any harrier sightings?
-
Yes the trigger fires the A-A ordnance.
Reminds of a great movie scene. "If you gotta ask, you cant afford it"
-
Do they have normandy loaded up on a different machine? If there is going to be a carrier landing, it would have to be on that map I would think.
-
Yeah, only women there now are probably better virtual pilots than most of us :D
Definitely better than the guy in the Thunderbird live stream. "does the trigger shoot the missle?"
-
I'm sorry, how long has it been since You've seen an E3 Booth?
Booth Chicks? Seriously?
Is this not a reputable profession anymore? This is an egregious attack on equality in gaming.
-
I thought they were going to be able to attempt carrier landings? Or am I imagining someone said that?
I want to see some booth chicks slam into the back of the carrier/tower/drink.

Now it is time to search the holy gral of my 3600Mhz Vengeance! :detective:
I will try your settings...
I will let you know.
Those are really good temps. I think as long as you stay under 85-90c your golden. Throttling happens at 100c I believe. In my tiny case, my CPU stays around 72c after an hour or so of DCS.
-
Hi Guys,
Agree with konovalov. I was kind of suspicious of that and I removed the Kraken carefully and both cooler and cpu had thermal paste well spread on it. So it was weird...
Anyway, with Artic Sylver 5 it solved with that nice temp drop. I had problems with CH fighterstick, CH pro throttle and Ch Pro pedals to configure for DCS. I am used to use it in mapped mode (one button may represent several keys or joy button...) and the program that does it, CH Control Manager, is pretty incompatible with windows 10.
In the end I opted to use the joys in direct mode anyway. Today was the first day I really flew with the F-5 in both 1.5.6 and 2.1 (Nevada). I got pretty decent fps (around 60-140) with most of the stuff maxxed out.
I also installed and tested the gamtrix jetseat. Pretty nice immersion effect as well. Loved it.
Tomorrow it will be time to try to OC it. I got some good guidelines and will go for it.
I will let you know.
All the best,
Sydy
I would highly recommend putting an overclock on your CPU. Running it at 4.2 is like putting around in a ferrari. In games like DCS, single core speed is king, so let that bad boy loose and see the improvement.
I'm running a i5-6600k at 4.3, which is an extremely tame OC, mainly because its air cooled and in a mini-ITX case. You will be impressed at the noticeable improvement with a stable OC.
Your system is badass, and I hope you enjoy it.

Cobra just said that they hope and plan to release the F-14 at the end of this year: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3163713&postcount=172 (german)
So, I guess the Harrier will be first, followed by the F/A-18.
So Mid 2018 for F-14?
-
The F-14 is stable and works well on the carrier.
That's good to hear, unfortunately I'm from Missouri. :book:
-
Is the interaction of the F-14 and the ships deck on Heatblurs to-do list or this an ED problem? IMO the physics for airplanes landing or parked on a moving ship are awful at the current moment.
-
Guys this is probably the least of anyones concerns, but consider immersion wrecked when the game voice over pronounces Lima as Lime-a. It's pronounced Leema. That is all.
-
I just meant which one will be flyable first. I fully expect all 3 to stay in an early access state for at least a year.
-
Need Mr. Wagner to go ahead and vote on this thing to put it to bed...
-
Folks, we have our 1st hand sources for the AV-8B NA. Don't worry.
Fair enough, just thought you might appreciate some real world operator input.
-
F-14....or is that just my wishful thinking. :music_whistling:
Not fussed about the other two aircraft types. They both look like great projects, but neither aircraft has ever appealed to me in the least.
No doubt F14 is on my day one list. Hopefully multi crew will be available on release. I think it will be a blast to play with buddies online.

RAZBAM has stated that the Harrier should arrive in Q3... so unless the Hornet is out of the door in two weeks™ after the E3, the Harrier will be no.1 on this race.
I agree with you, but 2.5 and the Hornet were supposedly coming out before end of 2016. Harrier does seem on track though for a July/August/September release though.
-
I went Harrier. Seems to be the most complete out of the 3.
-
Title says it all. In the last year, the following modules were released:
F5 July
Spitfire December?
Viggen January
It's about time for a new plane. Which do y'all think will come first?
-
Is there an SME involved in this module or is it all second hand information? The reason I ask is there is a guy over on mudspike who is a retired Marine Harrier pilot. Might be worth getting his input if you don't already have a guy like that to lean on.

Anyone else get these weird shadows/texture pop in when you turn off DS?
-
Good shots showing that green dot in the middle of the HUD now when using DS! :(
yeah noticed this on the F15 now. Lots of little (some not so little) issues popped up with 2.1.

My tests for an unrelated thing were showing me some confusion with the preload radius and view distance testing did return some to me weird results, I got some unexpected results with some options.
One thing is LOD, the other is how much it's "preloaded" (in DCS currently this means how much big the allocation radius is around the aircraft) and the last thing is the visibility range which is just the radius at which things are rendered in, outside of that visibility radious things are only hidden, but ofcourse the if both of the radiuses are the same then it would unload the data when things get outside of render radius. In practise you don't want to necessairly unload things as soon as they leave rendering radius (view distance) because of the nature of gameplay if there's a lot of returning to the same area in short period of time, you may be circling or in a dogfight.
I think, for other reaons, but also this one, this loading/asset allocation/view should be all revamped to better separate between these things and offer users fine tune control for visiblity, preload and LOD settings for various groups of assets.
That would require too much work. Download a mod instead.

Probably going to be a while before this stuff is ironed out. im just flying open beta.

They also only let in a limited amount of general public attendees. I think this year is one of the first years that "regular" people have been able to buy tickets.
