  1. I see, I have watched most of the dev diaries via youtube and not payed 100% attention as I was at work at the time...shhh:music_whistling: Are the translating the radio messages then? They didn't do it with LOMAC or FC so I assumed they weren't bothering for this. It sort of adds more realisim for it to be in Russian. Regards Paul
  2. LOL yeah I got that bit :D It was more what is there to actually change? I am prosuming: All gui text including mission editors etc All mission/in game text Cockpit tags (when you mouse over parts of the cockpit the dev diaries appear to be showing a pop up with the dial or readout your looking at) Any voice over training/actor speech if there is such a thing in BS The possible but unlikley: Radio comms Cockpit labels on buttons I hope this has already been done: The manual, otherwise we will be waiting AGES. Actually on the subject of the manual if that date is geniune weren't we supposed to see the manual a few weeks before the game launched? Regards Paul
  3. Oh well done! Now I have tea all over my monitors! So if that is geniune what exactly needs changing in localisation? Regards Paul
  4. I think they are, but it's modified and then there is a whole new engine somewhere down the line...but I get the impression it's WWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY down the line. The main problem with the FC engine is that it's predominantly CPU based with very little done on the GPU (and it's DX 8. The improved engine uses DX9 (so we are told) which will hopefully mean quite a bit more is put onto the GPU. Regards Paul
  5. If I remember correctly your half right. I don't think it's MISSING a certificate, more that it's wrong, or more accuratly the certificate is the right certificate, just for the russian version of the site. You could be right though it was a while ago when I did it. If you put some screen shots up I can try and tell you what's what though. I nearly purchased a song earlier today, nearly filled in all my details on this itunes rip off until I noticed the padlock missing. Regards Paul
  6. That's a great game, if I remember correctly I was running it in DX9 due to "problems" with DX10...the problems being frame rates through the floor, it had issues in DX9 to be honest. But that aside DCS is going to be DX9 complient so ED most likely need to impliment some DX10 code reworkings before we can even see if it will kill the sim. I think we are about two years (or two generations) away from GPUs being powerfull enough to cope with effects like that in there stride, the last thing we want is to be skimming through some valleys to be lagged out by some evil passing cloud of smoke. Regards Paul
  7. Odd, but if your registered and you click on the direct link mentioned above it should take you to the page to purchase it, the button says "purchase with protex" or something. Regards Paul
  8. Playing a flight sim without some sort of head tracking, even something as little as what FC does, is unbelievably bad. You don't realise how much your using something like TIR until it's gone. TIR with 6DOF (FSX for example) is something else, the freedom it gives you and the ability to see things properly is game changing. Being able to lean around obsticles in your cockpit makes landing a breeze most of the time and you can now actually use your dials and readouts without plowing into a hill as it now only takes a split second to look down and back again. All that said about tracking though the biggest imersion tool is a joystick and throttle. I have an x52 pro and I have to say it's brilliant, I barely have to use the keyboard...in fact the only reason I do is when I realise I have forgot to bind something. Something like the x52 with it's 10 billion buttons and combinations is very usefull as you can standardise your keys and controls to the same buttons and dials no matter what sim/game your in. That way you know precisly which button it is to do what, which can really help in the heat of "battle". I also have some saitek pedals and initially I thought they were a waist of money as I hardly used them, and then I set them up correctly and now although I am still not convinced I really needed them they do help with the realisim and the precise control you may require at times. Unlike the joystick, throttle and TIR though you won't be using all the time, but when the need arises that you do need to use them then they suddenly become very valuable. That said in a helecopter sim I can see them being more usefull. For me I would get an X52 Pro, then a TIR 4 Pro then some rudder pedals if you get a bit of spare cash at some point. Regards Paul
  9. Although a lovely effect I don't think it's possible with todays technology and the game to still be running at 30+ fps. Changing the direction of the smoke is one thing, but having it get caught in the vortices is asking a bit much at the moment I think. Your getting into the realms of particle simulation and doing that on the fly to that extent will just kill any modern day uber PC. Regards Paul
  10. We all could be missing the point here...maybe it's the launch control unit for the remote inteligence camera bot? Regards Paul
  11. You know wouldn't this be the easiest way to spy on another countries tech...you spend a few years developing sims and games then post an inoques (wow...that spelling is way out) post asking for some "pics" of a plane that's a little bit of sensitive side...yeah I know your game! :D Regards Paul
  12. Oooh nice site, I love the look. The pics in the gallery are WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY to saturated on my monitor and for my tastes but content is really nice. Nice work. Regards Paul
  13. Are you talking to me about the Thai bit? If so...I have a blog? Regards Paul
  14. LOL I saw that film on wednesday, RDJ stole it. Regards Paul
  15. Whatever it is it looks an aftermarket modification because it's taped in...although it could have just fell apart... Regards Paul
  16. I don't really have anything to add apart from to say that it's people like this ^ who are helping flight sims keep a finger hold. If ED do make some sort of deal to import/export into Thailand I think someone should be recieving a free copy...cough cough...^^^^ Regards Paul
  17. DTWD

