  1. How many guys flying the DCS aircraft are former military, not necessarily only planes, but us grunts, too?

How many guys have real life combat experience?

Of the combat vets, does playing combat sims ever trigger flashbacks at times?

I've met a couple guys on the forums that are/were aviators, but they are few and far between. I am a combat veteran myself, ground side. DCS has never caused me any issues, ARMA has given me minor anxiety symptoms at random times. There are PTSD treatment techniques that involve simulating combat, but I have never seen them. I think there is still a lot of research and testing to be done to prove their effectiveness. None of my combat vet friends play ARMA or DCS, mainly because they aren't into PC gaming.

  2. I don't think anybody is debating that tanks should die from splash, the problem is that even completely unarmoured vehicles need a near direct hit to be destroyed.

And let's not even get into how poor clusterbombs perform.

It's something that will hopefully be addressed at some point, but I never heard anything official on it.

Fragmentation needs to be modeled for other purposes also (flak). I would also argue trying to kill a tank with a weapon lacking some form of explosively formed or kinetic penetrator is an excercise in futility. Especially considering there is no mobility kill modeled in DCS.

  3. god forbid devs prioritize development.

Not sure what you mean here, but the change logs haven't been updated since May for 1.5/2.1. Is there another module they have going? That would be great.

  4. Just updated Open Beta branch, now have 11 servers showing with 8 people in them. I'm assuming the 1.5.7 branch is no longer compatible with steam or the release version?

  5. They've just done a flurry of updates on their bug tracker, so they're very much still alive.

Last update may 12 for 1.5 and may 28 for 2.1. Bug tracker doesn't pull up on my phone, I'll have to check it out later.

  6. Actually, yes if you integrate them on you MODs. Not sure if the "assign" by LUA a external ED / 3rd party can be a violation of terms of service.

I think you're wrong here, chief. The mods don't distribute any release files. They just MOD your already purchased flaming cliffs dlls. If you don't own the f-15, the f-18 mod wouldn't work. And some of these mods have been available for years on the DCS website. Surely they would do something if people were using their own domain to pirate software.

  7. Another reason why there should be terrain mods allowed. Any decent modder could knock this out of the park. Worried about map sales? Attach the mod kit to a map so you have to purchase the map to have it modded. Similar to how modders have made the f18 flyable with the flaming cliffs avionics. Imagine an NTTR modded to include a rough coast line with Southern California water. Would probably double map sales.

  8.

weird, working for me now too. Yet no issues "resolved" on there in about a month. I think the last thing I saw from Magnitude was that they were having trouble fixing the cockpit lights because Cobra (who left) was the one who initially did the work.

Honestly, I understand it might take a while to fix. These guys probably all have other jobs they have to attend to. I just hope the module regains its former glory.

  9. Come on guys, the MiG-21 got bug fixes for every patch since the split !!

    See by yourselves: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=147601&page=5

We never saw that when you considered the module "active"

Nobody is arguing that magnitude didn't make any updates, they made some rather drastic changes shortly after splitting. People (at least I am) are concerned because there hasn't been much info out of magnitude for a few weeks. And now it appears the bug tracker page is down. Maybe they are just busy with their day jobs, but I would hope they could just drop us a line on here. MiG21 is one of the best modules, one of my favorite to fly, but it has developed some warts over the past few updates with little response from Magnitude.

  10. Voicing valid criticism is one thing. Not allowing the testing phase to end before sounding off is quite another, so no, you have proven no point at all beyond your unreasonable assumption that 3rd party devs have nothing better to do than cater to your every whim.

No one objects to reasoned, and considered complaints. We're just too close to the initial release for there to be any hope of a valid whinge here.

Give it a couple of months, and repost it, and maybe we'll take you seriously!

This isn't just about the lighting issues caused by the 2.1 roll out. Even some first party modules are having issues here (P51D, Ka-50). The issues to me are the flight model on the mig-21 which is still going through major changes 2.5 years out the gate, and exists in two different states on 1.5 vs 2.1. There are some other issues like with the ASP, which honestly doesn't bother me, but I think people are justified in showing some concern.

  11. Has anyone seen info regarding the progress of the MiG-21 in 2.1? Seems rather quiet. Ive parked it in 2.1 for now, the 1.5 version is way better. My fear with Leatherneck dissolving was that the MiG-21 would not be able to keep pace with the very fluid DCS environment.

  12. Wags just said the hornet early access is still several months away, I would hope the Harrier would be out before that. Systems wise, it appears the Harrier has much more in place and closer to early access. Would be a shame if we didn't get either before years end. That would make the viggen the only new module this year.

  13. I wonder how much boot camp for the AF has changed since I was in (2001). We got 1 call in my entire time there, and it was for Christmas... using pay phones. :D

    I was a KC-135 crew chief.

    Phone calls? That's cute. :megalol:
