  1. I'm also having an issue with sort of the same thing, but not exactly. For me, I am hosting a server on one PC and trying to join from another. I am using two different accounts. They are both on the same network. The server actually does show up in the list, however when I click to join, it shows the address as being a very odd combination of letters and numbers (which is definitely not my public or private IP address). I click join, and nothing happens. When I try to connect by IP using the local LAN address, though, it does indeed say address unavailable.

  3. Thanks for the response. I'm not too concerned about having all the speakers, mostly just that I have sound at all and a working bass.
  4. This isn't directly related to DCS but I could use some advice on this as it will be something I use for DCS. About a year ago my friend bought a logitech X 540 surround sound speaker system (on craigslist) which has a set of speakers and a subwoofer. The subwoofer did not work at all and is broken, so he sold the whole thing to me for almost nothing. The speakers work fine, however I do want a subwoofer that works. I can't seem to find a replacement sub for this particular set anywhere (except for buying the entire set again, which I don't want to do), however I have found other subwoofers that are sold individually with almost the same amount of audio ports as I have speakers (which is five). My question is this: Can I use the speakers from the old set on a different subwoofer (not from that same type of set) that has the roughly same amount of audio ports? I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work as it's just audio jacks but I'm hoping to get advice from those wiser than me. Pics below Original X 540 sub: Z 506, what I want to get as a replacement:
  5. Just installed SRS, but the program doesn't even open. Tried running as admin and still nothing. I'm running the SR-ClientRadio.exe - any ideas? I've reinstalled several times.
  6. Ok, been on for a while with customer support from naturalpoint. Tried full reinstall, updating drivers, using different USB ports, and nothing. In fact my camera only seems to be degrading more. Unless someone is able to come up with a solution sent from heaven, I'm afraid I'm going to have to invest in a second camera.

  8. Out of curiosity would anyone want to see an F/A-18D along with the C? I personally would love to see one. I know we don't need one considering the C can pretty much perform all the same functions, but I think it would be really interesting to be able to fly sorties with the shared workload. Plus I think it would just be awesome to have a buddy with you in the plane to spot targets and yell at you for messing up your landings, etc. Not to mention it would be really helpful for newer Hornet pilots to have an experienced guy in the back as instructor. Just a thought! (I don't expect ED to make one... but I can dream! :pilotfly:) EDIT: What I have in mind with this would be as an addition to the existing F/A-18C module. If I had to choose between getting a D Hornet or getting an entirely different aircraft module developed, of course I would rather have something new for a next module.
  9. So I've been having some issues with my track IR that are getting me quite worried. I posted something on the naturalpoint forums yesterday but it has yet to be reviewed by a moderator so it's not showing up in their forums - so I decided to ask around here and see if anyone else has had something like this happen. Here's the issue: I start up track IR, everything seems normal at first. Then suddenly, the camera just stops tracking. And I don't mean it gets all spastic because of another light source or something, I mean it actually just stops tracking everything altogether. Both green lights go out and the red lights on the camera either disappear, or they become very faint and you can tell it's still trying to track but barely. Then after moving my head for around a minute it will eventually start tracking something again and catch the hat clip. Then it will be normal for a very short amount of time and the same thing happens again. I don't know how I'll fly if my track IR is broken! :cry: Btw, I have had this track IR for around a year now.

  13. Thanks for the info guys, glad to learn the cause of this sound. Now I'm just wondering if it will be modeled into our Hornet module that the sound becomes prolonged when the throttles aren't up all the way into idle. No, I haven't seen it before but that would be pretty funny haha. EDIT: Now that I think about it, I guess that wouldn't be modeled in because the throttle going from cutoff to idle is a key bind so there's no in between the two states.
  14. After listening to the startups on Wags' livestreams, I was wondering if anyone knew if ED made the engine "groan" sound variable during startup. By that I mean, does the sound length and frequency change based on conditions like temperature, humidity, or maybe anything else that could effect the amount of time it takes to get the engine cranked up to idle? Just asking out of curiosity and because I have heard in videos of F/A-18s starting up that the "groaning" from the F404s is sometimes longer and sometimes shorter.
  15. Absolutely agree that dynamic campaign is an absolute must-have for DCS. A full, unpredictable environment to fly our aircraft in would just be wonderful. As great as our current campaigns are, I think it would be a completely different experience to have DC too. If we're talking about modules though, I support the idea of multi-crew. With the F-14, Mi-24, and F-4E coming along, I think DCS is heading towards a new age beyond single seaters, and personally I love the idea of working other roles in an aircraft.

  18. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I have been wondering how to get a hamachi server working for DCS and under what conditions it works. I know it is definitely possible to do because I have been able to host a server and have someone connect directly through the hamachi IPv4, and we flew for a while together. However since that one time it worked, I have been unable to host a server again through hamachi; the person on the other end can't connect. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it consistently working? Thanks.

Every time I'll be watching a KC-135 video and hear the aircrew talking or the boom operator talking to the trailing plane, there is always this background hum or buzzing in the background of the radio comm. I hear this in pretty much all videos with radio communication for air crew. Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually know where this comes from or what is causing it? Is there a name to describe this sound? Is it some sort of interference? I put together a few clips of the sound I'm talking about so you can hear it:
  21. Update: I just reverted my computer back to a restore point. It works ok now so anyone reading this thread doesn't need to bother with it.
  22. I did look to see if I could roll back the driver but that option was not available for me. I did try removing and plugging it back in but it would not install any default drivers. It just said there was no driver currently on the device. I would check what version of driver I was using but as of 30 minutes ago I realized this is beyond having the driver installed now. Even if I uninstall it and unplug the X65 my computer becomes unusable and extremely slow. So now I am writing this from my phone. I can tell you I got the driver from this website: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php Right now I just want my computer to work... I think I may have to do a system reset. EDIT: Ok, my computer stopped being terrible for a second and I checked which driver it is. It's the same one you gave me.

Yesterday my friend suggested I get the drivers installed for my X65f throttle so that I could use the mouse cursor on it in DCS, so I went to the saitek downloads for drivers and tried installing it. Well, that proved to be a mistake as when I installed it my windows (10) suddenly became extremely slow and it took an eternity to process anything, eventually leading up to doing something like trying to open task manager not responding and making the entire computer nearly frozen. I completely removed the X65 from my devices and got rid of the driver and everything seemed to be back to normal - the issue now was that my pc no longer recognized the X65 and I can't use it. After some searching I found a way to reinstall a driver back into the throttle but it turned out to be the same driver which makes the computer unusable every time I install it. My request for help is this! If anyone knows a way in which I can just bring the X65 back to a default state that it's in when you first plug it in please let me know! I just want it to function without installing any of the specific saitek drivers from their website. It was working fine before, only the mouse cursor didn't function which honestly I don't care that much about. I just want to return the X65 to the "brand new" state where it has no drivers manually installed, just the default state. I can't figure out how to just have the pc recognize it again without putting in one of the "bad" drivers. Any help would be appreciated! I just want to get back to flying! Thanks.
