RTFM! It helps!

Actually, come to reading thinking about this. the Grumann Intruder would be an interesting aircraft to do in a flight sim... But the proposed and never built A-6F Intruder II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-6_Intruder could have had FAR reaching effects which could be fun to explore in a flight sim.

And if a tree falls in the forest with noone there to hear it... How many HP is that?

TrackIR or rudder peddals?
Sentonal replied to LastRifleRound's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
TrackIR is a hands down no contest. If my rudder peddles and my TrackIR went at the same time, and I only had the $$ for one. It would be the Track IR. I have an EVO force and an X52 though, so I already have a backup for the rudder. I did however just go in and can see what you mean by controlability with the X52, I might suggest tweaking your axis's in options. That seemed to help a bit. Next I am going to some of the TrackIR alternatives though just to ensure a backup. -
POLL: Would you rather see A-10 or AH-64a as next module?
Sentonal replied to Sharkster64's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thunderbolt II Is my vote. I really think Eagle staff made a great choice in choosing to do the A-10 next! This decision helps give Jet Heads a much needed update in Flight Sims who have long been in need of a new study sim that isnt a dogfight centric simulator. And in the future this will as well feed rotor heads with the promice of an Apache sim (maybe with the next engine?!?!? WE CAN HOPE!!). In either case, I will be buying the A-10 simulator, if nothing else than to support this fantastic company who clearly put out a quality product, so they can bring me the Apache. Im sure Ill be tooling around with the A-10 simulator once in a while anyway. -
Better load times even... THANK YOU!!!! Thanks for the great tool Skypat!!!! I was going to sit down with VS2005 tonight and write my own tool for doing just this. Yours is alot better than what I had in the planning stage, love the simplicity of the UI! The track IR launch is just a stroke of genius. Now, for the nitty gritty.... On a Vista x64 box AMD Phenom 9950 running stock at 2.6 4GB DDR2 @533MHz HSI 4870 512MB (at stock 2 250GB WD2500AAJS in Raid 1 From Launch to sitting in cockpit and turning on the DC Ground power in Mission "Shooting Range" Load times are 1:54 on a fresh boot without your tool 1:36 on a fresh boot with your tool 56 seconds on a DCS Full relaunch without your tool 49 seconds on a DCS FUll relaunch with your tool In short  I only built this PC 2 weeks or so ago and havent done ANY frame rate testing..... Thank you again for a nice tool.

No force feedback and no collective with Saitek Cyborg Evo Force
Sentonal replied to sohei's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, I wanted force feedback in some games like BS and IL-2 and still use the collective buttons and sliders on the x52 for BS. It may also be that I have a controller problem as I also have a p2600 game pad and a graphire tablet and the defacto must have Track-IR. :joystick: -

To Add... Before plugging in the controller Open Device Manger: After you plug your controller in the list will update: When you see "HID Compliant Game Contoller" right click on it and choose Update Driver software. Then Search Automaticly for the software. Do this for All your Saitek Controllers. THEN install the SST Software and you should be in the Green. I did this procedure with the Cyborg EVO Force X52 Pro Flight Yoke Pro Flight Pedals And all are functioning Perfectly now. (and yes my desk is a bit cluttered) -

I tested the unit in hour 2 on an XP Box. The Vista install was clean (finished the install last night at 10:30) DCS was running at 11:15 :-) cause I was DIEING to see it on the 4870 (I was not dissapointed) In actuality, When I downloaded the drivers from Saitek (Yesterday at work) their website sent the ones from 5/1/2007. So when I did what I did, I now have the wonderful version dated 4/4/2008. (I've been a computer programmer and tech for 18 years now and this wasnt my first rodeo with saitek drivers either) It was however my longest rodeo. So on with the FUN! OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heres WHAT I DID!!!!!! 5 hours into this!!!! With the Stick UNPLUGGED!!!! 1 uninstalled the SST Software 2. Used Device manager to remove the driver (put a check in Delete the driver) 3. Opened regedit and in HKCU\System\CurrentControlSet\MediaProperties\JoyStick\OEM I removed any Key that started with VID_06A 4. I then deleted c:\windows\temp\Saitek\ 5. Then Bounced the box (reboot). 6. Plugged in the controller. 7. Used the "Update Driver" Button and searched automaticly for the driver software. Unit is now working in control panel!!!! -

no actually its a problem with the stick. I cant even get the Force Feedback to work in the control panel. Interestingly enough, the company that writes the driver is looking for a coder. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/sof/1041969181.html -

Ditto ON that Ill let you know if I figure it out as Im having the same issue. Just got this stick today, and built the new pc yesterday (Vista 64) (first new PC in 6 YEARS and the last one was a DELL my wife made me buy). -
What is the sound Card? Or if built in card --- Motherboard or model number and brand of your PC?
-
Wags94 Please also you should make sure that your Gateway Motherboard MAY not have a standard ATX power plug. A great number of people have thought the ATX plug was "Just A Standard" only to find out that the replacement powersupply just blew up their Dell/Gateway etc. http://www.atxpowersupplies.com/300-watt-power-supply-bestec-atx-300-12eb3.php Does state that their powersupply will replace your Gateway model, and that the plug is ATX 2.03 compatable. But you will want to check the diagram if provided with your current powersupply, if not, the same site lists a 630 W design that lists your PC as compatable for under $50 http://www.atxpowersupplies.com/630-watt-power-supply.php I'd give them a call before you make a decision. If you ask "If I buy this one, will I be able to use it when I build a New PC?" And they answer "Yes" then it looks like the Gateway is a standard (normal) design. Good Luck!!!!

Long story short... Always, ALWAYS turn on de-iceing! The fact that it may be modeled in the future makes it worth it to make the practice a habit.
