Now it all makes more sense, it's trigonometry! :) You know the altitude and the angle of the nose and that's all that is needed to calcluate the distance using sin or cos or tan or something :) I always thought CCIP was just some magical laser that wouldn't overheat :D Thanks for the info and for the video of course. Always forget that

So cool :) Waking up, having a morning cup of coco and a new producers note. What's that spear looking thing in the front that has those moving blades? Looks like something Predator (the alien guy) would carry :) Also love the fact that you could use that chopper almost like a dive bomber if carrying those little bombs :) And the textures are just beautiful. Lots of colour on the ground and water reflecting and stuff :) And the Artillery dust clouds as well. Btw Wags sounded almost happy during this note so maybe the release of the sim is nigh :D

Don't buy anything yet if it isn't necessary. The schools start next month and I bet the prices will come down even more. And those 4870X2 reviews are done from sample cards so wait for the actual release of them in August 13th for proper reviews. I figure some site will do a test with FSX as it seems to be a quite popular benchmark :)

Thanks Trig, that link bundle might be a real goldmine :) Let's see if you were careful to take all those porn sites away ;) Quick calibration of monitor colors: http://www.easyrgb.com/index.php?X=KALI LCD monitor testing: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ Comparing monitors, projectors, printers, cameras etc. http://www.digitalversus.com/ -
DCS: Black Shark - Dev Updates - 09 July 2008
Fodder replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
So cool to have the multi-monitor/triplehead support as native :) And the GUI music change is perfect. Anything but the original LOMAC noise :P Also, may we please have the manual for a work and bedtime reading, it's summer after all so give us some love :D *grouphug* -
Oh wow! I knew there were all these Falcon pit nerds running around but I didn't know there was a community for chopper heads as well at hovercontrol :) Those collectives and cyclics look so good and the range of motion with a real cyclic seems something to dream about :) Me being a complete idiot when it comes to anything mechanical, I was wondering if there was any commercial products to even consider about? Or maybe an "idiots guide to cyclic building" type of videos :)

DCS: Black Shark - Dev Updates - 09 July 2008
Fodder replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Since Black Shark doesn't have any direct competition, they can develop this as long as they want :) Although the Lockon engine might start showing signs of aging if they delay for too long but there's almost 6 months left of this year so lets hope for the best :) -
There's also ViewSonic VX2640w 26" which is cheap as well, with 1920x1200 resolution. http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=6&ma1=41&mo1=381&p1=3541&ma2=35&mo2=189&p2=1815&ph=1 That's a comparison with VX2640w and L245WP-BN 24" (not TN panel) Just thought I'd buy me 2x L246WH-BN as I already have one. It's TN panel but it's pretty close to that 245 I guess. At least closest I could find, hence the comparison :P Anyway, the thing is now to decide whether to go with 3 of the same monitor type or 2 same and then buy a 26" in the middle. Whole day I have been going through different scenarios and more and more variables come across and now when I finally started looking at 40" LCDs I realise I must go to sleep :D

I'm hoping they come up with a version with 4xDVI connectors on the back so a 3 monitor setup with SoftTH could be done without a second card. I'm just guessing here that it might work but this card will be a candidate for my next GPU :) Determined to save money and get 4480x1200 or 5760x1200 resolution system running in december when BS will be released :cheer3nc:

That looks cute :) Can't find them anywhere though nor any reviews. Might it possible to do the same thing with touchbuddy and a second tiny screen? Though a couple of these would suffice since the small LCDs (7" and 8") are more expensive than buying a bigger screen (15" and 17") which would be too big for my desktop arrangement

I can't say if I suck at A2A or not because I never get that far. When the beeping comes I panic and eject :D I just finished watching the Su-25t training video from www.flankertraining.com and the plane doesn't feel so intimidating now. Actually the cockpit seems quite logical after all :P Would be good practice to learn to read the russian instruments and symbols as well. Might decrease the learning curve a bit for BS :) And more off topic: The turbine engines can't be over-revved right? Maybe I dive into the manual for a bit And a vote for no demo from here as well. We want to ride Jenna Jameson, not just look at her :joystick:

