  1. Good Job fellas, Very impressive as allways.
  2. As Shepski said. This thread can be boiled down to one thing. Is the ET missile UBER In Lock-On? My opinion and there are other top notch online players who fly all aircraft that agree with me is NO ET is not Uber. I'm pretty good in the F15, Su27, MiG29. I dont have a favourite although right now the MiG29S is not in my good books. But only because of its near impossiblility to see at close range. So I chose not to fly it. I dont see any real advantage in sniping it at 16km when you could fire it in EOS mode at 15km. A good pilot can fire ER's much earlier and F-Pole any incoming missile fired outside of 16km very successfully. So waiting to maddog your ET might get you a kill but you also (as demonstrated) might well die in the process trying to line up the target exactly as an ER homes in. You can also be sure that experienced pilots are flanking 30-40 degrees when you take aim and probably getting ready to reverse the tac as well. Any less experienced players that might be sniped with an ET inside or even outside that range would no doubt be just as dead with another more legitimate tactic. Sooner or later they will catch on anyway. So in summing it up I believe the "fad" of maddogging ET's will come and go in a very short amount of time. The disadvantages will in time far outweigh the small advantage.
  3. In lockon an ET can be Maddogged. I havent once gotten involved in Real Life Can and Cant's. I'm no where near qualified.
  4. I dont think anyone is debating anymore whether Maddogging an ET is possible or not. I think the point is whether it makes the missile any more dangerous than an AIM120 or an R77. Both of these missiles can also be maddogged and can fly further, faster. The ET seems to lose its effectiveness to lead pursuit a target after 15km (8m). Not very far. I bet if you start Madogging the AIM120 at 8 miles you will get better results. All be it risking friendly kills.
  5. Photo is 100% real. If you look closely you can see the smoke from the smoke pod coming out the rear. Here it is again...
  6. Matt Wagner's "Educated and informed personal opinion" which I, agree with is Whilst Ubi Shaft have IP rights to Lock-on which means the flyable models and the thaetre whithin which we are currently using, ED's hands are somewhat tied. It would seem to me that anything "New" like the Su25T, Advanced flight models and new areas of theatre do not belong to Ubi. These may "In the Fullness of time" be transferred into a new Simulator in a new theatre with new flyables (maybe an F16). Until we see a new theatre or boxed sim it is absolutlely pointless in asking for improvements on what is/was released with 1.02.
  7. I think you'll find the best F15 Pilots still prefer to look down and get better kill stats this way.
  8. Pilot I have found the track and it is here for observation. Your ET was fired at 16 km and from height while i was in high speed closure. I suspect that you would have had LA regardless. If not then only just out. It is also interesting to note that you were killed by my ER well before your ET hit me and you were running away. Pretty good track actually. I think I will keep this one. If I'd dropped a couple of flares I might have survived. That was my mistake. I assumed you'd turned tail b4 letting off an ET. A bad mistake at that.
  9. Kenan, I get the distinct impression your trying to cause trouble. That's up to you i guess. Pilot If its the engagement I think it is and I have the track and will check You fired your ER's which missed and I managed to hit you with mine whilst F-poling. We were within 10 km when your ET hit me. I made the mistake of assuming there were no more missiles heading me way. But that's how it is meant to be. Now the next enagement was a beauty. You were in a 33, I was in a 27. We fired at similar times and I F-poled your first volley and you turned tail. I went EOS and followed you over the water. You made the mistake of thinking you were clear and I fired 2 EOS ET's as you turned back... Bang Bang you be dead. As far as your maddogged ET, It was fired within the limits. wether it Madogged or not I would not know the difference if u are using EOS.
