SATAL, the BVR league. I believe it forces greater tactical decision making and forces pilots to evaluate decisions with more awareness due to fuel management requirements and aircraft fatigue. The last thing we want is for someone to win a fight in these competitions and then run out of fuel while calling themselves a winner. That just feels cheap and half hearted and doesn’t showcase the full scope. You’re only a winner in my book if you come back.
  4. No, lol. Any landing where the aircraft doesn’t blow up and you die is a good landing as long as it’s on the designated airfield.
  5. Because some of us use the mod structure in DCS for mod installs. I do the same thing for my sound mod.
  6. Hopefully. However it won’t start on the streaming side for about a month as we are about a month behind us on past matches.
  7. This issue has been discussed on Discord, but I am posting here for transparency.
  8. Originally Mover and I had thought the G limit was 6.5 for the tomcat. However, after looking into Grumman documentation and reviewing the Natops we found that it was intact 7.5. The 7 and 8 g limits in the competition come from there also being an added .5 g buffer that is given to pilots for extra room.
  9. You said earlier that the Tomcat has no G limit, but in the actual Grumman documentation and Natops it had a G limit of 7.5. You’re basing all of your assertions on what you’ve read in books and online and continually put down input provided by real world jet pilots right here in this thread. It makes you come across as a know it all, but in reality I’m betting you have no real world experience. I just can’t wrap my head around how you can do that. Just because a pilot did something doesn’t mean it was right or should have been done, in your case your accounts about this 14 pilot. Lots of these planes can pull more than the rated G. However if you do do that bad things can happen which is exactly why it should not be done unless you are going to fly into the ground and become part of the dirt. Planes are not expendable assets. Planes are war machines used to fight. A plane that was over limited has to be taken down and serviced or even worse decommissioned to make it capable again and a plane that is down is one less plane that can be used to fight. So my suggestion to everyone here is to get off your high horse and listen to the guys that have done this in real life. And when I say listen to the guys that have done it in real life I mean the people that you can talk to right here and right now and not from some book. Mover, Lex, and GB have all flown in real life and still do to this day so discounting what they’re saying comes across as close minded and self absorbed. This event is going to have G limits whether you like it or not so continued complaining about it is going to do nothing. Let’s all work towards having a good time and raising funds for an awesome charity.
  10. Fight for Honor - A Folds of Honor Charity Event You do realize Mover is a Viper Air Force pilot that now trains other servicemen in air combat as an aggressor? So, you’re probably right that he had no idea how to fly a plane or fight in actual combat let alone if you should or shouldn’t look at your G indicators in an aircraft. Therefore, with all of your enlightenment and reading, why don’t you tell all of us how the real fly boys do it all? I’m sorry to start this snarky attitude, but frankly this whole mindset of people trying to tell real Air Force pilots what is right or wrong is just ridiculous.
  11. Forgot to change that spot. It is caucuses.
  12. BREAKING NEWS!!! CW Lemoine (Mover) just announced during an interview that the winner of Fight for Honor tournament will have the opportunity to 1v1 Falco; the AI from the Alpha Dogfight Trials! Think you can best the real fly boys? Now is your time to shine! Buckle up because things just got real! Interview can be seen here.
  13. Appreciate the dedication to the cause!
  14. Map has been updated to Caucuses over Anapa to be more inclusive.
  15. G limits are visible in Tacview using either acmi files or real-time telemetry.
  16. Ive noticed a significant FPS loss in the latest version of FPS. This FPS loss is, for me at least, as high as 33%. Ive included a couple tracks from 2 different versions of DCS. In the DCS 2.5.6.52437 track I was averaging 120 FPS and noted that when I looked at the sky where nothing is rendered that the FPS would spike up to the neighborhood of 200 FPS. This are great frame rates and make DCS run nice and smooth. In DCS 2.5.6.54046, however, I have noticed that my frames drop to an average of around 70 FPS and never go above 80. The same trick of looking at the sky to drastically increase FPS no longer works as a check. I tried to ensure that settings between the 2 play through were the same. I was at 4k for both with flat shadows and high everything. I noticed that BIGNEWY had suggested increasing the page file to increase performance, but I am on 64gb of memory with a 2080ti and a 10900k at 5.4ghz. I feel like the page file is the least of my worries with this current build of DCS. This FPS loss makes the game virtually unplayable in MP as MP decreases FPS naturally over SP anyway. Now when I am in an MP server, that I normally would have no issue pinning at 60 for vsync, Im getting 20-50 FPS no matter what I do and where I am on any map. 17. Appreciate that, BIGNEWY! Fold of Honor is a great charity for a great cause indeed.

