  1. Is the draw distance of the NAVFLIR a DCS limitation or is there a setting to increase it? I made a quick video showing how the NAVFLIR seems show to significantly shorter draw distance than with NVG's or the naked eye.

You can see that with NAVFLIR enabled, the mountains disappear because they havent been drawn in yet.

  2. Is there a way to copy the edited files over from the open beta install into the open alpha install to have the new changes? I can easily edit the FM file for the increased gear stiffness, but was curious about the hud/mpcd fixes. Is it as simple as copying over the new masks and files?

  3. I believe there will have to be some form of scripted degradation, I doubt anyone would be able to accurately simulate tolerances and variances in each turbine. I mean ED has a hard enough time with the regular damage model, let alone jet engine thermal wear and tear.

Zeus has stated they are working with a Harrier pilot, so hopefully they get it as close as possible.

  4. Try as much as I can' date=' this doesn't seem to work, unfortunately the one vid showing the method that I can find fast forwards past a bit where it looks like some systems are used.[/quote']

I got it to work last night. Use sensor select down to select DMT. Select the OSB next to the word “code”. Check the UFC display for laser code, make sure it matches the laser code of the designator. Default is 1111 I believe. Correct if necessary. Sensor select down again, should see an X around the flight path indicator, and LST on the HUD. Fly the plane to point at the general area of the laser mark, and it will acquire it and switch to DMT automatically. It works, but it has a pretty narrow search area. I basically had to point right at the target.

  5. As tester's we can not always answer questions due to NDA. If a streamer with a preview build gets time to try that is great.

I will say during testing I have landed, rearmed and refuelled at a FARP, and then left the FARP with a short take off.

Hope that partially answers your query.

I can appreciate how the original poster is frustrated considering the simple nature of his question, but nobody can answer straight forward. Either rolling on grass will destroy the landing gear like other modules, or it wont. Either way we will find out in Two More Weeks.

  6. Here you get a preview of the AV-8B N/A engine sounds:

They are still WiP and not finished yet.

Thanks boss, the whine sounds great. Looking forward to flying this Day 1.

  7. Just a heads-up. ED is working on the sounder. We expect that AV-8B NA's specific engine sounds to be available by next week.

Think you can throw us a bone? Pre-ordered already!

  8. Should allow a free trial. Might convince me to buy the Mi-8, other aircraft I’m not really interested in. Would only increase sales. Or maybe a free weekend would be cool for new modules. I don’t understand the argument that it would somehow lower sales. This suggests that the developer would basically be tricking you into buying a bad module.

  9. The aircraft's specific sounder is still being developed by ED.

Did the Military Sounds Studio deal end up not working out?

I know you guys posted on facebook over the summer that you were working together, just curious how that panned out.

I'd buy it with stock sounds BTW. Need a new module to mess around in.

  10. This is a mis-characterization of the SU-27 and to Russian engineering. Which is pretty impressive and far from poor.

Its a matter of attitude. Russians think from a war time perspective which states stuff will get shot out of the sky and design accordingly. Cheap where they can afford it to be and expensive where it must be and easily replaceable under war time conditions is not a poor design choice nor poor engineering.

You are reinforcing my point. They poorly engineer things because they know it will get shot down anyway. F15C is engineered to kick A$$. Check its record. 102-0.

  11. FYI, Roland's just done some updates to the bug tracker and resolved 6 issues, so they're still doing work on it.

so they updated the mig 21? I didnt see the patch notes.

  12. melodrama everywhere you look these days.

And if you look around the forum, nobody is really making big updates right now. I think they are just waiting for things to calm down (2.5?). I'd say the majority of modules, including ED modules, are experiencing at the very least cosmetic issues with the new deferred shading. Just not a good time to be expecting major updates. The latest change log had more manual language fixes than FM adjustments.

  13. Hey.

Must be something I'm doing wrong...

I have my settings at the VR preset and pixel density of only 1.5 and I'm regularly down below 25 fps with lots of chop. When I look at the sky I go up to 90, look down at the ground and suddenly its down to steady 45, or even lower. What am I doing wrong? If I look at another asset, it's even worse - in this case a hornet

    Processor is an i7 3770k.

ASW - on or off doesn't seem to matter.

Not sure what else it could be...?

You are bottlenecking somewhere besides the GPU. Most likely the CPU.