  10. Well this debate certainly went downhill whilst I was sleeping. If people dont cheat then whatever tactics they use to get a kill or to survive should be respected. Barking that someones tactics are cheap or lame imo makes the barker cheap or lame. If stratistics boards make people more careful with a virtual multi million Dollar jet and a life then Whats wrong with that? We are after trying to simulate the Real thing. How can we be so pedantic about physics and such but if pilots try to fly like real we complain? Strange. Mark, Your comment surprised me a little yesterday and after our flight together I thought you may have changed your mind. What was your score after an hour? 6 kills 2 losses in a Su-27? On a statistics server too :-) No one really expects missiles in this sim to be perfect but everyone has the oportunity to use whichever aircraft or loadout they want and make the most of it. I'm yet to be taken out by a uber ET and people seem to be maddogging AIM120's and R77's alot less since 1.11. Pilot without a doubt the best opponent I can find in a F15. But frankly your tactics in the 33 have or any other Russian bird have a long way to go. I record All my tracks and have so for quite some time. I often play them back and study my mistakes and I am yet to see a long range ET shot successfully take me out let alone actually lock me. In my experiments last night I could only make it lock because I knew where the ai was going. By the time the ET go to Seeking range it was so slow it had no chance of hitting the target. The AIM 120's however still required a very clever maneuver to safely get around. ET's are still the second choice. In a fresh 1 v 1 enagement the bandit will fire ER's or 77's and then ET's if he gets the chance. If the oponent doesnt spot the ET Platform lining up a shot at 8500 meters 40km away then he deserves to be hit IMO.
  11. F15C, Su27, Su33, MiG29S/A/G
  12. All missiles have advantages and Disadvantages. ET is a good missile if manage to get aound the oponents longer range missiles to use it effectively. Firing Madogged ET's at longer ranges of 15km will have a very poor hit ratio at best. AIM 120's fired in the same manner are going to hit targets more often.
  13. Watch this.. Then tell me the ET is more dangerous Uber-AIM-120-Ice
  14. I dont see myself wanting to change tactics.
  15. The AIM 120 at those ranges will still be doing 1500-2000km an hour and be a difficult object to avoid. The ET has to be perctly aimd like a bullet to see something and when it does its going so slowly it would have to be a very lucky shot indeed. What you are demonstrating here is prbably exactly what an ET would do in real life. It will without the assistance of the LAunch pad seek a target if it appears withinits gimble limits.
  16. Found target but had no energy to kill it. Your track showed the same results. Started tracking at about 1000kph going downhill and got no where near hitting the aircraft(s)
  17. Ok After some extensive testing Ive managed to make the ET track the target. BUT I had to be very good at predicting where the target was going to be and when it did start to track it was going less that 1000 km an hour and as soon as it started to turn lost so much energy it was no threat at all. It might hit a drone but the missile has LA is based on how much kinetic energy it will have to make it effective and this seems to be correct. ET is an effective weapon but only at ranges of 15 km or less. What you are suggesting is no different to a maddogged AIM120 which I suggest is a whole lot more dangerous than a Maddogged ET. And both run the risk of hitting a friendly target.
  18. I cant fire till LA is displayed. there's nothing for me that will change that. If LA does not come up on its own And I instead use LAunch Override, The missile will not track the target. It just flies straight.
  19. Try it again without using your macro
  20. i dont use x52, it seems it must fool the sim. ET should not track the target. That's how its meant to be. If your can then you have an unfair advantage over other players. But it sounds like we have isolated the problem.
  21. There is definitely something very wrong. In your track you fire the ET without a LA even in the HUD!?!?. I cannot do this at all. I HAVE to use Launch Override" to even get it off the rails. When it is released it doesnt track. Only flies straight. I suspect others that do the this test are going to have the same result as me.
  22. If your ET's do track then I suspect there is something is wrong with your installation.
  23. According to my test it is still the case. Launch Override and firing and ET missiles will not track the target. It MUST give LA automatically before it will track. Semi Actives however will track at any distance as does a AIM120 or an AIM7. The effective range of an ER is a bit further. But it takes a real skill to maintain lock and avoid a flood of incoming AIM120's or R77's.
  24. If what you say is true then something else has changed. It used to be that the ET would not track at all unless you had "LA" without overriding.
  25. MiG29S Is the most lethal Aircraft for Online Dogfighting when All Weapons are available. That's that :) No Offense but If someone doesnt fly all aircraft equally they cannot have an "Informed" opinion. I'm trying real hard to give the MiG29S a run for its money flying the Su27 but I still cant do any better than 2 or maybe 3 kills for every loss (Average). Give me MiG29 and its not unusual to get 10 kills or more with no loss. 169th Rastus currently has 30 kills in the Mig29 on the dedicated with No losses. He will also be the first to tell you that there is NO WAY he could get that kind of kill ratio in any other ac. Mustang today/tonight has taken out about 15 Su27's or F15's in a row without a loss. Now When someone joins the 169th Dedicated with real opposition and gets scores like that flying another aircraft and against the MiG29S, I'll change my tune.
