  1. I think we can all agree that this problem has been dealt with very poorly.

I am very disappointed that there seems to be a lack of understanding of the implications to the multiplayer community.

I am also very disappointed that requests for classification bug to be fixed have been ignored.

I will put up with the problem(s) and am confident something will be done in upcoming patches or addons.

  2. :Ice, now that you've told everyone exactly how to declass a mission, you might expect some more cheaters to show up ... some things are better left unsaid - believe it or not, not a huge load of people knew about this.

Not that I don't understand your frustration, I'm with you on this one as it's a very annoying thing.

I left it unsaid expecting the problem to be fixed for 2 patches. It seemed the devs didnt hear the quiet messages.

My reasoning is it needs to be LOUDER

  3. My understanding is that if i classify my mission I've stopped the load editing guys from coming in with missiles that arent realistic. EG. aim 54's on su33's etc.

Before 1.1 this was a common occurence. since 1.1, I dont recall a single case.

The other valid problem is hosting limited loads like heaters only or guns. Having noobs or vandals coming in with the wrong load can wreck a really good fun session.

  4. Ok, I'm serious here. If you find somebody shootin you down in Hyperlobby or somewhere else 20 times in a row, just don't play with them anymore.

If somebody wants to cheat, there will always be a crack or mod to allow him. You can't prevent that, only select your counterparts carfully.

    Just my 2 cents (Euro-Cents)

And what about when you pay $100US a month plus hardware to host a public server?

  5. So what? I remember the cheating back in the F/A-18 days when one could fire bullets

with the damage/impact of missiles and i can remember the early days of Lomac

when pilots loaded Aim-54's or joined a server on a second connection to spoil

    the game to their advantage.

Maybe ED can start to fix the warping I'll see when i fire a missile at a bandit ...

I also remember what happened to janes F18 online. Do you?

  6. Anyone can edit the mission thats been classified.

Its very simple. Instead of clicking on the "classify" mission option which is greyed out use the hot key combination "CTRL-SHF-C" then add your own password. Or better still make the password blank. Save the mission re-open it. Voila! Unclassified mission or classified mission with the password you assigned.

So the single player could still do this even if we go back to 1.1 in the campaign.

So it seems to me that no problem is solved. No ones the happier. Only one BIG problem for online mission makers and Those that spend alot of time and money trying to host quality online sessions.

Also not tested in 1.11 but in 1.02 anyone with an F16 Mod (Mig29 with US Fuel tank and missiles) could join a server take off, dump fuel tank and instantly crash the server. Classifying loads fixed this problem. Easy to say who would do that? But believe me it happened.

  7. One feature that was REAL HANDY was being able to classify a mission. Main reason was so people wouldn't load up 8 x AIM120's all the time and made a game of it by having to use weapons like AIM7's or AIM9's. Or if you wanted a mission with limited weapons like guns or heaters only. Noobs or asshats couldnt change the load and ruin the game for everyone else. We only need to think back to remember what a nightmare that was. Well unfortunatley with the new patch this feature has been removed. Classified missions will now once again allow you to change to any load.

Another reason that classified missions were good was it stopped players from using modded loads and aircraft like the AIM54 on SU33's or 27AE's. It looks like these problems will arise once again :-(

The other disappointment with classifying is that it's still possible to declassify any mission even if you dont know the original password. I don't know how many times this problem has been pointed out to the devs but no one wants to do anything about it!?!? Crazy imo.

Both problems seem like very simple 5 minute jobs that would make a huge difference to quality of gameplay for the online community.

  8. I also think the dude is in the majority when he says he dislikes starforce, as i have yet to see any sane person say that they like it on there pc.

I must be insane. I like Starforce on my system because I know it is helping Eagle Dynamics get their hard earned. Which in turn means I get more patches and ADDONS

  9. Downloaded install LoMan 5.

As we all know the high resolution skins placed in temptexture folder can have detramental effects on game performance. Here is how I've been installing the skins.

Firstly. Before we start make a backup copy of you Lockon Game. Copy the whole game into a new folder and call it "Lock On - Original".

Uninstall loman 4 and download / install the new Modman. When installing, install all the extra files for lockon when it asks.

Download 1 or all of the following skins.

    Su27-Shark

    F15C-Grey

    169-F15C-BLUE

Once they are downloaded unzip them to the DESKTOP. Not to temptextures.

For this example we will use the SHARK-SU27 Skin.

    1. Open the CDDS Browser in ModMan and set CDDS File path to "..\Lock On\Bazar\World\worldtexturesbmp2.cdds.

    2. Set the Export/Import path to the "temptextures" folder which contains your new skin. eg. "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\SHARK-SU27".

    3. In Modman scroll down to index line 125. "SU-27-SKIN-L-05.BMP. Notice it is the same size as the bmp file. 2048x2048.

    4. Now press the "Insert" Button. a new window will pop up. Change the input file format to "BMP" and press insert. The first time you do this it will want to create a "safe" folder. So create a new folder and call it "CDDS-Safe". It will then say "Safe copy done as..."

Press "Quit" down the bottom right and you should see the new skin in the view window on the left. Do the same for "SU-27-SKIN-L-05.BMP".

That's it! Your done. We have now replaced the original skin with the new skin and it will have no detrimental effect on game performance.

For the F15 skins it's exactly the same except the CDDS files are different. The f15's are in "WorldTexturesBMP.cdds"

WARNING! The F-15-PAINT-R-DEF-2.BMP and "F-15-PAINT-R-DEF-3.BMP files go to "WorldTexturesBMP2.cdds" files.

Why they are seperated I do not know.

The Fuel tank "PTB-64x32.bmp" goes into "WorldTexturesBMP1.cdds"

  10. Downloaded and installed LoMan 5 Today. You can get it here if you wish.

Anyway. Im trying to use the install in CDDS feature to its full potential.

If someone can check my proceedure and see if maybe im doing something wrong.

    1. Create the skin to the same resolution in the "World texture" format. for example su-27 05 L is in bmp format.

    2. Rename the Bmp file to "SU-27-SKIN-L-05-2048x2048.bmp"

    3. Open the CDDS Browser in ModMan and set CDDS File path to "..\Lock On\Bazar\World\worldtexturesbmp2.cdds

    4. Set the Export/Import path to the "temptextures" folder which contains your new skin.

    5. Then Extract the same skin from the cdds folder into a temporary Folder lets say "textures-DDS" in "DDS" format.

    5. Then Rename the New "SU-27-SKIN-L-05-2048x2048.dds" to "SU-27-SKIN-L-05.bmp.dds"

    6. Close ModMan CDDS Browser and open ModMAn Addon Maker

7.Create New Package and browse to the "SU-27-SKIN-L-05.bmp.dds" file.

    8. Add to package and add information screenshot etc.

    9. Keep ticked the When possible compress textures to DDS format and create your RAR or Zip file.

Now having done all this, reinstalling an original World textures folder I have backed up. When I install this newly created Addon the DDS files are recreated once again to Bmp files but of a poorer quality of the originals and still same size in magabytes. So in other words they go from a 2mb file to a 12 mb file which is exactly what I dont want. Ive looked at other Addons and they do the same thing. The World CDDS Files are unchanged. What if anything am I doing wrong?

  11. There's a couple if things id like to improve on. The Angel emblem is not very clear and if anyone knows of a high resolution image of it that would be great. also i cannot find any high detail images of the engine cowlings on the top. Once again if anyone knows of any id really appreciate it.
