Merge for the Cure - A COVID19 Relief Charity Event
M0ltar replied to M0ltar's topic in Tournaments & Events
That should indeed read land. Brackets are going to be random. If someone decides to take a P51 or something that’s on them. You fly against who you fly against. There will be no division based on era or type. -

If you really want to fly a helicopter I will gladly add one for you. You'd have to start at 20k though and I don't know how a heli is going to deal with that. Probably not happily. -
super sudden blackout instead of gradual blackout (8.5g)... (initial report january) You guys can argue all you want about g on different parts of the body or different onset or whatever. The main issue with dcs is we’re not flying real planes. DCS I can almost certainly say does not model pilot g to the extent that some people are talking about in this thread. It is much much more simplistic. The real issue, to me at least, is that in a real plane you’re going to feel the onset of g on your body. You’re going to feel the g increasing. Youre going to feel the suit tightening. You’re going to feel, when pulling more and more g, that you’re getting closer to your limit and need to back off. The issue DanielNL I think is trying to convey is that a lot of times you just black out in DCS for seemingly no reason. The g limit in DCS does not demonstrate anything close to what a real pilot would be trained to deal with in many many different types of maneuvers from what I’ve come to understand. In just a tight horizontal turn in the sim I can get my virtual pilot to start blacking out at 7 g and he can only maintain 9 g for a second or 2. You go from no encroaching black on the sides of your screen or very very little to instantly blacking out of you pull just a little too hard with almost no warning or none at all. That’s not ok in my eyes and has led me and others to die repeatedly. DCS needs a redux on the g system and we need more indication somehow that pilot g limit is being reached regardless of the actual upper threshold. Multiple 16 pilots I have talked to have said on multiple occasions that 16 pilots train to sustain 9 g or more for extended periods of time and not just instantly black out. The plane was designed to do this. The entire system, plane, pilots, etc was made to be able to pull maximum g for longer periods of time. I’ve heard anywhere between 20 seconds to a minute or even more. Also the fact that if you pull 8 g in the sim, almost black out, let off on the pull to lessen the g, and then try and add more pull again during the same turn you’ll almost fully black out at 6.5 g instead of the higher limit that started it all to begin with. That’s just seems wrong. I e never flown a real jet fighter, but from trying to simply educate myself on material out their already and from first hand accounts from people that have done it in real life DCS needs some major work. Tldr pilot g in DCS is a mess and needs to be revamped soon.

SIGNUP AND DONATION INFO This event is open to anyone; lonewolves, noobs and pros. If you want to get in on the action, and simultaneously support kicking COVID19's ass, sign on up! In order to signup for this event you MUST make a one time donation to Doctors Without Borders or other similar charity, CDC, United Nations, etc, with a minimum of 10 USD along with making a new post following the template at the bottom of the OP (See my example at the bottom of this post). Donating more is of course allowed and strongly encouraged. A screenshot of your donation will be required to accompany your signup post. The reason to not have a dedicated charity is because DCS is a truly international simulator and a single charity may not benefit everyone. I want participants to donate directly to the charity or organization that they believe can make a difference. Donating directly also eliminates the need for a middile man and the complications that that can cause. So in short, pick a charity associated to COVID19 relief, research, etc and signup! More registration information can be found at the bottom of this post. Please check your schedules for match times and ensure that you know when they are. Remember that you can fly matches early. You simply need to submit a track and tacview to the verification channel. We had a couple no call no shows last match day, so lets try and make sure we dont miss any more going forward. If you do NOT wish to fly your match early or are having difficulty reaching your opponent please ensure that you show up here on the S1G discord in the dedicated voice channels at least 15 min ahead of your scheduled match time. Happy flying! https://splashonegaming.com/ac/

SATAL 2020 Id like to have a PvP/team meeting this upcoming weekend. Seems there has been some confusion this year in regards to several things and I think it would be good to get the PvP players of DCS together to have a chat about expectations for this year and thoughts about last year. Anyone is welcome at this meeting, but it will be focused around the squadrons and teams that will or have competed in SATAL in the past and this year. Agenda for this meeting will be for me to explain this upcoming years SATAL, what happened last year during the end of the year tournament with delays, and information exchange between myself, teams, and individuals. See you all there. Meeting Time - Saturday April 4 @ 1600z. Meeting Location - Splash One Gaming Discord Voice Channels