Oh I've never had any doubts about this game. I just thought that when someone else wanted to hear opinions from the community members and I did not know there were any other videos or player previews than the ones I had already seen so just thought I'd ask. What I was interested in was just that if some other chopper in a game had about the same feel as BS so I could pretend I was flying the Ka-50 without the weapons to satisfy me until the release of BS :P I just love to fly between the skyscrapers in FSX and the model feels good to me, but was curious of how it would be compared to BS. Not really sure if they even can be compared. The "not being scripted" feeling is good enough for me :) I'm sure this sim will live up to its hype and even if it for some weird reason wouldn't, it's still the only helicopter sim, that can be taken seriously, that has weapon systems in it :) At least in my head I've tried the Su-25t a little bit but since I'm not really a big fan of modern fixed wing aircraft, and the fact that I don't understand half of what is going on under the hood with all the beeping and radars and missiles and stuff, I haven't really learned to fly it. I do like the WW2 planes though because they're more simple to learn and I'm really just learning the basics of flight here :) I love the thought of not having a radar in the Ka-50 (or anything else useless :P) and going up and close with rockets and guns, just hovering above them with my evil laugh echoing in the cockpit when I make them dance to the beat of my 30mm rounds.. It's more personal that way  Imagine dropping a nuke and flying away without even seeing the carnage that follows. Where is the fun in that? That's why I dislike modern planes. Maybe this bit would have been written to the nuke poll or why choppers are more fun than jets and I need to get laid or something but enough rambling of random stuff, the point is in there somewhere. Over and out

Excellent video! Btw is that an Ah-64 profile I see at the upper right corner of the tv monitor at 4:50 to the video? It sure ain't that big helicopter he shoots on the ground :) We should have seen some evasive maneuvers and the wingman blown to pieces :P
-
Well maybe the people who have tested BS in the lowland tiger meet and wherever it has been displayed, might comment on how this sim feels. They're not under NDA I guess :) Maybe what the flight model feels like compared to Xplane or FSX or some other sim that has choppers etc.

The only reason he won was because Hamilton don't know the meaning of a red light. Räikkönen would have won for sure. But do celebrate my Polish friends because it was the one and only time you'll ever get a win since our boy Kimi will kick evereyone elses butt :D

Quote from the steelbeasts developer Ssnake: "It'll take us at least two more years to finish SB2 - at least one to resume work on it, then another to finish it - so don't expect it any time before Christmas 2009. And I can't guarantee that it'll be there by then, just that we cannot possibly make it happen any faster." So that was pretty much the reason why I stopped hesitating and waiting for the SB2 to come out and just bought the Pro PE. It really is worth the bucks. Although I haven't played it much yet because I found sturmovik and lockon takes all of my time now that I finally bought HOTAS and Trackir :D And there is some payable update coming as well this summer with a new IFV if I remember correctly. Pizzaro or pissaro or some spanish thingie. Waiting for the steelfury and the T-34 vs Tiger or something like that as welll. Too many sims to deal with :)

DCS: Black Shark Producer's Note #5 Available on You Tube
Fodder replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yeah and some more teasing :D "..turns into a standard cross which indicates a valid launch parameter" Oh, yeah! Finally he's gonna show that stryker who's the boss.. "and here's the windshield wiper for the Shkval" Noooo!:lol: -
So I just got my X52 Pro but I only want to use the throttle from the package with my Fighterstick and I was wondering if there was a way to use the X52 joystick without the throttle because it connects with the 6pin thingy. I want to give this joystick to my brother but he doesn't have a throttle so would it be possible to add a usb connector to the 6pin? Or when he finally buys a throttle himself, would it be possible to connect the joystick through that? And also what throttles might support this 6pin connector because I can't find any So if anyone could help me, Id appreciated it very much Thanks :)
