Oh good god...:D

The AA and AF will not to do anything to the clouds, it will just make everything look "nicer". I say "nicer" because you may like jaggies and blurred textures :D. Seriosly though you alter those settings on the GFX card, leave LOMAC out of it. Go into the NVidia control panel, go to the advanced settings (not in front of my PC so can't you exactly where it is, I use it that much I know where I am going without concentrating). In there find (or add) lomac to the list of games and set AF and AA to override (enhance does very little at all to this game) and then set the levels accordingly. 4x should be plenty, anymore is overkill and is putting more strain on your card (and power consumption) for no real advantage. If you can run your game at your monitor native resolultion, with your setup you shouldn't have to many problems running up to around 1920 x 1200, your graphics will look better. If you have a CRT (like an old style TV) and not an LCD screen you may get away with 2xAA. Lomac is heavy on the CPU and light on the GPU so bare that in mind. Regards Paul

I see, I was wondering where that setting was in lomac/locfg. I think I have mine set to linear, I used to have it set with aceleration but it made me feel sick. Cheers. Regards Paul

LOL well since you mentioned the drop down box I have noticed most of the forum sections are on different settings. That's what was confusing me. I have managed to find the post by going through my "find all posts" but was thinking that would soon get annoying if they automatically cycled off the front page after a few days (inactive or not). I had a look through the settings but it never dawned on me to look at the bottom of the page. Never mind, sorted now. Is there a reason they are at different levels? Oh and feel free mods to move this to the correct section (forums bit) I dropped the ball on that one as well. Regards Paul

I think I have it all sorted but what you meant by the above? Regards Paul

Oh good god...yeah...newbie alert! Thanks. Believe it or not I have used forums before :D Regards Paul

:D I am, but why has it vanished off the Lock On page? Do you only allow 4 threads and then they cycle off display? Regards Paul
-
I had a thread on here regarding Track IR and it seems to have vanished. Regards Paul

Well those settings made no difference what so ever. The graphics mod didn't either. Anything below (and including) high on the sea get's me 18-25 FPS over a city with the occasional dip to 16 fps. Very high looses me about 2-3 fps over cities. Again no issue over sea...it's really really odd! Maybe it's just me. Regards Paul

Frostie, Hello and thanks. =RvE=--AS--, Many thanks, I will give these a go later or over the weekend. The oddities with the smoke sounds...well odd  Regards Paul

Wow that's a fair bit of work! It's very much appreciated. Regards Paul

Ah hello. Well let me just say you have really helped me get more out of FC. I have been working through the videos over the last few weeks and it's helped really improve my experience and understanding of the sim so thank you very much. Regards Paul

Thats the badger, thanks very much! Are you THE Ironhand by the way? Regards Paul

Oh and sorry to the OP for the semi hijack. Regards Paul

Hmm your settings look pretty much the same as mine I think. I will check when I get home, although I think I have my water set to High, Very High is a killer. I will try medium later. Your also getting very similar FPS, what do you get around the airports? I run 4AA 4AF I think. I too have a few mods installed, mainly better textures, although I haven't noticed any difference in the FPS with or without them, this might be down to the 30FPS cap though. You might want to think about putting the cap on your FPS as it stops drastic changes in the FPS so it feels less juttery at times. I know the higher the better but 30FPS feels quite smooth to me. Also if your running medium water you might like this (not tried it I just found it and I am going to give it a go later): http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=703 Regards Paul

I don't think the cockpits are true 3D cockpits which is probably the reason. That is to say they aren't 3D modeled, but effectivly flat textures. If we had 6DOF in LOMAC it would break the illusion unless we got new cockpits. However you can increase the amount you can look around. The site I found suggested settings that you could have for each aircraft without causing clipping. Regards Paul

Morning all. I am "playing" FC with a Track IR 4 Pro and finding the FOV to be quite limiting with say a comparison to FSX. I know they are different games and FC only offers 3 (is it 3?) DOF but I would like to increase the amount of movement I have if possible. I have found the settings in LoCFG and I think the correseponding settings in the config files. I have also found a website that suggests values to put in (typically I can't find it now!) but it says to enter values into a file I don't have. I am prosuming these settings where for LOMAC and things have changed a bit in FC. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggested settings for FC and Track IR. If no one has any suggestions or settings I will be putting some time in myself and will post my settings here when I get them. Regards Paul

Are you getting solid 40FPS over see and cities? AND with all the settings on max? Is that 40FPS capped or uncapped? Regards Paul
-
If you get yourself LoCFG from lock on files you can set it to check if TrackIR is running on game launch and to delete these files. It also gives you the ability to tweak settings easily (especially usefull for view settings and TrackIR) in it. Regards Paul

I can't say what LOMAC was like before I played it on Vista but I found if you set all your volumes to 100% you actually get a worse sound scape. At least on my system. Running at 100% I couldn't tell the difference with the cockpit open or closed. Slightly lower setting gives a distinction and better realism. The lack of distinction (and lack of concentration on my part) caused me once to take off with the cockpit open...oops :pilotfly: Regards Paul

Thanks chaps, I assumed that was the case, but I am running Vista so I am used to older games not functioning 100%, just wanted to check. Cheers Regards Paul

Is it my game/setup or is it supposed to be like this? When I hit the speed of sound my sounds change, and I thought what I was experiencing was normal until I watched some online videos and it doesn't seem to be the same, but these could have had added sound tracks. When I am in the cockpit and hit the speed of sound the normal sounds switch off and I get some minor sounds, but when I drop back bellow the speed of sound they come back. Now I would assume this is correct because I am going faster than the sound I am creating. This is the same outside I get nothing then a boom as the plane passes (in fly by). I just want to check this is what is supposed to happen and I am not missing or have some faulty sound files that aren't playing properly. It's very disconcerting above mach 1 because it's so quite and I only know my engines are working because of the dials. Regards Paul

Hello, this is my first post but I thought this a great place to start as I am in the same boat as you. I have an 8800 GT OC2 Intel Quad Core running at an overclocked 3Ghz per core and 4GB of high speed RAM. My boss has a similar setup but with an NVIDIA 280. We get pretty much exactly the same frame rates on the game in the same situations and I can't believe the bottleneck is on anything hardware (unless it's incompatible with something). We can't have water set to very high either (it's actually fine over water, but for some reason that setting on very high AND then going over a built up area it stops. It seems that the water isn't a problem UNTIL you go over buildings). Everything else can be on max (apart from shadows due to the bug) and nothing makes a jot of difference to the FPS. No matter what res I run it at it always goes to within 1 frame difference (often the same FPS) as it does running at 1920x1200. The PC is barely breaking a sweat running LOMAC FC but yet it get's some really bad slow down and like I said nothing makes a difference. Even if I edit the config files (via LOCFG) and put the settings on the deck it only improves a dash, but looks awefull. Cities/Towns/Small Hamlets are the biggest killer, and as well as airports. It's as if there is a memory hole or something around them. My biggest worry is that although the game will be at a "slower" pace in BS we will be doing most of our flying around these kind of places and not be dropping bombs from the heavens, thus greater FPS impact. In LOMAC FC I have my FPS limited to 30FPS, if I unlimit it it goes into the hundreds until I hit the built up areas and then it's down in the dumps. I am looking at getting a 280 to play this game, but with my current kit apparantly barely ticking over playing this game I don't know if I am trying to solve a problem that can't be solved with a new GPU. Regards Paul
