I tend to pause my TrackIR when transitioning so I can see the changes in attitude a lot better. That has really helped me get a better feel for it. I think I was correcting attitude changes with my head subconsiously, so I didn't notice them as much. Still need a lot of practice to "git gud", but its getting there.

Ah thanks for clearing that up. So where the manual mentions "enabling", they mean you're basically ensuring the (already enabled) system has full authority before takeoff.

Yeah I tried it as well last night and she's actually a dream to fly now.

I haven't actually noticed the aircraft trying to hold a heading, thought that was WIP with the hold modes and moved on. Until reading the manual again and stumbling upon this thread. Is the heading hold really always enabled or dependent on the proper take-off procedure as per the manual? Probably read over it the first time. So maybe I should try this next time.

I think this can only be turned off in the front seat, if I understand correctly. From the quickstart guide: ENG autopaging can be disabled in the CPG cockpit only
