  1. Have to be. I know that 30mm hit next to you can be unhealthy, but if I miss 5m from aaa position I dont expect it to caught fire and explode...
  2. Sometimes too effective. 1 HE round hit from 30mm gun at 3.9km and APC (or any light armored targets) is burning... ;) I actually find that I dont need to use AP rounds as HE seems to be more effective almost always.
  3. LB2 fan here aswell and BS is better every way (except perhaps that dynamic campaing).
  4. Yes, but if you read carefully Flankers post, you see that jammer jams launcher itself. Launcher cant guide missile well if it dont "see" missile that it is trying to guide. Only quidance commands are sent in wire.
  5. If you ever doubt that controlling helicopter is imbosible watch musicflight track. That is some amazing flying... I think I can do same after couple of decades...
  6. Watched it... and that musicflight aswell. Who ever flew that know how to fly ;)
  7. Usually 2-2-2 with both dispensers, but I also usually launch that sequence 2 times for each missile. I was out of flares when last on killed me.
  8. Thats true. Especially against fast movers like jets. True engament time window is so small, that manpand like SA-18 has hard time even locking correctly in that time. When they have locked target usually is out of effective range. Also as I said, if they are dropping flares, then seeker has hard time to get "correct" heat singature and may lock to flare. Even after all this, if you manage to hit, warhead is relatively small so target may still fly away (as we all have seen pictures from damaged aircrafts hit by manpands). BTW; survived yesterday 4 hits from SA-16 in game. Fifth hit brought chopper down ;) (all four where bottom and last on to left engine)
  9. I have to disagree. If I hover and manpands are launched, I can launch flares and they pretty much always miss (Iglas atleast, but start of the campaing they might be SA-16 which are inferior to SA-18 missiles). If those were SA-7 (or redeyes) I could understand... I think more correct method would be that you would have to drop flares before so that they could not lock on you first place (as SA-18 seeker would try to lock at flare most of the time).
  10. "Tests in Finland have shown that in comparison with the French Mistral, the 9K38 Igla has inferior range and seeker sensitivity and smaller warhead, but it has a superior resistance to countermeasures." Thats from wikipedia, but I have heard finnish operators talk and their opinion is that after lock SA18 is very hard to spoof (It wont go after flares usually). Ofcourse if target is dropping flares, then getting lock first place is hard ;)
  11. That reminds me... how realistic are manpands? What I have read modern manpads are very, very hard to spoof after lock (more than one seeker head and they remember "right" spectrum). Atleast sofar I havent been shot down from manpands (but several times from AT-missiles and tank guns. I hover too much...) ;)
  12. I have to agree with Grodin reasoning, but I still buy atleast A-10 game (IMHO its not module if you get full package with it).
  13. Thank you. I quess that tank models still take account different sides (so 1 vikhr hit can kill heavy tanks from side). Also do you have knowledge are there plans to improve damage models of ground units (M1A2 front armour can withstand missile hits like vikhr. Ofcourse those can always damage it by destroying sights, etc)? No asking any super armour models, but just simple "missile Y can penetrate X amount of armour and if tank Z has not enought in hit location missile will kill it".
  14. Quick question. How realistic is weapon and damage modelling? By that I mean other units like tanks, not your helicopter. Example if I fire vikhr to M1A2 front armour does it fail to penetrate? Also can T-72B APDSFS fail to penetrate T-80U and M1A2 frontally?
