  1. ok, thanks. will try that
  2. thanks, sounds reasonable to me! Is there something like a tutorial for ground avoidance mode? It is very hard to fly e.g. thick fog and only looking at the radar.
  3. Hi all, can the Viggen be considered an all weather strike fighter? I have read everything that can be found on the internet about it (the AJS37-Variant), but it is never descripted as an all weather aircraft, although it has ground radar and TILS. In my mind the swedish airforce would never send their Viggens on a interdiction-type strike mission, if visibility is zero (pitch black night, extreme fog), because the Viggen needs line of sight to deliver its weapons. Or am i wrong? Also i have tried several missions at night and in zero visibility and it is nearly impossible to hit your intended target - although a very precise waypoint on the target can help tremendously.
  4. It is because in germany, russia and china the tracers use barium instead of strontium (USA, UK etc.) When Strontium is burned it glows red. When Barium is burned it glows greenish.
  5. Awesome! Thanks for the detailed infos! Have to test all of that!
  6. Ah, this makes sense. So in A/A fly-by-wire mode the paddle switch will not make a difference while in A/G fly-by-wire mode the paddle switch will change the limit to A/A-mode temporarily Right?
  7. Hi all, just wanted to invite all of you to post the most interesting, quirky, special, funnny features you can think of in any airplane. I am talking about things like: - Harrier using water injection to cool the engine and prevent the fanblades from melting - Whole viggen concept including sturdy landing gear, thrust reverser etc. to allow landing/rearming anywhere - british electric lightnings staggerd engine layout - A10 being an airplane built around a giant gun - KA50 being highly automated to require only one pilot - F-14 Automatic carrier landing system (very advanced by 70s technology) - F-14 usage of spoilers to descent when landing - MIG21 radar cooled by alcohol - F-16 only slightly movable Sidestick because of space- and g-tolerance-reasons or anything else you can think of :pilotfly: Keep it coming!
  8. i think the problem is the AI flight model of the MIG21. It seems to be simplified -> much better turn rate When fighting a fully loaded MIG21 with a complete clean MIG21 i still get outturned easily.
  9. Hi all, in the keybinds the paddle switch (on the stick) has a description saying something with elastic limit. Can this be used to exceed the g-limit by holding the paddle switch during maneuvering similar to the paddle switch in the F/A-18?
  10. Had the same situation yesterday. Then restarted the fighte without bags and still had the same result. Tried again and again for hours and its nearly impossible to outturn a Mig21 below 10.000 feet. Switched my tactics to boom and zoom and still had no success. Then switched to a hornet and after that to a viggen. Both times it was much easier to kill the Mig. The flightmodel of the F-16 is either not finished or i am doing something terribly wrong.
  11. Im talking about the 8-Way HAT under the index. Not the one under the middle finger which has axis. Hornet Attack-Radar slewing works fine, but the Maverick slewing is horrible. Even with AP engaged the slewing while pressing the hat is nearly impossible for me. Thats why i changed it to the 8-Way Hat. Also tried to place the action-button somewhere else so im not pushing and slewing with the same finger, but that is also very hard. For some reason slewing speed of the Maverick is too slow for my hand-eye-coordination. Even after tuning the axis. But im open to ideas of course.
  12. I use the coolie hat where your index-finger is positioned on the TM Hotas Throttle for slewing. Same in the Hornet. Does anyone know why the slewing works fine in the A-10, but not in F/A-18C and AV8B?
  13. Thank you for the complex answer, but to clarify: i wasnt talking about realism of every single second of the mission - i am very aware of how tedious, meticulous and long a real A-10 mission can be. I was talking about realistic tactics of planing to use the A-10. Especially considering things like air superiority, because i would never allow an A-10 to start as long as there are enemy fighter planes active or as long as long range (more range than a AGM65) SAMs are still in the area of operation.
  14. perfect! Thank you very much for the campaign. Will test it right away
  15. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/why-the-us-army-could-care-less-about-the-10-warthog-16704 According to the linked article the air force would never use the A-10C in a way it is used in the Georgian war campaigns. I know this is maybe not of interest to most gamers, but to me it explained why some of the missions (with Mig-29s and S-300s) seem so tough, when flying like an "actual pilot" (full realism etc.) and not on the limit like a maniac (unrealistic heavy loadout, labels etc.) Dont get me wrong, i like a challenge and am playing the campaigns for the 10th time, but considering real life tactics of the A-10C it makes much more sense to keep the A-10s on the ground, when not having air superiority.
  16. How do you do it? I got the newest version of 2.5 and no matter if TPOD is in area or point mode, i cant get the mavericks to do it.
  17. ok, thanks. Are there versions on Steam other than 1.5.8 or open beat 2.5? 2.0 or somehting like that?
  18. perfect, thank you!
  19. Got it. But without proper SPI/Slave commands for the TPOD its really hard to use those Mavericks during the night. Questionable design decision for a jet with night attack in the name.
  20. Hey Guys, am i supposed to use the TPOD for recon/target locking at night or just FLIR and HUD (for Dumb-fire) and the Maverick Seeker without DMT? Thanks
  21. Got it thanks. Also Chucks AV8B Guide is finally here. He made some standard calculations for lazy people.
  22. I got the Steam Version 1.5.8 of DCS. Autopilot is not working. Do i have to update to 2.5 Beta (over Steam) or is Steam getting the updates later? Thanks
  23. Ive found the "magic word" in a manual for av8b for FSX from RAZBAM. its called "Nozzle Angle Calcucaltion". After googling it ive found these: https://de.scribd.com/document/290004363/AV-8B-Procedures
  24. Yes, ive read the pocket guide, but its not very accurate. e.g. for STO they just write 25degree nozzle, but not at which point and which speed etc. Just would like to know the real life numbers
  25. What is the official procedure for Short Takeoff/Landing and Conventional Takeoff/Landing. And is there a difference between carrier-takeoff and short-takeoff? Takeoff: - flap position - H20 setting - Nozzle position rolling - when to rotate (knots) - how much to pitch up (degrees) - Nozzle position rotating - when Nozzle position back to 0 Landing: - max speed - flap position - Nozzle Position - PNB (Nozzles full rotation, 70% RPM?) VTOL is covered in a lot of Youtube Videos so i wont be talking about it here. Thanks! :pilotfly:
