I am trying to do this "Ramp Start and Navigation" mission that includes engines start, taxing to runway, take off and then following like 17 waypoints and landing on a different airport. Problem I have with this mission is after I reach waypoint 1, display changes to waypoint 2 and then I try to reach it same as I did with one, but aircraft seems to be flying away from it (distance to it increases) instead of approaching it. Also, there is a moment that I cannot continue the route since it takes me to a wall of mountains and I just would crash if I follow it. My question is why after flying successfully to wp #1 I am unable to reach wp #2? I am missing something or doing something wrong? Thanks in advance!

Snacko, have you tried to "invert" them on axis tune?
-
Sorry if this is too evident but are you applying throttle?

Thanks Buzzles!

Thanks Buzzles, if you could share how you do I will appreciate it.

I read a lot about brakes, Brit Brakes, Joe brakes, Rudder Pedals. I only have a thustmaster -T X flighstick. It is a device with rudder in it, also slider thrust, and I have programmed one of the buttons as wheel brakes (W). Just wondering if with this simple setup its possible to taxi the Spit accurately since it just escapes me. If I use rudder only, the tail wheel gets stuck to the first turn I make. If I try to steer with brakes plus rudder its just about the same. So please tell me if Its possible to taxi the spit correctly without the use of rudder pedals or toe brakes. Thanks. :helpsmilie:

How to get properly aligned for landing?
artmustel replied to artmustel's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Captain Orso, that is a great idea, I wish they implemented it to help new players like me. I like this simulation a lot. I don't want to use game "helps" because I've read they are not very effective. I do not want something so simplistic like other flight simulators but this game lacks proper instructions. The training missions are a joke (just fail on one small thing and lesson is over without telling you what was wrong). After receiving help from this forum I've managed to take off and land the TF-51/P-51D. It is really a great thing to have fellows here always ready to help, but the way they can help is limited. Alas, some things are terrible. The Spitfire is a beautiful aircraft but come on, taxiing it is a PITA, like someone else said here. Some say it is due to it being a Beta model, maybe is that the reason. Also, I can "take off" on it (ugly to see but at least I can fly it) but landing it? Not even once! Sometimes I don't feel like asking people here for more help because I feel they have done all they can to help me. I doubt the real Spitfire is harder to taxi than this rendering of it... I accept I am a newbe to flying airplanes but I am not a newbe in general pc and console gaming. I am not spring chicken but I have good reflexes (still). Then, why this DCS is making me to feel heavy frustrated? I need to blame it to a very poor didactic planning. I wonder how many like me have felt the way I feel now regarding DCS Worlds, until they have to abandon this simulation. I don't want to and I would like to see some things improved here. Sorry for this rant fellas. -
How to get properly aligned for landing?

Can feel your pain lol but we just need more practice and we'll get there. Sometimes I think I need a virtual flight instructor (why don't they implement that?) someone that tells us what to do in the exact moment we are doing it wrong. I've managed to land decently the P-51 a very few times but I am not happy with that, every take off and landing must be a success, otherwise we have not accomplished too much. And the Spitfire...:music_whistling:....I just can take it off but not in an elegant fashion. Taxiing and landing it are nightmares to me. But that is good, it keeps us interested, if it were too easy it would be boring! -
Why thi happens to my aircrafts?
artmustel replied to artmustel's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Thanks razo+r and Art-J. This happens on every mission that starts on air, I just wanted to show it to see if you ppl were able to help. I have the "Synchronize controls with hotas controls" checked, so that is not. Now Art-J, if this is a common issue at the missions start, then I guess nothing can be done to fix it. Thanks for advising that mission starts too close to runway, it originally starts way more far from it but I've been shortening it so I can do more crashes for minute :pilotfly: Thanks!! -
Why thi happens to my aircrafts?
artmustel replied to artmustel's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I did razo+R but it shows the flight stick well centered all the time, I am pretty sure it is not the flight stick since once you gain control it works fine but it is a burden to have that always that I start a mission. It doesn't look normal to me, that is why I am asking here. -
Please look at the very short .trk I've included. I wonder if this jittering or jerking is normal, as soon as I start any mission with the plane on flight. And this happens same with the Spit, the P-51D or the jets. Is this supposed to happen when you start a flying mission or is it something wrong with my setup? Thanks in advance. why.trk