Here is a pack of rough missions for Gold and Diamond. Disregard the name on the missions for the leagues as the missions will work for both. These are not done, but should have spawns at the airfields. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Q8VnKICslnI4ksKX5OQSKk0wqD_PSIXB?usp=sharing

A couple reminders to all teams that have joined or are thinking about joining. WEAPON AND AIRCRAFT RESTRICTIONS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)* - Weapons Restrictions Diamond League: Each aircraft is permitted to carry a maximum of 6 active missiles with the exception of any Phoenix variant which is restricted to 4 until magic INS is fixed for the Tomcat. Each aircraft is also limited to carrying 2 9X, but can take unlimited of other 9 variants. - Weapons banned Diamond League: Nukes - Aircraft Banned Diamond League: FC3 F-15 Eagle - Weapons restrictions Gold League: Each aircraft is permitted to carry a maximum of 6 active missiles with the exception of any Phoenix variant which is restricted to 4 until magic INS is fixed for the Tomcat. - Weapons banned Gold League: 120C, 9X, Phoenix mk60, Phoenix C, Nukes - Aircraft Banned Gold League: None - Breaking payload rules during the round leads to an automatic loss of that round for the at fault team. If a payload infraction is noticed only after the match has concluded an automatic loss will be handed to that team at the time of ruling. - Jester is banned from use in Diamond League. If an F14 is used in Diamond League both pilots must be human controlled. There is no limit on the number of pilots only the number of aircraft. Therefore if a team took 6 Tomcats they would need and be allowed 12 pilots. Jester is allowed in Gold League. TEAM SCHEDULING OPTION Due to scheduling issues with teams last year, the continued growth of SATAL, and the fact the SATAL is a truly global competition the SATAL team has decided that teams should have the option to schedule and fly matches on their own time This means that teams can fly any match at any time as long as it is scheduled and agreed upon by their opponents. Teams can also use their own servers if they wish for matches. In order for a match to be counted Tacviews and Tracks of each match must be submitted to the Splash One Gaming SATAL website (Further information on how to do this will be coming soon) and the match must take place before its scheduled date and time on the S1G site. Teams also have the option to utilize official DCS World Events servers if they so wish for official matches although scheduling and accommodations must be made ahead of time with Moltar. If the match is not flown early the match will take place at its scheduled time and date on DCS World Events servers.

Here is the raw data for the schedule. This data will be put on to the Splash One Gaming website tomorrow. Too late for me to do tonight. Please check to see what dates you are flying on. Remember that all matches can and should be flown before the scheduled date. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EA2YzZILwD4Ln0GAOpJ4xA8hbyutaPQp2Uz7Sq8IWfY/edit?usp=sharing

unable to reproduce Viper datalink horrifically inconsistent
M0ltar replied to Ashilta's topic in Bugs and Problems
[CHECKING] Viper datalink horrifically inconsistent They show red because there is a bug with donating contacts. If you lock anyone they are sent via link 16 to other aircraft as enemies even if you have transmit turned off regardless if they are known friendlies or enemies. When you see yourself as a hostile that is because someone is locking you in tws or rws and donating your own aircraft to yourself as a hostile. On top of that the transmit functions for link16 in the viper are broken. There is no way to turn them off. Even when you have the setting set to off on the HSD it still donates the contact to every other aircraft. -
I never got a Pm from you on the forums or Discord. Can you try sending it again?
-
Most people are fine with 250. I’m happy to schedule a time to test. We may go back to 300, but I’m going to be very vigilant on people with poor connections.
-
Can you give a more detailed file path explanation? I cant get this to work. Ive been trying to edit the F16 Betty sounds from my original mod pack and I cant get them to take. Im assuming my pathing is wrong somehow. EDIT: Nevermind I think I figured it out. You have to change the F-16 and FA-18 names to make it work. So in the original files the sound folders are falled FA-18C and F-16C. However, in the sounds folder that we are moving things to you need to drop the C designation so its just F-16 and FA-18.

Thank you for pointing that out. Its been fixed.