    question?

Ah I see, that would require a brand new model wouldn't it? Regards Paul
  18. RICARDO, Sorry it's my strange sense of humour, I was complimenting you on a great looking mod and that it had caused me to have an accident. Being English pants = underpants, boxers, knickers (not frilly :D) etc When and will it be available? Regards Paul
  19. DTWD

    question?

Do the BVR ones not do this? Regards Paul
  20. ...new pants please!?! Regards Paul
  21. Yeah can we get some screen shots attatched because everytime I click on these links they never work. Regards Paul
  22. I think they have there hands full with finishing BS and putting together a NEW not reworked engine for the DCS. I hope they bring LOMAC & FC into the new DCS engine, that way they can still support LOMAC and FC and provide us with a much needed FPS boost in the process...well that's assuming that the DCS is up to scratch :D. Upon further investigation it's defo a CPU bottleneck causing the issues. Regards Paul
  23. Hmmm that does look like either missing/wrong or unloaded textures. It's not a draw distance issue as the textures are fine infront of the plane. It doesn't look the same on the other side by any chance does it? As if it's only displaying a cone infront of the aircraft of proper textures? I questioned the lack of sound over M1, hollywood has taught us to expect something that isn't there. Regards Paul
  24. More like old coding. LOMAC and FC hardly use the GPU, they are more CPU based. Now when we are talking about two or four core processors they are technically very powerfull if a programmer cared to use them. However as this is an old game and pre-multicore they utilise just one core, and hardly the GPU. A modern CPU's raw GHz power is on par if not below that of a single core CPU from a few years ago. However a modern cpu has other features which speed it up and that isn't counting that it's actually 2 or 4 * what was available if only programmers would use it. But we have to remember that is OLD code that is still going strong and still being used. Hopefully FC will be integrated into the new DCS at some point. Regards Paul
  25. Missing textures could be down to several factors. Indeed the caching (the first page on LoCFG - brilliant program by the way) is where you will see those, set them to the default values and you shouldn't be having a problem. If your still getting issues it might be worth re-installing the mod and maybe a hard drive defrag (pot shot). If you have used ModMan to install your mod remove it and re-install it, if you haven't used ModMan slap yourself and then copy all the files over again. Also seriosly think about using ModMan for installing your mods. I would recomend you don't use ModMan's graphics settings though, and if you have in the past default everything and re-set it up in LoCFG. It might also be an issue with memory, but look fine with what you have. There is another mod out that replaces the textures that Reloaded didn't, it might be worth installing that in case the missing textures are problems with compatibility of the different textures. That is just a guess, but it's worth doing anyway. As for the sound I would check your volume levels, move everything below 100%. Also check your audigy isn't running in in surround if you haven't got surround. Switch all upscaling off if you don't have surround. Also you don't happen to be going over mach 1 when these sounds disapear do you? Regards Paul
