  1. First off, I promise, I searched first! Got BS installed yesterday and it's fantastic. I'm in awe really, mostly watching training vids but I did take control, did a few circuits, and landed a few times. Nice. When I hit ESC at the end of a mission and then quit, I get the "BS not working" popup in Vista 64. It will then say looking for solution and then again BS not working. BS is somewhat funky in how it loads a mission; changes from the main menu, to Windows desktop, to the load mission screen, back to desktop, load mission screen, then you get into the game. Anyway, after hitting escape and then quit, it goes to the desktop and I get the message. When I hit OK, the BS main menu comes back up as if everything was fine. It's an inconvenience now, but when I'm doing real missions, I wonder if this continues, would I lose all the mission data. Or better, I'd like to have this fixed so as not to get the "Not working" message. Thanks guys! Off to get the startup procedures down. Todd
  2. You guys are going to love it! Incredible...the Ka50 is beautifully rendered. Really well done, as you've heard so many times on this forum. I was just watching some of the training videos, and took control of the Ka-50 at the end of the first one, did a circuit around the airfield, and landed!! Was defintely tricky, but I got her down in one piece. Very satisfying. Enjoy!
  3. The Shark is in the house!! Just got my copy from GoGamer. I'm going to install. Good luck to the rest of you. Jared, GoGamer is in Lake Forest. I'm in Murrieta and got it in one day. Can't ask for much more than that.
  4. Thanks Ysk. I'll have BS today and am printing the checklist. Looks VERY helpful. Big thank you to SDeath for putting this together!! Your time and effort is very much appreciated.
  5. Hey Jason! That was my first order from you guys today. Did BS ship out of Lake Forest? I'm in Murrieta so I should have it tomorrow if that's the case. Oh, and EB/GS really is the worst. I'm actually very surprised they're having BS in the retail stores. Thanks Woofer! I have a few threads bookmarked that explain the affinity trick. I'm psyched to see the performance increase. 30-40% sounds very nice.
  6. I just received my shipping notification from GoGamer too. I didn't even think about Newegg. Amazon didn't have it either. Dusty, I know you're pumped to see BS on your system. I have a 920/285/6GB/Vista system that I can't wait to see how Black Shark performs. Hopefully we'll be in business tomorrow.
  7. Black Shark is IN STOCK at GoGamer, and includes USPS Priority Mail. I ordered early this morning, and I got a confirm back that it is out today and I'll have it tomorrow. They're in Lake Forest, CA and are very close to me. I paid with Paypal which does NOT setup an account with them after you put the order in. I e-mailed them about it, and that's when they they got back to me and said it was going out Priority today. Good Luck! I forgot about EB/Gamestop already. I was in Gamestop Sunday to see if they'd have it. What a bunch of schmos over there. Totally clueless about anything for the PC. I vowed to NEVER get anything from them again.
  8. Yeah, I'm anxiously awaiting the DVD as well. I just built a new PC mainly for BS and Rise of Flight, so I'm excited to finally see BS in action. I wonder how long it will take to take off, hover, and land. :) I'm not sure what the availablility will be in stores like Gamestop/EB, so I might just put in a pre-order at Amazon over the weekend.
  9. A bound manual is in the works and will come out, from what I've heard, roughly around the same time as the boxed version. Unfortunately, the boxed version will not have the big bound manual, only a quick start guide. I'm waiting on the boxed version as well.
  10. You hit two points here that I'm dealing with...I'm getting impatient waiting on the DVD with a Fighterstick coming this week, but I'm about to pull the trigger on Track IR. Can't wait to see what everyone's bragging about! Last night, I was trying to set up a flight in FSX. After two hours of dealing with corrupt textures and other ineffeciencies with FSX, it's wonderful to hear that BS is a stable program. That is great news!
  11. Thanks guys. Tiger, if I get hooked on BS the way I think I will, the Pro Throttle most likely will be a part of my setup within a month. But I figure, it's going to take a little while to learn all of what BS has to offer, :smartass: so not having the throttle shouldn't be such a big deal early on. If I find an immediate need for more buttons right away, I have a shifter unit (G25) with a bunch of extra buttons if necessary. Han - I've been away from heli sims for a long time, LB2, and it's great to see such a nice setup. Gosh, the cyclic is sweet. I'm trying to figure out how to get the Fighterstick in the right position. I assume that's a home made solution? Very nice.
  12. I'm trying to be patient waiting on the boxed version, which is getting increasingly difficult as I read more of this forum. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out the best option for controls. I've read the many threads about all the sticks/HOTAS, and it comes down to the X52(pro) and CH stuff. I like CH stuff! I currently have their yoke and pedals for use in FSX, and need a good joystick. I'm pretty set on the CH Fighterstick, which I'll order later this week. At some point in the not too distant future I'll add the throttle unit. My question, with the stick and pedals without the throttle unit at the beginning, would I still get a somewhat satisfactory experience with BS? Appreciate your opinions. Todd
