  1. Oh yeah! Swing-wingin' some JP233 pain on enemy pavement!
  2. Hi lemoen. I'm pretty shure Apache and Hind are both on the developer roadmaps...
  3. Hey QuiGon. Totally agree that DCS should maintain and expand upon the complexity that so many of us know and love. However, adding less-complex options wouldn't dumb-down the overall DCS experience. I think it would widen the audience to include more casual simmers; who we could then indoctrinate into HOTAS-piccolo-playin' switch/button/dial/lever-mashing fiends. ;) And yes there are "other" flight sims out there, but they are mostly ancient and those birds could use some DCS love. :) Cheers!
  4. Predicting Early Access version of South Atlantic theater (+ Falklands War era assets) with FC3-level British Sea Harrier. DCS:SA was already teased on Razbam's FB page a while back and I think 'retrofitting' the AV-8B N/A with non-study-level systems for the 80's-era Sea Harrier was doable in the time-frame. A-10C vs A-10A and AV-8B vs Sea Harrier in the current study vs survey landscape makes sense to me. :)
  5. Hi all. Did a few searches to see if there was a relevant thread. If I missed it, Mods feel free to move me. :-) I took a mental note of DCS a few years back, but didn't come on board until I stumbled upon the massive strides of this past year. I'm have A-10C and Hornet, but am more than happy with the Flaming Cliffs F-15C. I'm hoping for some stealth love (B2, F-117, F-22, F-35) in the future and more than willing not to have 'clicky-pits' to expedite take-off. :) I can appreciate the time, talent, and resources that go into even Flaming Cliffs-level birds. I think it would widen DCS appeal and accelerate expanding the aircraft menu to have a 3rd (simple) tier of realism. I know there's already a spectrum of 4(?) levels of flight-model complexity. To be honest I'd be content if INITIAL releases had only the most basic flight-model characteristics, as long general performance parameters, weapon selection, and avionics were in the ball park. I guess I'm just reminiscing and longing for some old friends (Apache, Hind, Tornado, F-22, F-117) from my 386/486 days. :) Hell, let's toss in Megafortress' Old Dog B-52 and EECH's Comanche for shits and giggles. :pilotfly: Happy Friday! Cheers!
  6. Dear Santus... ...I've been a really good boy, all year long. Thank you! :-) Especially LOVE your underside and chute! If I spring for the F-5, I'll be slowly pouring your syrup all over its skin...while playing some late 70's funk...before I taking a long, satisfied draw... :censored: :smoke: LOL I think Crash Laobi's DCS Youtube vidz are...rubbing off on me.
  7. In Strike Eagle III you could switch between the Driver and WSO consoles in single-player. I always considered it a 'head-down' toggle to additional MFD's; usually used during the ingress/setup phase...with AP on. ;) The Apache is another "killer" example of a great co-op bird. I recall doing single-ship multiplayer in Longbow 2. Yeah, I'm still on the fence regarding FC3. I snagged the standalone F-15, but there are still 6 birds in the package I don't have. I enjoyed Flanker and Flanker 2.0 back in the day and suspect I'll eventually cave; especially once the Mig-29 gets some pro-flight-model love. :) I respect you wanting to go deeper into the F-15C. I love its singular "clear the skies" purpose...one bad-ass bird. Cheers!
  8. Hey redman'. I'm drivin' the X-52 as well as I ease into the DCS world. I'll chime in if I discover a way to use our sliders/rotators. Cheers!
  9. Hey Ropay. I'm also new to the group and glad to have company at the newb lunch table. ;-) I've dabbled with my shiny new Hog-C, Hornet, and Eagle. Personally, I'm more partial to expanding the "for DCS World/FC3" lineup, as long as they have advanced/pro flight models. I have too short an attention span to commit to full-on study of every system and subsystem for more than one or two aircraft. ;-) I remember flying coop as Pilot and WSO in Strike Eagle III and would LOVE for the Mud Hen to get THAT kind of love in DCS. I think currently you can MP in the Huey, so I don't think it's a stretch. :-) Cheers!
  10. Maximizing Bonus... As I see it, the bonus system provides the greatest benefit to someone new to DCS who intends on filling their new virtual hanger with a lot of aircraft, terrains, and campaigns. The key is try to lay the foundation for a 9-product order to get the 60% (!) TRIPLE bonus, vs the 20% for single purchases. Campaigns are the cheapest products and there are a lot of them. At $10 a crack, you'd spend $90 to maximize the bonus and get $54 towards a future purchase. However, there are a couple of caveats. First off, to purchase a campaign you must already own the associated aircraft module. In many instances, you must also own a specific terrain module. Secondly, outside of bonus-related specials, bonus $'s can only be applied to a maximum of 30% of the cost of a future purchase. As someone who owned only one DCS product (snagged Hornet for 25% off +$16 bonus), I decided to focus on western 4th-gen planes plus associated campaigns. I made a limited purchase of aircraft to fulfill the campaign-purchase-prerequisites; i.e. A-10C and F-15. The cost was $75 which returned an $18.75 bonus and opened up 7(!) campaigns for the next purchase. Those 7 campaigns (6 A-10C, 1 F-15) cost $70 and returned a 50% bonus ($35). If I'd added Nevada to the first post-Hornet buy, I could have added another few campaigns and reached the 60% max. bonus. ;-) So now Saint has invested $205 in 3 jets and 7 campaigns...and has a $70 bonus credit. As it can't be applied to sale items and can only normally knock 30% off a new purchase, I'll wait and hope another bonus-promotion comes along. Worst case, I'll save 30% on Harrier, Persian Gulf, etc when I have another moment of DCS weakness. :-) Based on how much I've spent in past decades on flight sims and the current depth and quality of DCS, I'm content that the cost has been (and will be) more than fair...
  11. I'm also brand new to the DCS world; although have been monitoring its development throughout the years. Hadn't checked on current status in quite some time. Wow! 2018 has been a killer year for advancement and expansion! DL'd 2.5 to check things out on my older rig. Blew tires on the 25T and torque flipped the P51 many times...sold! :-) I agree that for us newbs, the single beta-requirement reference deep within the site was far from obvious. I too scratched my head for 12 hours wondering why 2.5 wouldn't update and my new Hornet wouldn't appear. Finally figured it out. Now kicking tires and lighting fires...and calculating how to best leverage the bonus program in my planned purchases! ;-) Was lucky to snag Hornet just hours before the sale ended. This is the start of a beautiful and expensive friendship. ;-) Keepin' Canopy Up 'Only" When Wheels Down, Saint
