Alpenwolf organised once a CA and choppers game and made a poll to judge how many people would be actually interested. I don't remember how the game went, search for it in english tournaments section, it could be called like 'helicopter tournament'. He made a handful of them, so you have to check 5 recent ones. I'd say choose aircraft you like the most and learn in small steps how to employ it. You can also try the easiest way and buy Flaming cliffs 3, because these aircraft are the easiest to learn. I'd advise against buying fc3 planes separately, it's rather not cost effective.
