I middled it. Took alot of the red out and the remainder is fairly faint, so it doesn't really show up unless your looking at the right angle. It should be up soon at lockonfiles
-
Okay. Complete I think. What I'm wondering is if people prefer the black with dark red of these pics, or the straight black from the preceding post?
-
LOL, ya thats the truth.
-
Kevlon, I was going to try typing what everyone else just said. Instead I did a quick example. (God I love Photoshop) I think the big problem is the KA50 doesn't have a lower tail. Hm, just looking at my quick pic, the other big difference is the tail sectiom on the fuselage is way thicker then the Bell. Doing a single angle gives alot of white.....

I'm running an 8800GTS 512 with Vista 64bit, latest drivers, no issues.
-
Almost done. I've gone back to plain black for the fusalage. About the only thing I'm still going to tweak is making the flames on the sidenumbers a little more pronounced.
-
Okay some more samples. Anyone have a favorite? Or maybe another suggestion for the over skin colors?
-
Ya, there is some 'blood' red in with the black. But it's random and fairly faint. I'll have to work on some longer flames. It may take some trial and error. At the moment if I stretch them out that much, they look like crap.

Okay, progress continues. I need some feedback on location of skull/flames and the actual overall skin color. Some Examples:
-
Okay, Crazy you were right. The Flames from a skull do look better. I still need to do alot of tweaking, but this is the basic theme of what I'm going to go with.

Hmm, well I stand corrected....I'm not sure how I got it to work before, and I've since done a full system reinstall for a new hard drive. Unfortunately Skypat, you are correct. It just ignores the additional skin file references....... So, next question. Is there an easy way to add this into MODMAN? Maybe multiple skin.lma7 files?
-
Hey Crazy, Is this sort of what you were thinking about? (just a quick test to see how it would look) I'm actually thinking about going more this route now but I'm not sure what would look better, flames coming up from underneath, or back from the nose. And getting a skull to wrap around the nose of the a/c is going to be a PITA...
-
yeepeekai, its not the black thats hiding the detail, it's just that I have most of it turned off at the moment
-
OKay, so I've redone the flames, and continued the theme fully along both sides. Crazy, I was originally thinking along those lines, but I didn't have the patience to line up the flames going from piece to piece. I do like the skull and crossbones idea though.
-
Skypat, No worries, it's not like you get paid for your work. Ref the not supported, are you talking about being able to add a cnt_unit to the db_countries file? (ie adding the KA-50 to other countries) or the quote from above? Because I tested just adding the additional skin files in the lma7 and it was working fine.
-
Ahhhh, 40 views and no comments? :wallbash: What do you think? Good/bad flames? Cool idea? Waste of time??
-
So, I'm working on a new skin. Not based on any real life helos or schemes. This ones all about the heat :)
-
Ya pic or two would be a def help
-
I have a feeling that if we get the that cnt_unit portion worked out, the multiple countries shouldn't be a problem.

Dragon, regarding the damage issue. No fix is required for MODMAN. All you need to do is edit the skin.lma7 file for each of your skins. Right now they look something like this: [skin] file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50.skins argument = 70 you need to add the additional skin files like this: [skin] file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50.skins file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-BLADE.skins file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-NOSE.skins file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-TAIL.skins file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-WING-L.skins file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-WING-R.skins argument = 70

Crazy, That was the whole point of the file. It will allow you to install the custom skins into the country of your choice. (assuming whoever made the skin used the correct country code) Unfortunately, it doesn't work as a MODMAN addon. Whenever I go to add a skin after adding it, it unloads it to load the skin.... On a brighter note however, I've solved the damage issues with custom skins. All you need to do is add the additional skin files to the lma7 file. Oh well, back to the drawing board for the countries issue.
