Okay, I copied and deleted my mod folder and went into Caucasus map and I was able to see the encyclopedia, so now I will add on folder at a time, I believe it might be an asset pack I recently downloaded. I don't get into the encyclopedia very often anyway, It is good to know though.
-
The only mods are the A4 and a couple in my Saved Games folder. the game itself seems to work fine. I've tried different missions in the ME with same results. I will try and start a new mission and see if I can open the encyclopedia.
-
I was in the Mission Editor creating a mission and I wanted to check on specs for a weapon, when I clicked on encyclopedia, the screen went black. I though maybe the mission somehow got corrupted, but I tried a different mission and same thing. Is the encyclopedia broken? I went through, updated my graphics driver, I ran a repair on my updated DCS installation and still I get the same thing. I have to use the task manager to close DCS. and I do get the message from DCS asking me - Do you really want to exit? So, I'm guessing DCS is hanging.

reported Laser bombs not working with F-18
Mouse_99 replied to Mouse_99's topic in Bugs and Problems
I am including a track file, I might be doing it wrong, but I used to get it working. I never got any HUD indication there was anything wrong, like a DUD indicator if the fuse was not set, normally you would get a flashing code indicating mismatched codes, I used the standard 1688, and it seems to work, but it also seems to stop prematurely, and I have done it several time, to insure I wasn't masking the TGP. There was no re-arming used FMU-139 for all bombs. bombtraining in Marianas withF-18c Mk-82LG.trk -
reported Laser bombs not working with F-18
Mouse_99 replied to Mouse_99's topic in Bugs and Problems
I did notice the fuse would reset which I then did and I believe another message flashed on the HUD, concerning the code, which made me go over all my settings. This can't be how the real thing works, Once you set all the codes, they should not reset, the fuse should not reset to nothing, as I never got the dud indicator in the HUD. I will try again and maybe get a track file. It's like you have to totally set up each bomb, each time, and to top it off, the laser would stop prematurely. it's just bizarre. -

i was trying to bomb some targets with a Mk-82 laser bomb, but it seems the laser stops right before the bomb hit and there was no explosion. I tried it several times with different missions and still no joy. I tried it with the F-16 and it worked fine, I was searching for this in the forums, but there weren't any specific to laser bombing with the F-18.

Binding to the taxi/landing light switch
Mouse_99 replied to bfr's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I admit, this is why I like clickable cockpits, I reach over and click the switch or button with my mouse. I save HOTAS issues for the HOTAS, and others that are not as subject ti immediacy to my mouse and cockpit switches. While they offer hundreds of bindings, I do my best to keep them to a minimum. -
Referring to your "crap memory", I generally use Google sheets to list my controls for my HOTAS (I have the Winwing F-16ex stick and Orion 2 Throttle with F-15e grips) I fly about 8 modules and I have your crap memory also. I also printed out the control diagrams to identify the different numbers for the switches and buttons, that way, I can have a print out of the Controls and diagrams in front of my keyboard (I fly 2D) if your VR, I can't help you there. Since I fly many aircraft, I do my best to make most normal controls the same for each and then it's cheat sheet time for the unique controls for the aircraft. Hope that helps a little. ;)

Good job gentlemen! You nailed it, it was my switch I use to lower the launch bar, I must have inadvertently bumped it and put it in the down position. Thank you for the help! I knew it was something basic, because it would show up and immediately go out, so I knew there was something triggering that, but I couldn't figure it out for the life of me!

Yes, I deleted my bindings and re-did them but din;t work. i also removed my mods folder to insure there weren't any shenanigans going on there.
-
So far, I deleted my bindings and redid them with no success, I then uninstalled the F-18c and then re-installed still with no success. I loaded an instant action - Ready on the ramp. When the mission loads in, for a brief instant I see the NWS it then goes out. I disconnected the joystick and used the keyboard and I get the same action - the NWS indicator is gone and when I press the S key it comes on as long as I hold the key. I have no way to turn on the High Gain. In the video I hold down the s key twice to show you what's happening. This is while the wings are down and locked. As I have mentioned, I have been using these key bindings for years, and in the middle of flying a mission, it suddenly doesn't work anymore. The binds show up in the controls and lighting up when pressed. I unplugged the joystick and used the keyboard with the same results. NWS failure_01.mp4

This is on an airfield and no.

Yeah, I get that, it has been working for years, and now it doesn't, that's why I asked the question of there has been any changes or if it were a new bug with the last update. Normally the NWS appears in the HUD, but now it's not. When I press my normal High Gain button the NWS comes on only while I hold the button. There is no way to get the High gain at all. Since I posted this, I deleted my controls config and re-did the bindings, but I got the same results.
