When I looked for reference images I learned that it is a regular painting of the MD 500, which was used by Magnum

Amazing!!!
Absolutely sweet! Hell of a job. Have you been able to do some adjustments to the pointers in the instruments yet? To make em look more realistic? (See one of my earlier posts)
Cheers!Yes it is done partially. We decided to not touch the 3d shapes for the first release but to improve it by better texturing. That should do the job for now.

Hey, great achievement on its own, but regarding „realism“ -shouldn’t it lag a bit? It seems very very stable to me (it is still operated by a human, no? Even if it is a simulated one).
No criticism, just an observation.
Do you have any information how much it should lag?

A little enhancement for the searchlight. You can track a fix position on the ground now.

Any chance we could get a sneak preview of flight from the cockpit, or is that not quite ready to show yet? The anticipation is growing daily! Cant wait for this mod.
There are some more "older" videos on the discord channel

Oh boy! Something that I have been waiting for forever is finally coming to pass. The OH-6A Cayuse scout has been one of my absolute favorite aircraft of all times. A few years back I obtained a Cayuse static plastic model by 21st Century Toys in GI-Joe scale (1/6th). Being a lifelong modeler, I went about reconfiguring as much as I could ending a years worth of work with something I like and has won show awards. To get there, I got as many references I could find....such as the December 1976 TM for the OH-6A (Operators Manual) # 55-1520-214-10. I am making it available to you for this project should you need.
Very interesting! i would love to see some pics of your model too! We got a copy of the manual already. Thank you

Guys, this looks truly outstanding!!! I'm not sure I've been this excited about a new "module". We have a serious lack of little fun helicopters in DCS. Something you can throw around between the trees! Absolutely can't wait.
Could I ask, is there a virtual pilot body planned? And with regards to the flight model - is this built from the ground up or is it limited in some way by DCS's code as it's a mod? How close to the real thing would we expect it to handle? Huey being a benchmark in terms of a realistic FM, would this be in the same ballpark?
Many Thanks! Please keep up the great work! Can't wait to make some videos with thisHard to judge on this but I put a lot of focus on the FM. It uses a detailed dynamic main rotor simulation and the fuselage aerodynamics are based on wind tunnel data. Downwash of the main rotor has impact on the empenage aerodynamics. In addition to that I spend some time to test the FM against flighttest reports. I am quite happy with the results.

Quick question, is the below video the OH-6 in action you are working? It was on Eight Ball's YouTube Channel.
Yes it is

Out of curiosity (may have implications for use) - is your mod a "cosmetic makeover" of a existing module, like a lot of the FC3 based mods are (is that even possible for helicopters?), or is it a completely original mod like the A-4 for example, including its flight model?
Forgive me if that was answered earlier and I missed it!
Either way, I'm very excited for it and appreciate your efforts!!!
It is standalone

Looks good to me .
Wondered if there will be any training missions with it? Cold start etc. or maybe even a little training course to mess around with. I don't wanna make more work for you both though. Could take the project over the two week window.
A bit like CommandT I'm getting more out of these 'community mod' type projects than I do official modules I think? Looking forward to this and the Lanc more than any official module somehow.
Good innit. Well done, keep it up - pardon the pun, makes me wonder if it'll have any auto-hover type settings? Probably didn't have it originally, I dunno?
We are working on a cold start training mission.
Auto hover is not planned. You are right it does not have something like that originally. It does not even have something like SAS. You have to fly it by your self completely. That can be challenging, but it's exactly what makes this helicopter so charming for me

Just out of curiosity, where are you digging up the content for the 3D model/cockpit? Any chance you will be messing with photogrammetry from a museum piece? If you are in Texas, I believe there are some
This way we would go if this was a third party module. Texas is far away. We checked if there is a museum piece close enough or with reasonable effort for a hobby project without luck. So we have to stick to pics on the internet and from manuals. I am pretty sure this way we get an enjoyable mod too.

Sweet!
It sure looks like a gem!
Another remark: The cable cutters (aka WSPS "Wire Strike Protection System") were not present on machines serving during Vietnam. Those wer fitted later in the early 80s.
Cheers! We can add an option for the canle cutter in the missioneditor in one of the updates after first release
