  1. Hi Guys,

Agree with konovalov. I was kind of suspicious of that and I removed the Kraken carefully and both cooler and cpu had thermal paste well spread on it. So it was weird...

Anyway, with Artic Sylver 5 it solved with that nice temp drop. I had problems with CH fighterstick, CH pro throttle and Ch Pro pedals to configure for DCS. I am used to use it in mapped mode (one button may represent several keys or joy button...) and the program that does it, CH Control Manager, is pretty incompatible with windows 10.

In the end I opted to use the joys in direct mode anyway. Today was the first day I really flew with the F-5 in both 1.5.6 and 2.1 (Nevada). I got pretty decent fps (around 60-140) with most of the stuff maxxed out.

I also installed and tested the gamtrix jetseat. Pretty nice immersion effect as well. Loved it.

Tomorrow it will be time to try to OC it. I got some good guidelines and will go for it.

    I will let you know.

    All the best,

    Sydy

I would highly recommend putting an overclock on your CPU. Running it at 4.2 is like putting around in a ferrari. In games like DCS, single core speed is king, so let that bad boy loose and see the improvement.

I'm running a i5-6600k at 4.3, which is an extremely tame OC, mainly because its air cooled and in a mini-ITX case. You will be impressed at the noticeable improvement with a stable OC.

Your system is badass, and I hope you enjoy it.

  2. F-14....or is that just my wishful thinking. :music_whistling:

Not fussed about the other two aircraft types. They both look like great projects, but neither aircraft has ever appealed to me in the least.

No doubt F14 is on my day one list. Hopefully multi crew will be available on release. I think it will be a blast to play with buddies online.

  3. RAZBAM has stated that the Harrier should arrive in Q3... so unless the Hornet is out of the door in two weeks™ after the E3, the Harrier will be no.1 on this race.

I agree with you, but 2.5 and the Hornet were supposedly coming out before end of 2016. Harrier does seem on track though for a July/August/September release though.

  4. Is there an SME involved in this module or is it all second hand information? The reason I ask is there is a guy over on mudspike who is a retired Marine Harrier pilot. Might be worth getting his input if you don't already have a guy like that to lean on.

  5. My tests for an unrelated thing were showing me some confusion with the preload radius and view distance testing did return some to me weird results, I got some unexpected results with some options.

One thing is LOD, the other is how much it's "preloaded" (in DCS currently this means how much big the allocation radius is around the aircraft) and the last thing is the visibility range which is just the radius at which things are rendered in, outside of that visibility radious things are only hidden, but ofcourse the if both of the radiuses are the same then it would unload the data when things get outside of render radius. In practise you don't want to necessairly unload things as soon as they leave rendering radius (view distance) because of the nature of gameplay if there's a lot of returning to the same area in short period of time, you may be circling or in a dogfight.

I think, for other reaons, but also this one, this loading/asset allocation/view should be all revamped to better separate between these things and offer users fine tune control for visiblity, preload and LOD settings for various groups of assets.

That would require too much work. Download a mod instead.