TIMETABLE - September 26th and 27th, 2020 - Fight for Honor kicks off with opening rounds taking place. No streams will take place the 26th as event smoothness is our topmost concern and with so many combatants priority will be given to ensuring everyone has a top notch experience. Streams for the 27th are TBD. - October 3rd and 4th, 2020 - Mid and final rounds for Fight for Honor kick in. This weekend will be streamed in its entirety. - Tournament brackets will depend on the number of teams at signup. - Groupings will also depend on the number of teams. - Participants should expect to possibly fly multiple times a day depending on the number of signups. - All matches will be streamed and track-able on DCSWorldEvents. - Future DCS modules will be included in the tournament automatically. RULES* - Map used for all matches will be Caucuses. - Mission location on the Caucuses over the Anapa airfield. Same as 2019. - Aircraft Allowed: Any official DCS World module is allowed to compete though fuel amounts and weights have been changed in an attempt to give each aircraft a similar amount of flight time in full burner. - Matches will consist of 3 rounds in a best of 3 scenario. If a tie occurs more rounds will be flown in a sudden death style until a winner can be determined. - Round Setups will consist of players starting 4 miles, line abreast at 15,000ft maintaining the same heading with an airspeed of 400 knots. - Turn in for initial merge will be coordinated between the advisories via Discord voice comms. - Turn in should be done at or as close to 15000ft as possible. Off angle is allowed as long as you maintain a hot aspect to your opponent with your nose having no more than 30 degrees of deviation from their aircraft's nose. - No head on shots prior to the first 3/9 passage. - Use of the landing flaps exploit on the F14 Tomcat is banned. Pilots found to be exploiting this bug will be disqualified. - Participants win rounds by eliminating their adversary. - You must land after eliminating your opponent at the airbase centered in the engagement area. This ensures that pilots do not eliminate their target and then immediately run out fuel. Failure to make it back to the airbase safely will result in a round draw. - *G Limits for all aircraft are being imposed this year to remove or greatly reduce the opportunity people have to exploit. If a pilot is found to have gone over the G limit for their aircraft a round loss will be issued for that round for that pilot. G Limits for specific aircraft are as follows. If you do not see the aircraft you are flying assume that there is no G Limit. F-16 9.5G F/A-18 8.0G Mirage 9.5 F-14 8G F-15 9.5G SU-27 9.5G MiG-29 9.5G A-10 7.33G F-5 7.5G MiG-21 9G F-86 7.5G MiG-15 6G JF-17 8.5G Harrier 8.5G Viggen 7.5G All Props 8.5G *G limits for all aircraft consist of the main aircraft G limit and a .5 buffer. For example, the FA-18C Hornet has a G limit of 7.5. We have added a buffer of .5 to allow for inaccuracies in the sim and Tacview for a total G limit of 8 which can be seen above in the G limit list. Therefore it is heavily advised that you fly to the actual aircraft G limit and not the G limit + the buffer. Give yourself room or you may find your self disqualified. WEAPON AND AIRCRAFT RESTRICTIONS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)* - All Aircraft are allowed for this competition. - Guns are the only allowable weapons for all aircraft. MISSION & WEATHER* - Mission location will be on the Caucuses map. - Specific mission location is TBD - Weather will be clear, calm, cavok. - Time of day will be 12, noon. REGISTRATION** Registration for the Fight for Honor tournament must be done at this link for Givergy. There is a $10 cost for registration. All proceeds will be going to the Folds of Honor Charity. After signing up for the event head over to the DCS World Events Discord for more to keep up-to-date on information, schedules, rules, and prizes.
  19. It needs to be installed in saved games.
  20. You can still get them I think, they’re just not updated. I’m pretty sure I have a link for it somewhere if you can’t find one.
  21. Terrain mods pass IC as long as the server turns off pure textures in server options. Terrain mods work on Blue Flag, 104th, and Growling Sidewinder.
  22. Yeah that’s way to light. Real trees are a lot darker. Also, does this pass IC?
  23. There are multiple rule sets. The teams are allowed to choose which rule set they wish to use prior to the match.
  24. Here is the first video in our new Thrustmaster video series. These videos will include supercuts and highlights of all the matches before and after they stream. Big shot out to Alpha-Whisky for being my man behind the scenes! Remember stream number 1 kicks off Tuesday 1500z! See you there! DCS SATAL 2020: 36th Stormo Virtuale VS Eclipse Task Force Supercut
