  1. With so many now flying in VR, if anyone from DCS is reading this, then your next step in development really needs to start considering the introduction of Native Leap Motion for switches, and the Gloves currently being developed. Or for someone out there to develop the code and sell it to users of DCS. After using Leap Motion in FlyInside with FSX, XP and P3D, it completely changes the realism immersion just like VR did. Some may say it is inaccurate, but I have found it to be excellent and very accurate (after some tweaking), and it does feel like your really flicking switches and pushing buttons. Using your own fingers to pushes button and switches allows you to know your aircraft and physically undertaking the normal steps you would if your were in the actual aircraft. How much more real can you get than this. Trying to use a mouse to push buttons and flick switches is just so antiquated. Really it's a joke for such an advanced flight simulator that in so many other areas is real. This development in coding to allow for Leap Motion and prepare for Gloves really is the change DCS needs to start considering seriously to make DCS keep up with future technological advances.
  2. C-Tek still has an open active website, just not taking orders .... or answering emails. I did get it at the end of last year so still warranty, but due to a serious accident, l only recently was able to build the helicopter sim. Then first use and it breaks in half. No wonder they closed their doors. Quality is rubbish on both the current Cyclic and Collective. Never touch them again. Obviously they moved away from metal components to plastic to save on money and quality. I have to start questioning these small companies. Its a risk to us Flight Simmers. In December last year l also ordered new expensive yokes from ACE. They finally arrived 11 1/2 months later and broken due to poor wiring. So has to be repaired but if l send it back, may never see it again. So many others also complaining about this company of non delivery. So who is reliable any more? And who makes Helicopter controls that work and isn’t going out of business. And deliver in a reasonable time??? I am hearing bad things about multiple Companies. Luckily my low quality Saitek yoke for fixed wing is still working, and despite being average, it has never broken down 6 years in. May be cheap, but the old stuff made years ago is still reliable, not like today
  3. My C-Tek Cyclic broke on first go, during the callibration. Didnt even get to fly with it. And no metal in this shaft, just plastic. As for the ‘Idle Dent’ on the Collective, brand new out of the box and it doesnt work. And despite numerous emails to them, no response! So buyer beware!!!!
  4. I’m using the V3 in VR and it’s actually surprisingly good. Far better than l thought it would be. I thought it would not really do that much. Have done time in real helicopters including the Heuy and it actually brought back lots of memories once l started using it compared to stationary VR, and was so much better than without. You know when your doing takeoffs esp step takeoffs, you feel it when your not hovering properly, and when your doing turns (esp high angle turns), and you even get those little bumps like you hit an air pocket every so often. And landing can be so much more fun and you feel it, sometimes with a good thud if too hard a landing. Crashes are awesome and when going in nose down, actually a little scary as it feels like your falling forward. When out of control, you are literally tossed around by the device. And all on a 2DOF motion platform that only moves a little. But best of all, no more motion sickness. Truely, its resolved it. The motion of the V3 in VR really seems to help so l’m getting more flight time and doing more hair raising flying and the nausea is no more. It might only be 2DOF, it might only be minor pitch and roll (and heave - the bounce), but if your not used to anything better, then its a great low cost start. My set-up actually has all controls on the V3 including the pedals that are attached by a base board so its full body movement (even if only minor). And that l think makes the difference as the whole body moves with the V3, not just the torso, so movement sensation is further enhanced under VR. Forget about just the chair moving, build a lightweight base with the chair, controls and pedals all attached onto it and its far better (l’ll post a picture tomorrow). But weight has to be centred directly under you so you dont break the V3 it as its not actually advertised for how l have done it, but weight it properly, balanced correctly, and it works safely and within the limits of the V3’s parameters. So its expensive for what you get, its cheap as a motion platform, but no way will l fly without it anymore. And no more recovering from wanting to vomit post flying. So lasvideo, if your not used to motion platforms, and not spoilt by a full 6DOF, you will enjoy it and it will definitely change your flying enjoyment in VR. Although without VR, maybe not so much as the large movement perceptions will be gone. Have fun.

  6. Sharkku, Everything you said about how good Leap Motion would be, I agree 100% How are you going with Leap Motion in DCS. I dont use Steam, but Leap in DCS is a must. l just started using DCS and love it, except l keep going for the switches with my hands. Leap Motion is just so natural. The mouse is such a significant let down after using FlyInside with FSX and P3D. Once you have used Leap Motion, you just cant go back to a mouse. I can only hope someone can work it out and let us know. DCS, you really need to do some work to make Leap Motion function as it is such a disappointment. It feels like old technology having to use the mouse and does destroy the immersion. I’d even pay a fee for an add-on. Common DCS. You have a great program. Just finish it off properly. Ravemtech
