  4. Hi SteenosMT, I think the starting point is to find a schematic that outlines the minimum requirements of an RS485 network. To then create that using breadboard and components, and run test after test until it works and you are comfortable with it. When I started, my initial point of reference was the post below created by Hansolo. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=243611 His post is a great guide to creating this network. I would review this post and by all means combine it with my YouTube video. At 32 minutes I talk through the minimum setup. This covers an explanation of the distribution of power throughout the network. I also put some diagrams on my website based on what I did (link below) https://mysimpit.co.uk/front-dash/ When your tests progress from trying to get it to work without breaking it, to intentionally trying to see what will break it, you are likely ready to create that setup and implement into your simpit.   7. Hi Les, at the point where the wiring connects from the stepper into the easy driver board you could try swapping motor A and B round. I had to do this recently on gauges that ran anticlockwise as opposed to the more common clockwise. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk

  9. Hi BULLITT83, Sitting in between the arduino and 7 segment displays are four MAX7219 modules. A lot of the wiring wouldn't have been needed, but I used larger green 7 segment displays rather than those that came with the modules. I'd approach a little differently if did over again but it's worked well and I've been using it for some time now.   12. Hi Hans, I connected my 7 Segment displays through a MAX7219 board. It worked perfectly on my radio stack which was dcs bios straight to an Arduino uno. However, on my RS485 network, it would display the correct value initially and without even changing the frequency it would glitch slightly, and one of the digits would disappear or display an incorrect value. I can only think it was noise on my network. All the connections were good. Any ideas?   13. I built my RS485 network for the EMI panel and it seems to drive gauges without issue. I've also tested it with indicator lights, toggles and push buttons and they work fine also. However, I encountered problems with 7 Segment displays on a master / slave setup and haven't tried oleds with it yet. The 7 Segment displays would output the data needed but keep having little glitches. Over time I plan to look more closely at this and hopefully overcome, however, currently from a time perspective I plan to use the RS485 network for all the gauges (steppers and servos), and also the TISL and circuit breaker panels. However everything else through dcs bios would be on a standard setup straight to Arduino Megas. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had challenges with 7 Segment displays on a master / slave setup? Or do all components work for you? And if so, do you have a different approach to the wiring Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  14. Hi Les, I'd order new parts but keep playing with the ones you've got whilst you're waiting, to learn as much as possible. When I did my network I also tried to break parts of it to understand it more fully. I'd stick with the MAX487 chip rather than the other ones you mentioned. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
