  1. Is it just me or is the TAD extremely bright, and the text on the MFCDs a bit blotted? Had this issue since 2.5 If anyone else notices this, is there something I can do about it or is it something ED has to fix? Thanks
  2. Why are Shilkas and other self propelled anti air guns referred to as AAA if they are not artillery?
  3. What does BVR combat look like when both aircrafts only have SARH missiles? Usually, with AMRAAMs and R-77s, people will wait until pitbull and then break defensive. But how does one defend against an incoming SARH missile while supporting their own? For example, if both I and an Su-27 fire a SARH at each other from 15 miles, how should I continue the engagement? If I wait until my missile impacts, I won't have enough time to defend against the enemy missile. Break defensive and my missile goes stupid. What should be done?
  4. How do you defeat radio guided missiles like the Tunguska and Roland in the Hog?
  5. How do you defeat radio guided missiles like the Tunguska and Roland?
  6. do you guys know why certain aircraft are always loaded with the same configuration on certain pylons all the time? like the A-10C always having AIM-9s and TGP on the left and the ECM pod on the right? or the F-16 always having AIM-120s on the wingtips instead of AIM-9s?
  7. I don't know why, but in the MiGs and Sukhois my situational awareness is always drastically reduced compared to in the F-15. Anyone have a similar experience? And any tips on how to keep up my SA in Russian aircraft?
  8. And I'm assuming that even though other weapons can be loaded on the outer pylons, AIM-9s are always taken? Much like how bombs never make it to the outer pylons of a Hog, which are almost always taken up by Sidewinders and ECM?
  9. The A-10C is extremely fuel efficient with a fuel capacity of 11,000 lbs, it uses about 20 pounds of gas per nautical mile at military power, max weight, low altitude. This fuel mileage is increased even more if you cruise at around angels 15, where fuel mileage is better. So: 1. How does the Harrier compare in terms of fuel efficiency? 2. Is it able to loiter for extended periods of time like the Hog? Or is it more like the F-18 where you strike a target or two and then egress? 3. Are fuel tanks always necessary? Thanks
  10. Good to hear . Very excited for DCS 2.5 and the new explosion effects as well
  11. Has ED ever looked into changing how units take damage? Experimenting with some system other than hit points? For example IRL, a tank that receives a two second burst from a Hog's Gau-8 is going to be out of action. It won't blow up, but it doesn't need to blow up to be out of action. Similarly a transport truck will need more than four or five rounds from the Gau-8 (which is all it takes in DCS) to be destroyed Not sure what other system can be used, but maybe we can brainstorm below.
  12. Do you guys know how to change your nickname/callsign AFTER slotting in to aircraft? I know it can be done from the bar at the top in the server menu, but how do you change callsigns/nicknames while flying?
  13. Haha np
  14. found it yet? :)
  15. Realistically, how many fuel tanks do fighter jets take on A2A missions? 1 centerline tank? Edit: Also, is more fuel generally needed for an A2A or A2G mission?
  16. Has ED ever considered having free weekends for certain aircraft? Or maybe allowing users to buy a module and return it within a few weeks if they don't like it? I think it's a good idea, personally I wouldn't wanna buy a $60 module and end up not liking it :/
  17. I try to use the F10 map as little as possible to keep things as realistic as possible but one thing I have trouble doing in DCS is navigating through the airbase and getting myself onto the runway... Is there anyway to know where you spawn in, and to know what turns to make to get onto the runway, without using the F10 map?
  18. Yes, please very eager to play OPBF for the first time. Also, when I finally get on how will I know where everyone else is heading? Do fighters usually fly CAP for the strikers?
  19. I've been flying the hog for about 6 months now, but i've known how to fly it for about a year before i actually purchased it. I've pretty much mastered all the systems and procedures (except for aerial refueling and emergency procedures) and i'm pretty good in combat situations. But I've gotten bored playing on the 104th and flying standard DCS missions. Blue Flag isn't up for the Caucasus map right now, either. Any ideas/suggestions on how to freshen things up in the hog?
  20. True, personally I feel BULLS is easier when cooperating with other aircraft to pick out individual targets
  21. Would you guys rather have the F-15 radar screen display a target's BRA (bearing, range, altitude) relative to your aircraft or the targets location relative to the bullseye?
  22. In Falcon BMS and DCS: Mirage 2000, not locking up a target will put you in RWS mode. Locking a target once, aka soft-locking will put you in TWS mode. And locking it twice will put you in STT mode. In the F-15 however, a single lock while in RWS mode will put you in STT mode. If you want TWS, you'll have to switch to it with the keybind. Why doesn't the F-15 RWS mode put you in TWS after you lock something up the first time, instead of going straight to hard locking in STT mode?
  23. Few questions: 1. When you fire an R-77 in the MiG's TWS mode, does it work the same way as the F-15, where the enemy only gets a RWR notification at the missiles pitbull? Or do they get a RWR warning when you launch the missile, instead of at pitbull? 2. If an Su-27 or MiG is in IRST and it fires a radar-guided missile, will the radar automatically turn on?
  24. Would anybody be kind enough to measure the height of their TM warthog throttle and stick and posted it here, cuz I'm wondering how tall the throttle and stick are
