  1. Is the F-16 worth buying right now? If you´re a hot shot test pilot, who likes to try out the newest stuff and be a part of the development, then YES. If you´re a combat pilot who need something that reliably kills your opponent in hostile skies or at Red Flag, then NO. I think the F-16, as it is now in Early Access is to compare with a bare bones prototype aircraft early in the test program. It flies, but is not ready for war. The Hornet on the other hand, while still in Early Access, is like an operational fighter that is quite capable, but not yet at its full potential. Even in the real world capabilities are added to an aircraft through out its service life. Stuff that was meant to be included from the start might take a few years to be completed due to various reasons. Viggen aficionados like to point out that the JA 37D was in many ways more capable than the JAS 39A Gripen that was supposed to replace it.
  2. If you want a challenge, try Pahute Mesa. Took a few tries and a light aircraft. But then I am not a skilled Viper driver. :-D
  3. How does the detents on the Viper and Hornet work? I´ve never tried any of their cockpits, but the Gripen, and the Viggen throttles responds with a loud "chunk" when forced in to after burner.
  4. It would be nice if ED added the sound of the detent being passed, just like on HB´s Viggen, so we who do not have a physical detent on our throttles get a distinkt aural feedback. It is of course no indication of the AB actually being lit, but at least a confirmation of throttle position.
  5. Could be used for scenarios where civilian air or marine traffic is present, in a not-at-war high tension scenario. Also, AI/Map objects of said airliners and marine traffic.
  6. Turkish and Polish 50 jets also have them. Don´t know which block the turkish ones I´ve seen deploying chute is, but Poland only has block 52 afaik. They are both F-16C anyway
  7. The only real simulators I have flown are C-130 Hercules and JAS 39C and E Gripen, and the latter two did absolutely not behave like the former when the gears were out , neither did the DCS Viper. Actually, to be honest, I didn´t notice any difference even though I knew there should be one. But I only popped out the gear when I was on finals when I flew yesterday, so I never had to do any violent turns. So I can´t really say if you´re wrong or right.
  8. I am sure a real Viper expert will correct me on this, but I believe the FCS has a landing-mode when the gears are out, which makes it less sensitive and more "airliner-like".
