  1. nope, i use the hat switch
  2. Currently I have the HCU axis, half-action, and full-action bound to my Extreme 3D Pro I've got 6 free buttons, whats useful to bind? (Don't want to bind keys to adjust radar elevation, too sensitive with buttons. I'll stick with physically rotating the knob on the radar control panel)
  3. sorry whats the VSI? (is it the same as the VDI?)
  4. What's the difference between IFR and VFR?
  5. So is trimming the HUD standard procedure for landings?
  6. thanks, post got a bit hijacked :D
  7. Can you elaborate on that? I don't quite understand. The pitch ladder is depressed 5 degrees but how Does the indication differ from the wings symbol to the FPM
  8. Hmm so you land based on a descent rate, regardless of where the FPM will be at that descent rate?
  9. I know it should be on the runway threshold, but between what degree pitch bars should the FPM be? I usually have it at around -2.5 degrees but this seems impossible in the tomcat and i often have it above the artificial horizon line. Is this normal?
  10. The only current issue with the missile as of right know AFAIK is that the Phoenix will go still active instead of going ballistic even if you lose radar contact with the target before pitbull
  11. AIM-120 behavior: Receives target location, speed, heading, etc at launch. Receives mid course guidance updates through data link if the supporting aircraft chooses to provide it. Will turn active on its own once within range of the target. Regardless of whether launched in TWS or STT, the procedure is the same but with STT the mid course guidance updates are more accurate. AIM-54 behavior: If launched in TWS, the missile receives target location, speed, heading, etc at launch. The missile MUST receive mid course guidance updates through data link up until pitbull. It will not turn active on its own, it must be commanded active by the AWG-9. Losing radar contact with the target means a wasted missile. The only difference in using STT is that the missile uses its SARH seeker to guide itself to pitbull range, instead of receiving updates through data link
  12. I've been told that if an aim120 is fired in STT the target will get a warning at launch and at pitbull. Any idea why this is different with the aim 54?
  13. 1. If fired i fire an AIM-54 in PD-STT, will the target get a launch warning? 2. Why does the RIO's "Mic Button UHF2 (ARC-182)" not bring up the ARC-182 radio menu but instead switches the radio that Mic Button UHF1 uses? The pilot has access to both radios with one keybind for each, the RIO has one button for radio and one that switches between radios (I lied, 3 questions ;), can we get a Questions & Answers Thread?)
  14. The store select switches on the RIO's armament panel, do they have to be selected for weapon employment?
  15. What's the procedure for a proper carrier takeoff? Flaps and burners? Climb angle after launch? I've seen videos of some takeoffs where the pilot is putting in full back stick before the launch and then releasing right after Just wondering how to do a proper carrier takeoff
  16. I'd just rather use RWS and exchange the 20 nm of scan range (PD search has 110 nm range, RWS 90 nm range) for ranging information and use of the TID, which i find more valuable personally
  17. PD Search is useless
  18. So then I guess my question is what does boresight mode do to the Phoenix, what does boresight mode do to the sparrow, and what does flipping the cover do to the sparrow.
  19. I'm a bit confused over the function of flipping up the ACM cover vs switching to boresight mode. Could someone explain?
  20. When exactly should you do it? And thanks, didnt know that about the aoa
  21. What is the point of the certain AoA that is maintained on approach to landing if the pilot is going to end up flaring at the end? Why dont planes just come in at a shallower angle to begin with? Also, when exactly should I flare when landing? Thanks
  22. I see and what about the 7E? I think that was just added
  23. What's the difference between the AIM-7M and F? I know the MH can do HOJ, but what about the F?
  24. So in a turn fight should I try to maintain my corner speed even if it means not pulling max G? I think that would give me a good sustained turn rate, right? Or should I just pull max G regardless of energy loss (and this would be instantaneous turn rate right?)
  25. So whats the correlation between G-forces, AoA, and turn rate?
