Modelled AIM-54 effect on a typical DCS PvP server
Blitz05 replied to Pikey's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
climb out to 80k feet and then burn to mach 5, active radar was initiated between 3-5 miles giving you about 4 seconds of reaction time give or take the target altitude. But who knows how they will model it in DCS with how poorly the amraam is modeled I am not going to hold my breath. I really just see it used as missile boat, launch all 4 and pray they hit. But maybe we will get an actual ocean map to accompany better carrier combat. -

Proof or it never happened -
The upgrade in 2015 was for the -5 and to make the glass cockpit NVG compatible. But the thread does have other interesting notes but most of them are no one really knows and that the french just didnt use them for interceptors.
-
the cockpit lights are red and of the same shade so there is minimal interference with NVG and other then the warning panel nothing causes light bloom which is acceptable for NVG qualification on an airframe. So by all standards there should be no reason why we cannot have night vision on the mirage.

Hey Greg any chance for bringing dynamic weather back again, starting to miss the night and bad weather missions -
Night vision is something you clip to your helmet, the aircraft does not need any compatibility with night vision unless maybe you want uv lighting of which the mirage has ingame.

You are forgetting it is not RVE's fault that one team sways to blue or red, it comes down to more people own the a-10 then the ka-50 and the f-15 over the su-27. Also the tendency of people naturally choosing blue over red because blue is viewed as the good guys. To really help out the numbers on both sides put the attack aircraft on both teams and just leave the fighters east vs west. -

That would involve the people who say it needs to be mandatory to actually use it instead of being on teamspeak and not having the application even running. -
If it is as you say it is then that is dissapointing, I will miss the days of using snakeyes and rockets.
-
load up bombs on inner wing pylon and rockets on outer then try to select rockets and fire them. EXT pylons only works if you have rockets on all 4 pylons

so give blue the ka-50 and red the a-10 -
I have the same bug, basically if they are on the ext pylons i cannot select them in the PCA only if they are on int pylons

What about limiting the 4th gen aircraft to 2 lives and have the 3rd gen set at 4? Also with how easily a single or pair of strikers can decimate a base could there possibly be a way to add them to both sides to promote more helicopter assaults? I feel it would both allow each sides players to even themselves out rather then having specific attack airframe dictate what side they join. Of course leave the fighters where they are to add more of the east vs west feeling. I feel trying to promote more of the ground attack aspect and logistical runs would allow blueflag to pull away from airquake style gameplay where most players just want to do cap and instead want them to escort strikers. -

Honestly seeing a gazelle carry anything outside an igla team sounds ludicrous to me but i feel getting 4 hips is a good first step -

Just wanted to do a quick chime in on the helicopter discussion. Red just needs 2 additional hip slots to compensate for the 4 transport gazelles it is not asking for much other then equaling out transport capability and tactical spread of assets to the battlefield. -
Thankyou for the info mirmidon sad to see the dismantling but it is understandable with the newer ka-52. But this begs the question what features differ from the one we have in the game, which from my understanding is a pre production model, and the actual production model. And why would they not model a production model for in game use? If they are retiring them then some info should be a little bit more attainable then previously when BS2 was initially released, so why no systems updates?
-
So let me get this straight, you used a quote that supports my argument and proves yours wrong and you try to use that against me? You have yet to prove that the aircraft never went into production and was a failed concept. You even furthered my ealier point that the early prototypes were updated to current production models.
-
Well excuse me for giving a cited source that calls your opinion false. Once again until you provide information that proves my source wrong I will not take you seriously and consider anything you say as nothing more then conjecture. I have checked on the information and many of them if not all say they are still used in front line special operations support and have not supported any of your claims of a failed concept. If it is so easy for you to find information that proves me wrong by all means present it apparently my google foo is not as good as yours by the way you speak.
-
Ok but do you have any information on what each early production unit has and do you have information on when they were no longer frontline units? All I am hearing from you is they are a rejected combat and few saw combat but no data and as far as I can tell your conjecture with no supporting facts. The only data I have found is they have been given to special operations units and have been adopted as front line units with full production on the way. http://aviastar.org/helicopters_eng/ka-50.php
-
So I keep seeing everyone quote production models and showing pictures of the systems. Does anyone have any documents or vetted links to show what each production number variants and what they were or were not equipped with? Also which versions were used in the Chechnyan conflicts? Besides all of that do people realize that even though there were early production test models that eventually as they get put into the frontline units, they eventually get updated to current specs and that even if one of the earlier ka-50s didnt have them they would now because it they are frontline aircraft.