Hi folks. I've been here in DCS or a month or so. The other day I found a very old set of rudder pedals at a local thrift store, they are Thrustmaster Elite. Well they are not usb but I had at home a gameport to usb adapter from Radio Shack. It worked great, and the pedals worked fine too however they don't have a spring tension knob or anything and they were hard to move because the strong springs, so I opened bottom and disengaged both springs (there is one for each feet). Now it works very smoothly but of course pedals won't come back to center, I have to do it with my feet. Now my question...how are real life aircraft rudder pedals, are they self centering? (lol i started playing here totally clueless). Also, should I leave it without springs, or would it be a better idea to find some "softer" springs and install them? The original ones are really hard to move and they make a lot of noise. Is self centering an absolute need or t is possible to go without it?

Amazing system! thanks to all that responded.
-
Yes I can rotate the knob and turn it back to 0 but how would that help me on the middle of a mission without knowing at what altitude i am? :helpsmilie:
-
Then it cannot be changed?
-
Hello. This is something that must be a very basic and simple matter but It is bothering me a lot. In several missions, mainly landing missions (same for the P-51 and the Spitfire) the altimeter is not showing altitude with respect to ground, but a very higher one. even if I manage to land more or less correctly, I look at the altimeter and it shows over 1000 feet altitude. Now, on the takeoff missions, altimeter shows 0 as I am still on the runway. Why this happens, what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hehe, a real pilot, and I was suggesting you to master the TF-51! :music_whistling: You will love the Spit, James. It is awesome.
-
Hi James. I am pretty new to DCS as well, and i can tell you you'll find a lot of enthusiast help from many DCS pilots on this forum! I would suggest that you ask more specifically what kind of help you need and you will have a lot of excellent advice. Now, you are asking somewhat about the Spit. I would say if you are like I am (absolute newbe to planes) you better get some experience with the included free planes, specially the TF-51. I purchased the Spit some weeks go when it went on sale at half price, and i did just because the offer. At this point I am still struggling with the TF-51/P-51D, and it is much much easier than the Spit. So the spit is in its hangar, just waiting for me to become a better pilot. To make this shorter, if you already mastered the TF-51D, go for the Spit. If not, get a good grip of the Mustang then go for the Spit (unless the spit goes again on sale). Of course, if for whatever reasons all you care is for the Spitfire, go for it, and people here will be glad helping you with it. Good luck, and welcome!

How to get properly aligned for landing?
artmustel replied to artmustel's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Great sug Blech, I didn't know there was such a view to the left and right like those, they are great for taxiing. I also added another modifier to the hat and now I use it also for trimming. 3 hats in one, wow! Thanks :pilotfly: -

I checked all the settings as you suggested above, they are exactly like you wrote. Hehe, here is a new attempt at the mission you sent me, I feel this time its better (at least I survived it ) BlechMiz_2.trk Thank you so much, man... -

Yes Blech, I tried it as soon as you told me so, but still it does the same. The track and miz you sent me are just what I needed, I am pretty sure that with your help I will get this right. Thank you a bunch! I just tried your miz...results are far from good but I know I am "on track" now BlechMiz.trk -
How to get properly aligned for landing?
artmustel replied to artmustel's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Hi Blech and thanks for the files you posted, I will study them. Now a question about something I need to have clear before trying anything else: is it normal that, at the starting of any flying mission, or the Lochini one, the plane jerks around before I touch the controls? Also is it normal that on every flying mission plane is diving at start and I need an absurd amount of trimming? I just want to make sure that there isn't actually something in my setup that is making it more difficult than it is already  Thanks! -
FPS...where do I see that?

Hi all and sorry for such a basic question but how can I see my in game fps? Thanks.
