  1. Anyone know when the radar was removed from CJ? With the introduction of F4E or earlier?
  2. Yes, I am really sure. :) It says angle of aircraft not antenna and follows how this pitch range is used to show "above", "under" targets in reference to a/c nose angle. There is no direct explaination given for the symbols, unfortunately. It says further in text that with activating low altitude switch, limits the lower zone to 1,5 - 2degrees above horizon. So no, from this text, one can conclude that FOV shrinks in vertical. Zones are defined in text as in search mode to be 60deg azimuth, 20deg elevation. However when it talks in detail, it mentions +17 and -1.5 elevation regarding the horizon.
  3. Listing through the exYu MiG29A manuals, I found interesting information regarding R27R. Manual states that in case of losing lock after missile lunch, you should attempt the relock. In case of very close range fight, you should turn quickly nose toward target. It does not mentions any time/range limit of attempting the relock. It also mentions that 70% of the flight range, missile flies with SAHR homing head off using inertial navigation with corrections recieving from the lunch plane.
  4. Frederf, It's your second image. These are antena's stabilization limits: +/-70deg roll, pitch +8, -25deg. I have attached image from the manual (Translation is mine). It also says that if you are intercepting in low alt (<3km), tactic should be that you are lower then target by 400-500m @ range 5-6km for lockon.
