I personally don't not buy games due to the copy protection, I am just not entirely happy with the fact that some of them CAN (but probably won't) give you grief. I haven't yet tried to do a reinstall of FC, so I am not sure what will happen there. Regards Paul

Nobody wants starforce due to it's bad reputation, but touch wood I have never had a problem. Limited installs is my biggest worry. Regards Paul

Has anyone got an idea on price? I am going to go down the digital download route if it's available (depending on copy protection method). There are quite a few games out this month and I need get budgeting, especially if BS runs like a dog and I need to upgrade the PC. Regards Paul

LOL so we get shaddows back (which were an FPS killer anyway so it might help) but everything else is still CPU based...great news :( Regards Paul
-
Oh I know, hence I was saying earlier it's a bit off yet before we will be seeing it in our soon to be born DCS. Regards Paul

Fluid and air are very similar when it comes to rendering/modelling it's mainly down viscosity etc. Regards Paul

Hmmm so it doesn't support 5.1? Not that doesn't mean I can't encode 5.1 into the oggs, it just means two sound packs if I do release it...hmmm Regards Paul

Prey it's a few weeks early, then you can pretend your interested for a few weeks and then get back to your reall first love...that of computer simulations! :D Regards Paul

3.8!?!?! Air cooled!?!?!? Do you live in the antarctic? I went with 3GHz as it seemed a nice safe figure for air cooling, although I am running one of the energy efficient versions of the 6600. So what are you doing to get 3.8 out of it and it remain stable? Regards Paul

Cozmo, That's what I was thinking of doing. Does anybody know if FC supports surround sound? I know there are files like "engine front" and "engine back" but I think they are just for where the camera is pointed. Regards Paul

FC was CPU and not GPU intensive and DCS is based on FC code but is DX9 complient...so to be honest I haven't got a clue what is comming out! If it's DX9 then there is nothing stopping the GPU doing a lot of work and thus keeping a lot of load of the CPU, but if it's old code then it might work any old how. However I just wanted to let you know that a Q6600 can be overclocked to 3GHz really really easily. Regards Paul

There was a rumour at our uni that if someone died you were close to, ie a house mate, then you got a free pass for the year and weren't expected to do any work, take exams etc. Just pick one of your friends, explain it all to them and ask them to "have an accident" with your PC...electricution will be fine. Then get onto your insurance company and get a brand new PC for BS. If your lucky your friend will be a bit upset with this and haunt you for the rest of your life. So you not only get to play BS, you don't have to do exams, you get a new PC, you don't really loose your friend and your friend get's a cool new ability to spy on girls without them knowing. It's a win win situation :D Regards Paul

Are these still works in progress or are they available for download? Regards Paul

And Gears and Rockband 2, Banjo Kazooie, Lips among others I am sure, although I won't be playing Rockband 2 or lips. But your forgetting that I plan on playing the multiplatform releases as well, and as I actually said play, that means I can't get them for the PS3 :megalol::joystick: Seriosly though I was only having a joke, so far the shopping list running up to Christmas now runs: Fable 2 Fallout 3 Gears of War 2 Far Cry 2 Dead Space Midnight Club LA World In Conflict 2 (if that's still on the cards for this year) End War COD WAR Mirrors Edge Red Alert 3 TR: Underworld NFS: Underground (giving EA one last chance) Prince of Persia Damnation Rumours of GTA DLC And now BS! Oh and lets not forget I still have Crysis Warhead to play and more FC...it's just getting silly! Regards Paul

Damn you...I have already read that one! :D

No, but you could say that all flight simulators are all basically the same. The differences are down to the implimentation, scenarios, the world and the aircraft. These can all make a big difference to the sim but in the end they are all very similar. EDIT: Sorry I don't want to cause an argument here so I want to explain myself a little better. I was just meaning that if you put in the same aircraft into DCS (now fully modelled :D) and create new missions or the ability to use them in the mission editor then as far as I am concerned FC is in DCS. I don't tend to play the missions but just bomb about (sometimes litterally) having fun. Regards Paul
-
That is more what I was reffering to. LOMAC/FC is just aircraft and missions in a world, the DCS will be exactly the same with hopefully a more modern code that can take advantage of a modern PC setup and be upgraded to keep up with modern technology. Regards Paul
-
I am hoping they eventually integrate LOMAC/FC into the DCS. I am not sure if they are promissing to much with a 1.13 release for FC with them also wanting to completely re-write the DCS engine with new code and release new aircraft (with hopefully new missions and content) every nine months, unless it's just a minor bug fix round up. Let's not forget that the DCS and BS will also probably be getting bug fixes. Regards Paul

I think I am the only one not looking forward to this getting released anytime soon...have you seen the games line up for the next couple of months? Damn me for owning an xbox over a PS3, if I had a PS3 I would have plenty of time for PC games! After Christmas is fine for me :D Regards Paul

Isn't there two terrain mods? One just mods the summer textures and another finishes it off with the other 3 seasons...I am at work so I can't go looking in my modman atm. You also want the tree visability mod. In fact if you look in here you will see an entire post of pretty much the best mods: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=28186 Regards Paul

I could read the word October in Russian off that website, but that is only because of the "The Hunt for the Red October" film/book :smartass:. Regards Paul

It's the term used when the devs have finished the product and are sending it off to be pressed. So it means it's all done and dusted...or at least that's what it meant before the internet came out, now it tends to mean it's working and EA is biting our asses to get the game out in whatever condition it is in before the pirates get hold of it and if your lucky your we are going to be patching it for a few months, unless of course EA want us to start on the next version in which case it will stay broke but the EA Sports * 2010 patch will fix the problems, it will just cost you another £40. In a nut shell :D Regards Paul

From a point of view of view of playing a sim like FC do you want it to be cool, real or a mixture of the two? I am thinking of "tweaking" the sounds a bit as I don't think the stock ones are all that fantastic and I am not a big fan of the replacement sounds either. So I was thinking of doing my own which I may share with the community, but I was wondering how you all felt about their sounds and simming in general? I tend to like the simulation part and love the attention to detail, but when it comes to sound I know what I like and seeing as I am never going to be sat in a Mig 29 hurtling down the runway I want something that I think is right and sounds fitting but not necessarily correct, but feels right. Regards Paul

Cool well done, but yeah I would have thought this would be something worth announcing to everyone. Unless they wanted it to pass by silently while they all go on holiday for a few months :D Regards Paul
